A Visit to Toledo at the Gran Destino Tower

Up on the 16th floor of the new Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort you’ll find an unforgettable new dining experience, Tolédo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood, a unique rooftop table-service restaurant offering dishes and small plates inspired by the flavors of Spain.

Featuring sweeping views of Walt Disney World Resort, this charming, surrealistic location invites guests to dine indoors under a pair of large olive trees nestled beneath an intricate vaulted ceiling with shimmering stained-glass accents.

Tolédo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood is the namesake of the Spanish city that was home to avant-garde writers and artists in the 1920s and ’30s.

Chef Robert Sayles, Chef for Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, talks through some of the dishes you can enjoy at the restaurant.

Stick around for the end of the video, as Jeremiah helps flip through the menu inspired by Spain that includes:

  • Begin the adventure with tapas from the Basque region of Spain. An onstage tapas kitchen serves small plates, charcuteríá, and cheeses.
  • Or choose from Cazuelas – chef interpretations of classic recipes presented in a traditional Spanish terra cotta dish.
  • Entrees include rioja-braised chicken, Spanish-style bone-in ribeye or golden tilefish (100% sustainable seafood).
  • Spanish sides include bravas (potatoes) with pimento aioli, braised gigante beans with aged sherry vinegar, and roasted cauliflower with harissa vinaigrette.
  • Three signature desserts from the Master Pastry Chef include the Tapas Bar, a crunchy chocolate bar with bite-sized flavors of Spanish coffee, crunchy chocolate, raspberry mousse and lemon curd.

A Visit to Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

Disclosure: I was invited to Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen to try these items, however all opinions are 100% my own. I am genuinely a GIGANTIC fan of Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, firmly believe their chicken tenders are heaven sent, and will fight you for the last onion ring…so with that being said let’s get going!

A Visit to Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

A Visit to Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

It was probably a year ago that I discovered Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen (when I say ‘discovered’ I really mean I was finally braved the line out the door), and since then it has become my go-to restaurant when I am ‘On the Go’ since their menu has a wide variety of items.

If you haven’t been to a Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, what makes them so special is that they really live up to their name! Their menu features made-from-scratch dishes like house smoked baby back ribs, hand-battered country fried chicken, scratch burgers, croissants, and their AMAZING homemade onion rings that are stacked to the ceiling.

While the menu features some fan favorites like their chicken tenders (they serve over 30 million a year), Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is always adding new items to their lineup.

Let’s take a peek at some of my favorite and new favorite menu items!

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Texas Sweet Tea and Painkiller (there is a limit of 2 per person…for a VERY good reason)

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Homemade Onion Rings- These are the most amazing onion rings you’ll ever have…promise!

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Trio Sampler – The trio sampler for us is perfect, because everyone gets their favorite appetizer.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen New Orleans Pasta – The New Orleans Pasta has a great snap of spicy that is perfect for warming you up on a chilly night.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Tender Parmesan – The parmesan crust on the chicken tenders is FANTASTIC!

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop – Let me be honest…Dave didn’t even let me have bite, because he claimed this as ‘his’. Not cool dude. Not. Cool.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Blackened Salmon and Shrimp
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Blackened Salmon and Shrimp  – The Blackened Salmon and Shrimp is a great light dinner or lunch.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Monte Cristo – The Monte Cristo is Zoe’s go-to menu item, and you can actually order a lunch combo with half of this sandwich with a ton of options. It’s great!

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Seasonal Crisp A La Mode – So now it’s my turn…I didn’t share. I’m not ashamed. It was too good to share.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Painkiller Mini Cake – The Painkiller Mini Cake was soooo good, and a fantastic light dessert.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Chocolate Raspberry Mini Cake – Don’t let the ‘Mini’ fool you, because the Chocolate Raspberry Mini Cake is big on flavor!

But what makes Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen even better is their prices! They have twenty entrees that are under $10, and let me tell you NONE of them are small! You definitely won’t leave hungry!

There are over 150 Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen locations across the country, and you can find your nearest one here.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
Holiday Gift Card Offer for Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen:
This holiday season, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is offering a free Sandwich or Scratch Burger served with one side – such as Cheddar’s hand-battered Monte Cristo sandwich or hand-smashed Smokehouse Burger – when guests purchase $30 or more in gift cards online or in-restaurant from December 17 through 24.

If you can’t tell I’m a Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen fangirl, and you will be too when you give it a try!

ICYMI: VooDoo Doughnut is coming to Universal CityWalk

VooDoo Doughnut Coming to Universal Orlando CityWalk

The Universal Orlando Resort announced that VooDoo Doughnut will arrive east of the Mississippi when they open at Universal CityWalk, Universal Orlando Resort’s entertainment and dining complex, this spring.

httpv://youtu.be/MJQKgfelRp8

VooDoo Doughnut was created by Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon in Portland, Oregon, in 2003. The pair had enjoyed experimenting with unique flavors to create eccentric pastries and they turned their passion into the phenomenon that is Voodoo Doughnut. As they say, the rest is history.

The Doughnut stop is loved for its sinfully delicious, delightfully weird lineup of fried creations. Their selection of doughnuts will feature signature originals and one-of-a-kind delectables such as the Dirt Doughnut, the Bacon Maple Bar, Grape Ape and, of course, Voodoo Doll doughnuts.

VooDoo Doughnut Universal Orlando CityWalk selection

The Universal CityWalk shop will feature the same eclectic pink theming and irreverent names that can be found in current Voodoo Doughnut locations, and will be located next to NBC Sports Grill & Brew, just steps away from the iconic Universal Globe and Universal Studios Florida entrance.

Good Things Come in Pink Boxes, and I cannot wait to give them a try! 2018 just got sweeter!

A Step Behind The Walls At Disney Springs

DISCLOSURE: I was an invited guest of guest of The Patina Restaurant Group and Walt Disney World to tour the four new dining venues opening at Disney Springs, but all opinions (and exclamation points) are my own.

2017 Behind the Walls at Disney Springs 2017

It is always an exciting experience to step behind a construction wall at Walt Disney World, and I had the chance to peek in at the four new dining locations opening soon at Disney Springs.

Let’s take a step back to October 2017 when Nick Valenti, CEO of Patina Restaurant Group, shared a glimpse at how each location will tie into the Disney Springs storyline of a restored Florida Waterfront town.

“…we will be opening a trattoria named Maria & Enzo’s, as well as Enzo’s Hideaway, a separate restaurant in what were said to be rum-running tunnels, which is destined to become a local favorite,” said Valenti. “They are inspired by the cuisines of Sicily and Rome, the Italian family, and the best of Italian modern cooking.”

What is really great about this connecting group of restaurants is that each location will have its own distinct menu as well as price point. This is sure to become a ‘one-stop’ dining destination at Disney Springs!

Pizza Ponte Disney Springs Logo
PRG

Pizza Ponte, now in soft openings, is a fast-casual concept and the perfect place for a quick bite serving pastries, pizza, Italian sandwiches, and espresso. Pastry specialties include Bomboloni (Italian doughnuts) Sfoglia di Riso (pastry with rice cream) and Tiramisu. Savory items include signature Triangolo (stuffed pizza bread) sandwiches, Porchetta (roast pork) and Pizza al Taglio, Sicilian-style pizza by the slice. There is dining available inside of this location, but it is also a great place to pop in to take your food to enjoy outdoors.

Maria and Enzos Disney Springs Mural and Globe
PRG

Maria & Enzo’s is an Italian trattoria set in the town’s storied abandoned airline terminal from the 1930s, now transformed into a restaurant. The dining room is open and airy, featuring 50-foot ceilings with views of Lake Buena Vista. The restaurant interiors showcase artifacts that reference air travel of the time, with maps and historic flight paths. The menu is inspired by Sicily, with a range of family-friendly dishes – Arancini di Carne (rice balls stuffed with meat), Melanzane Parmigiana (eggplant Parmesan) – and handmade pastas – Busiate con Granchio (spiral pasta with crab), ‘Ncasciata al Forno (Sicilian baked pasta) – served tableside. Other highlights include fresh fish, richly flavored steaks and chops. Guests will also be treated to stunning views of Lake Buena Vista under a fantastic mural as they dine.

Then under Maria & Enzo’s, in the actual tunnels under Disney Springs, is Enzo’s Hideaway which is a speakeasy inspired by Roman aperitivo bars, located in the storied rum-runner tunnels that adjoin Maria & Enzo’s. Inspired by Florida’s true history of rum running, Enzo’s Hideaway will pour Prohibition-era cocktails at its Tunnel Bar and serve a casual menu of hearty Roman dishes, such as the city’s legendary Bucatini alla Carbonara (hollow spaghetti with creamy egg and pancetta sauce) and Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe (square-cut spaghetti with pecorino and black pepper). I could spend all day taking in every detail of the graffiti wall!

The Edison Mural Disney Springs

The shining gem of this group of dining locations can be found either with its main entrance or a secret tunnel passageway from Enzo’s Hideaway, which is The Edison, which will be opening with a sold out New Year’s Eve Bash. The Edison is a lavish “Industrial Gothic” –style restaurant, bar and nighttime destination, The Edison is famous for exceptionally good classic American food, craft cocktails and live entertainment including cabaret and music. With multiple levels and a performance space, The Edison will be open for lunch and dinner. The menu is executed by Chef PJ Finneran, and consists of contemporary American fare such as Pork Belly Pops with a chile-brown sugar glaze, Crispy Fried Chicken with cast iron buttermilk biscuits and its signature The Edison Burger, a juicy combination of house-ground sirloin, shortrib and brisket, topped with Cabot cloth-bound cheddar, onion rings, smoked bacon, house pickles, lettuce, tomato, special sauce and served with hand-cut fries. The Edison’s beverage program places a huge focus on artfully crafted cocktails, interesting beer and wines and house-made punches, made to serve from two to 10 guests. The main room features a dance floor and stage, where each night The Edison will feature an eclectic lineup of live entertainment including musicians, aerialists and dancers.

Reservations are currently not available for these three dining locations at Disney Springs, but we expect them to be available soon.Follow us for more updates: Facebooktwittergoogle_plusyoutubetumblrinstagram
