If you are going to be On the Go in MCO this St. Patrick’s Day, there are some really great ways for you to have fun while wearing your green!
On the Go in MCO: St. Patrick’s Day 2022
Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival at Raglan Road
The Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival is back in full swing this year from March 11-17 at Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant with top Irish bands flown in for the celebration.
The most authentic Irish festival in America will take it to the Disney Springs street outside Raglan Road with extraordinary Irish talent arriving from Ireland, five outside bars, fun St. Paddy’s merchandise, and more.
Award-winning Irish musicians and the Raglan Road Irish Dancers will rock the fun throughout this lively festival that leads up to the mother of all Irish holidays.
Especially for the Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival, a new berry-forward St. Paddy’s brew, “So Berry Les,” is on tap for the holiday and on into spring.
Crafted in collaboration with Crooked Can Brewing Co. in Winter Garden, Fla., So Berry Les is a refreshing hard seltzer infused with local Florida strawberry (‘tis the season!) and Key Lime juice. The brew pays tribute to Raglan Road co-owner John Cooke’s father, Les, who in 1977 earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for buying the dearest strawberries at a charity auction for a record 530 Irish punt—equivalent to the British pound—to generate publicity for his restaurant business.
On St. Patrick’s Day only, March 17, Raglan Road will open at 10 a.m. with a $20 cover charge for guests 18 and older; (first-come, first-served—no reservations on this day only); younger patrons may enter free of charge.
Gather your family and friends and wear some green to enjoy the 43rd Annual Winter Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade Sunday, March 6, at 2 p.m., in downtown Winter Park.
The parade will begin at Webster Avenue and proceed south down Park Avenue to Lyman Avenue. Active in the Irish-American community for many years, Al Denecour will serve as Grand Marshal, and more than 60 units will participate.
After the parade, the celebration will continue with Irish music and step-dancing on the Central Park Main Stage with performances by professional Irish dancer Sarah Costello, Tir Na Greine School of Irish Dance, Watters School of Irish Dancing, Finnegan Academy of Irish Dance, and Michael Daly, Tenor.
One of Central Florida’s Largest Celtic Festivals is coming to Crooked Can Brewing Company for its’ seventh year from March 17-19, 2022.
Festival-goers will enjoy three days of live Celtic music, Irish Dancers, Local Vendors, Delicious Eats, and of course fan-favorite favorite Crooked Can Brews!
Join in on the fun as Promenade at Sunset Walk hosts its St. Patrick’s Day Outdoor Street Party and Celebration on Thursday, March 17, from 2 pm to 11:30 pm.
Guests will enjoy a variety of food and beverage specials from participating restaurants while listening to live music from artists Tim Hamlin, DJ Scotty B and The Hooligans and watching live entertainment like street performers and lucky leprechauns.
Admission to this event and parking are free.

I was beyond excited when I found out that acclaimed Chef Richard Blais will open his first Orlando restaurant later this year with a new tropical concept at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, located adjacent to Walt Disney World.
“It’s undeniable how talented and invigorating Chef Blais is. We couldn’t be more excited to be working with him for our newest restaurant,” said Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress General Manager Paul Joseph. “This concept is something very near and dear to our hearts and to Blais’s and we can’t wait to be able to unveil it to our guests.”
Blais is widely recognized as the first winner of Bravo’s Top Chef All-Stars and recently announced co-star of the new Gordon Ramsay / FOX cooking competition, Next Level Chef. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and trained at The French Laundry, Daniel, Chez Panisse, and el Bulli.
His new Orlando restaurant will make its home in the former Hemingway’s venue within the resort and offer dinner nightly and brunch on Sundays.
Blais currently owns and operates Trail Blais, a forward-thinking culinary consulting company that has consulted on, designed, and operated popular eateries across the country. He is the James Beard Award-nominated author of Try This at Home: Recipes from My Head to Your Plate, as well as his second cookbook, So Good.
Most recently, he opened Ember & Rye at the newly renovated Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, California, and took on the role of Culinary Director at the newly opened San Diego Symphony performance space, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park.
“I love having fun with my concepts and menus and I’m so excited about what we’ve got in store for this restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress,” said Chef Richard Blais. “We’re looking forward to adding a memorable and innovative offering to Orlando’s already incredible food scene.”
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress will host a hiring event for the new restaurant on Tuesday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the resort’s Windsong Ballroom. Positions available include management, cooks, bartenders, servers, and greeters.

Since its beginning in 1921, White Castle has held fast to its founder’s belief that families everywhere should be able to enjoy an evening at a restaurant with tasty food at a great value.
And now Orlando is home to the Orlando Castle – the largest, free-standing White Castle in the World – which marks the restaurant’s return to Florida since operating several Miami locations during the 1960s.
President and CEO Lisa Ingram – a fourth-generation family member – along with other family members, company leaders, White Castle Hall of Famers, local elected officials, development partners, and guests were excited to attend the Orlando Castle’s Grand Opening on May 3, 2021.
“You could say our Orlando Castle has been 100 years in the making,” remarked Ingram. “We have been humbled and honored by the warm welcome we have received to date from the Central Florida community. Our vision at White Castle is to ‘feed the souls of craver generations everywhere,’ and our mission is to ‘create memorable moments every day. We can’t wait to meet our new neighbors, whether long-time Cravers or new to the Castle.

In addition to sliders, ‘Castle Combos’, beer, wine, and sides, the Orlando Castle menu features exclusive and limited-time items like Crave Coolers and Desserts On-A-Stick.

The Orlando Castle will be open 24 hours and life the slider cap in the future.

Looking for a fun outing, we decide to head over to Coney Island Drive-Inn that has been in Brooksville, Florida since 1960 when they took over an old boat manufacturing building.
While the building has changed hands a few times over the years, the quality and vibe has remained the same.
Legend has it that in 1961, Elvis Presley was in Inverness, Florida, filming a movie and he ventured down to Brooksville for one of their world Famous Footlongs.
We have been here many times before, and some of these photos were pre-Covid to give you an idea of the inside, but they do have a walk up window if you didn’t want to go inside to eat or order.
I love the vibe inside the Coney Island Drive-Inn, because there are a lot of classic photos of not only Elvis (who ate here don’t forget!) but also so many old license plates and old photos.
I love all the Betty Boop items, too!
During my first visit a few years ago, I stared at everything for a long time, as there’s so much to look at!
I even love the furniture it feels like an old retro gas station vibe which sounds really odd but as you can see from the photos, it really works!
There are a few different rooms you can sit in too if eating inside, each with plenty of cool items to admire.
As for the food, they do have their famous footlong hot dogs, including gator dogs, Reuben dogs and “Hot Diggity Chix Wings”.
Below is a photo of their selection from their Facebook page, then a photo of what I, the awkward vegetarian at a hot dog place, orders, fried corn!
Image taken from the Coney Island Drive-Inn Facebook Page.
I can honestly say its the best fried corn I have ever had! Which is why I always come back, its so tasty as are their fries!

UPDATE: Visit Orlando Magical Dining has been extended until October 31st!!!!
I am really excited to share that Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining starts next week with an absolutely amazing charity!
If you aren’t familiar with it, Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining offer diners to experience fine dining in Orlando at a great value with a $35 three-course, prix-fixe menu supporting local businesses and helping to feed others in need.
This year Magical Dining will run August 28 through October
4 with new additions that encourage dining with confidence.
Participating restaurants are going above and beyond with new
safety measures; new takeout and delivery meal options for in-home dining; and
the website now designates venues that also offer open-air and outdoor dining.
The OrlandoMagicalDining.com website is now live for diners to review menus of participating restaurants, make reservations, and see options for outdoor seating, takeout, and delivery.
“Visit Orlando originally started this program 15 years ago to support local restaurants during the off-season, and this year is literally the most significant and longest off-season these businesses have ever faced,” said George Aguel, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. “Supporting this program is a positive benefit for all – residents get to enjoy fine dining at a value, local businesses can put employees to work, and Central Florida residents in need will receive meals through this year’s charity recipient, Feed the Need.”
Recognizing the significant impact of the pandemic on the local economy, this year’s charity provides food for local residents in need. The beneficiary, Feed the Need Florida, is feeding those who are struggling to access food during the COVID-19 crisis.
Since the program launched in late March, over 1 million
meals have been served, and funds raised through Magical Dining will help feed
thousands more. The effort is led by Orlando nonprofit 4Roots, plus public and
private partners, to support Florida farmers, preserve and create jobs, and
prepare nutritious meals to be served throughout Central Florida.
“We are honored to be a beneficiary of this year’s Magical Dining program,” said John Rivers, Founder & CEO, 4Roots & 4 Rivers Restaurants. “Although the COVID-19 crisis has shined a light on our efforts to feed those in need, the beautiful families and children we’re feeding today were hungry before COVID-19, and they’ll be hungry after COVID-19. We pray that others will join us in this cause, come beside us, and help make it happen.”
Due to limited seating capacity at participating
restaurants, diners are strongly encouraged to make reservations in advance to
ensure securing their preferred dates and times.
Foodies are encouraged to check the website for new additions.
If you are comfortable eating out, the 38 days, which
includes six weekends, of Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining allows you to support local
restaurants and our community.
