Heroes Weekend Returns to LEGOLAND Florida

LEGOLAND Florida

LEGOLAND Florida and the National Fires Protection Association have partnered to present Heroes Weekend, a three-day-only special event, that aims to educate kids in a fun and playful way.

From Saturday, September 5 to Monday, September 7, families can meet LEGO characters, see the firefighter stilt walkers, and learn the best ways to stay safe!

Kids can take part in a variety of fun activities, attractions, and character experiences in the theme park, while families gather important information from NFPA to minimize risk from hazards, including COVID-19.

Heroes Weekend activities include:

  • NEW! Meet LEGO Doctor Max and LEGO Policeman as character experiences make a return to LEGOLAND Florida Resort in a safe and physically distant way
  • NEW! Stop by the NFPA COVID-19 Awareness Table to get resources needed to minimize risk and help prevent accidents from fire, electrical and other hazards
  • Help build a LEGO City mosaic brick by brick
  • Catch a showing of The LEGO City 4D: Officer in Pursuit at the Fun Town 4D Theater

The best part is that the Heroes Weekend Events are included with general LEGOLAND Florida theme park admission or Annual Pass.

Central Florida Zoo Offers Programs for Families

The Central Florida Zoo is once again answering the call of families as Central Florida students are heading back to the classroom, logging in for virtual learning, and many homeschool families are doing the same.

Central Florida Zoo ZooVenture Educational Program 2020

Building on years of providing homeschool families with a variety of programs to help bring the classroom to life, the Central Florida Zoo has a series of programs families may want to take advantage of in these times.

Registration is now open for the Central Florida Zoo’s ZOOventure Programs which offer both onsite and virtual classes for children ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 13 as well as onsite family workshops.

Classes are offered monthly from September through May, with topics ranging from animal calls and the food chain to taxonomy and mutations.

“Education is at the very heart of what we do at the Central Florida Zoo,” said Stephanie Williams, the Zoo’s director. “Seeing students make the connection when they see something they read about up close and personal is truly a gift.”

ZOOventure Programs include up-close animal encounters, games, crafts, and activities. The virtual versions of the programs will include materials typically found at home, and a list will be provided one week in advance.

Virtual classes are $10 per child for annual pass holders and $12 per child for non-pass holders. Onsite classes are $15 per child for annual pass holders and $18 per child for non-pass holders. Family workshops are $20 per family for annual pass holders and $25 per family for non-pass holders.

Magical Dining Begins Next Week

UPDATE: Visit Orlando Magical Dining has been extended until October 31st!!!!

I am really excited to share that Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining starts next week with an absolutely amazing charity!

Visit Orlando Magical Dining

If you aren’t familiar with it, Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining offer diners to experience fine dining in Orlando at a great value with a $35 three-course, prix-fixe menu supporting local businesses and helping to feed others in need.

Visit Orlando Magical Dining Chef 2019

This year Magical Dining will run August 28 through October 4 with new additions that encourage dining with confidence.

Participating restaurants are going above and beyond with new safety measures; new takeout and delivery meal options for in-home dining; and the website now designates venues that also offer open-air and outdoor dining.

The OrlandoMagicalDining.com website is now live for diners to review menus of participating restaurants, make reservations, and see options for outdoor seating, takeout, and delivery.

Visit Orlando Magical Dining

“Visit Orlando originally started this program 15 years ago to support local restaurants during the off-season, and this year is literally the most significant and longest off-season these businesses have ever faced,” said George Aguel, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. “Supporting this program is a positive benefit for all – residents get to enjoy fine dining at a value, local businesses can put employees to work, and Central Florida residents in need will receive meals through this year’s charity recipient, Feed the Need.”

Recognizing the significant impact of the pandemic on the local economy, this year’s charity provides food for local residents in need. The beneficiary, Feed the Need Florida, is feeding those who are struggling to access food during the COVID-19 crisis.

Visit Orlando Magical Dining 2020

Since the program launched in late March, over 1 million meals have been served, and funds raised through Magical Dining will help feed thousands more. The effort is led by Orlando nonprofit 4Roots, plus public and private partners, to support Florida farmers, preserve and create jobs, and prepare nutritious meals to be served throughout Central Florida.

“We are honored to be a beneficiary of this year’s Magical Dining program,” said John Rivers, Founder & CEO, 4Roots & 4 Rivers Restaurants. “Although the COVID-19 crisis has shined a light on our efforts to feed those in need, the beautiful families and children we’re feeding today were hungry before COVID-19, and they’ll be hungry after COVID-19. We pray that others will join us in this cause, come beside us, and help make it happen.”

Due to limited seating capacity at participating restaurants, diners are strongly encouraged to make reservations in advance to ensure securing their preferred dates and times.

Foodies are encouraged to check the website for new additions.

If you are comfortable eating out, the 38 days, which includes six weekends, of Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining allows you to support local restaurants and our community.

Tickets for the Haunted Road Available This Week

Starting this week, guests can begin planning their journey through The Haunted Road, a new contactless, drive-thru Halloween event coming to Orlando on select nights from September 25 through November 7.

Tickets will be available for purchase starting this Wednesday, August 19.

The Haunted Road Halloween 2020

The Haunted Road combines theatrical storytelling, horrifying creatures, and unexpected scares in a completely drive-thru Halloween experience.

Guests will be driving and parking their car at each scene so they’re not able to escape the horror that lurks around every corner. The spine-tingling action will come to life thanks to live performers, set pieces, props, lighting, sound, and visual effects to place guests in the center of the original storyline.

The immersive journey reveals an untold story of Rapunzel, as she ventures into a world of disarray filled with twisted creatures, bloodcurdling encounters, and screams for anyone that dares to take a drive down the road.

The event is recommended for guests ages 13 and up. On November 6 and 7, the team behind the event is dialing up the intensity for two nights of The Haunted Road: “Unrestricted,” featuring even more gore and horror for guests 18 and up.

The family-friendly experience will be available during the daytime on select weekends from October 3 through October 31 and will feature a new take on Rapunzel’s story and other beloved fairy tales. Families will depart on a journey through an enchanted forest, where they’ll meet some of their favorite fairy tale creatures and enjoy music, dancing, and tons of contactless Halloween fun during this not-too-scary adventure.

The event will take place in East Orlando, at 15239 Lake Pickett Rd, at the same locations as Corn Maze Orlando and the Painted Oaks Academy. Admission tickets start at $15 per person and will vary per date. As space is limited, guests will be prompted to select a date and entrance time at the time of purchase. The event is expected to sell out, and all tickets must be purchased in advance online.

A “Beyond the Road” upgrade will also be available for $79 per car for both, the nighttime and daytime event. The nighttime add-on includes priority viewing location at each scene, access to an exclusive bonus scene, and a digital photo taken during the experience. The daytime “Beyond the Road” upgrade will also include priority viewing, a digital photo plus a customized live greeting for the kids, and a colorful rainbow car wash.
