Universal Parks & Resorts to Bring Unique Horror Experience to Las Vegas

Universal Parks & Resorts to Bring Entirely New Year-Round Horror Experience to Las Vegas

Straight from Universal Parks & Resorts, the creators of Halloween Horror Nights – the world’s most popular global Halloween event – comes a brand-new permanent entertainment experience in Las Vegas.

This original concept will bring to life Universal’s vast library of classic horror films and today’s most terrifying tales.

“Las Vegas is an entertainment destination unlike any other – and we are thrilled to welcome Universal to our city,” said City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. “The Universal experience will bring exactly the kind of high-quality, exciting entertainment our city, our visitors and our residents want.”

With a variety of unique, immersive, fantastic horror-centric experiences that surround high-energy food and beverage spaces by day turned haunting bars and eateries by night, the new concept marks the first time Universal has created a permanent horror experience beyond its theme parks.

It will deliver on the thrills and frights its horror fans have come to love and excite anyone looking for a new level of experiential entertainment. The space will also feature a continuously updated experience, must-see seasonal events, and one-of-a-kind merchandise.

Universal has long defined the horror genre with its classic films featuring iconic characters such as Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, and the Wolf Man – and redefined modern horror and suspense stories through collaborations with such high-profile filmmakers as Jason Blum, James Wan, and Jordan Peele.  Only Universal could ignite the thrill and excitement of this genre in full scale and three dimensions.

“Universal is known for our ability to deliver original, highly-themed and terrifying horror entertainment experiences for millions of fans every year,” said Page Thompson, President, New Ventures, Universal Parks & Resorts. “We are excited to give our global fanbase yet another way to get scared and have fun with fear in the heart of Las Vegas, the perfect place for this type of unique concept.”

Universal Parks & Resorts to Bring Entirely New Year-Round Horror Experience to Las Vegas Area 51

Universal’s new horror experience will be the anchor tenant in a 20-acre expansion of Las Vegas’ immersive AREA15 entertainment district that opened to the public in September 2020 and has attracted more than four million visitors since that time.

Occupying a 110,000-square-foot space, the new Universal experience is an innovative, creative complement to AREA15’s roots in experiential art and entertainment.

“AREA15 curates a constellation of best-in-class experiences. Universal’s never-been-done-before concept will be a perfect fit because our guests know they can expect fresh, exciting entertainment at AREA15,” said Winston Fisher, Chief Executive Officer, AREA15. “We are enormously gratified to have an extraordinary company like Universal as our partner as we embark on the next phase of growth for AREA15.”

Adding to the excitement of this new experience is the reaction from the Las Vegas community.

“Las Vegas is a vibrant community and increasingly known internationally for the creative arts experiences that we offer,” said City of Las Vegas Councilwoman Olivia Diaz. “Universal’s decision to anchor their next innovative creation in the city is exciting news for my residents and visitors alike. The job opportunities will be invaluable for our community, especially for those interested in the entertainment industry.”

As plans take shape, Universal Parks & Resorts looks forward to sharing more details about the concept along with the opening date.

FIVE CHILLING SCARE ZONES
Mobs of “scareactors” lurk in the fog to prey upon guests within five scare zones throughout the theme park.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2022

Horrors of Halloween (Production Central) – The Pumpkin Lord is back and more frightening than ever. His summoned ghosts, demons, witches, and more beckon guests to go against their better judgment and enter Halloween Horror Nights. Step into the haunts and delights that the 31st year has to offer. The giant, scaffolded “Halloween Horror Nights” sign from 2021 has returned to welcome guests.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2022

Scarecrow: Cursed Soil (Central Park) – Simple midwestern horror comes alive in Central Park. Flickering lanterns warn you to stay away from the suspicious scarecrows, but you’re lured in despite your instincts. Did you hear something rustling in the bushes, or was that just your imagination getting the best of you? These straw soldiers of the night are seeking their revenge.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2022

Conjure the Dark (San Francisco) – What would Halloween Horror Nights be without witches? A stage, likely set up for sacrifices, serves as the focus of the scare zone. Runes, enchantments, and rockwork make up the dark aura in the scare zone. Can you decipher the runes in time to save yourself from her otherwordly army? In the most clear pairing of the season, this scare zone fits in fully with the Spirits of the Coven house.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2022

Sweet Revenge (New York) – Too close to home? This scare zone is a Halloween carnival gone wrong. The elements that make up a happy Halloween festival — candy, parades, and music — are all turned on their head to be made rotten and evil. Major Sweets Candy Co. is at the root of this dark turn of events, supplying the local children with candy that has sparked a transformation into cold-blooded killers.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2022

Graveyard: Deadly Unrest (Hollywood) – Creep quietly — don’t disturb the dead. See the darker side of Tinseltown through this beautiful, gothic-styled cemetery. Large mausoleums structured around daunting archways and pointed spires are a testament to the deceased. Can you escape the reanimated corpses set on your soul?

TWO LIVE SHOWS
When guests need a breather from the terror, they can enjoy two new scary-good shows.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2022

Ghoulish! A Halloween Tale, which follows the Grim Reaper on the undertaking of what happens beyond the grave as popular, eerily remixed music brings the waters of the Universal Studios lagoon to life.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2022

Halloween Nightmare Fuel Wildfire – a sequel to last year’s fan-favorite “Halloween Nightmare Fuel” – featuring a new Dreamer in the depths of a new nightmare set to a heart-pounding metal, rock, and electronica soundtrack.

Tickets for Halloween Horror Nights are available now online.

Guests will face 10 terrifying haunted houses, five twisted scare zones and two outrageous live shows based on some of the biggest names in horror and pop culture – with the first haunted house of the season featuring the ‘ghost with the most’ and Halloween Horror Nights legend, “Beetlejuice.”

Beetlejuice was the first “ghost host” of Halloween Horror Nights – originally called ‘Fright Nights’ – during the event’s debut in 1991. As Halloween Horror Nights 2021 celebrates a milestone year, this former host will become the supernatural star of a bone-chilling haunted house based on Warner Bros. Pictures and Tim Burton’s Academy Award-winning horror-fantasy film.

Guests will be at the whim of the self-described “Bio-Exorcist” as they shadow Beetlejuice’s every move through artfully recreated scenes from the popular film.

Halloween Horror Nights - Beetlejuice

From the infamous haunted attic within the Maitland home, to the model graveyard and Dante’s Inferno Room, guests will have the extraordinary chance to enter the movie surrounded by its most iconic characters.

With brash defiance, Beetlejuice is ready to turn on the juice and see what shakes loose – and his plans don’t include returning to the land of the unliving.

And this is just the beginning… more details about Halloween Horror Nights 2021 will be revealed in the months ahead.

Universal Orlando will continue to monitor the environment and implement enhanced health and safety procedures for its operation of Halloween Horror Nights this fall. Specific details will be shared closer to the event’s debut. For more information about Universal Orlando’s current health and safety guidelines, click here.
