Born in China, the seventh theatrical release for Disneynature, is set to open on April 21st, and you won’t want your chance to get a glimpse at China’s vast terrain from the frigid mountains to the heart of the bamboo forest.
Narrated by John Krasinski, the Disneynature new True Life Adventure film Born In China follows the stories of three animal families to some of the world’s most extreme environments to witness wildly intimate moments in the lives of these animals, whose day-to-day endeavors are both captivating and comical.

“The film explores the circle of life in a very emotional and uplifting way,” says producer Roy Conli. “Each story depicts a reality of life that is reflective of our own human experience. It’s compelling to see how animals share certain values that we hold dear.”
Born in China is directed by accomplished Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan, and produced by Disney’s Roy Conli and renowned nature filmmakers Brian Leith and Phil Chapman. The fi lm features an orchestral score composed by Emmy-winner Barnaby Taylor that incorporates authentic Chinese flavors. New York-based band American Authors penned and performed the end-credit song “Everything Everything.”
As a bonus moviegoers who see Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure Born in China during its opening week (April 21-27, 2017) will benefit the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Based on opening-week attendance, Disneynature, via the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, will make a contribution to the WWF to help protect wild pandas and snow leopards.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorite attractions at both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland, and the more I hear the more excited I get for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales!
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck 10-10-16 Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.

Catch a Sneak Peek of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Beginning February 10th, guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be able to preview a scene from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast that will be arriving in theaters on March 17, 2017!
This advanced look at the segment from the film can be found in the One Man’s Dream attraction, and it will also include a display featuring a collection of props and costume pieces actually used in the film’s production.
This amazing restoration is sourced from digital scans of a 16mm silent print that was made in 1930 for home use and discovered in the UK. This is one of only three known surviving prints on this title.
Max Lark on D23.com shared a little bit of the history behind the short.
In 1927, while Walt was wrapping up the “Alice Comedies,” his distributor, Charles Mintz, brokered a deal with Universal for Walt to create a cartoon character. That new character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, would go on to star in 26 cartoons from the Disney studio. The series proved popular, and the character was the first to generate Disney merchandise—a candy bar, a stencil set, and a pin-back button!
Poor Papa was the first Oswald cartoon produced, but Mintz felt that Oswald looked “old” so the short was not released. The next Oswald short Walt and Ub produced, Trolley Troubles on September 5, 1927, debuted a redesigned younger version of Oswald. Given this second short’s positive critical reaction by the public, Universal and Mintz ultimately released Poor Papa on June 11, 1928. In this rather charming story, a bunch of storks bombard Oswald with bunnies until our hero figures out a way to thwart them.
All-New Original Song announced for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Soundtrack
Five-time Grammy winning and best-selling recording artist Celine Dion will perform an all-new original song, “How Does A Moment Last Forever,” for Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast that is included on the film’s soundtrack.
Written by eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin”) and veteran lyricist and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (“The Lion King,” “Evita”), “How Does A Moment Last Forever” is an emotional ballad about holding onto life’s precious moments. Portions of the song are performed throughout the film and interpolated into the underscore before Dion’s full-length version debuts in the film’s custom main-on-end title design.
Says Dion, “Being a part of the original ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was such a magical experience in my life, and I’m truly honored to be a part of this film again.”

Production has begun on Disney’s Magic Camp, a live-action comedy starring Adam Devine (“Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,” “Pitch Perfect”), Gillian Jacobs (“Community,” “Girls”) and Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent,” “The Larry Sanders Show”) directed by Mark Waters (“Bad Santa 2,” “Mean Girls”).
Tambor plays Roy Preston, the owner of a summer camp for aspiring young magicians and Devine is Andy, a former camper whose flailing career as a magician has forced him to return to the camp as a counselor. Also returning to the camp is Andy’s former partner and current nemesis, Darkwood, played by Jacobs, who is now a successful magician. When preparations begin for the end-of-summer magic contest between rival teams of campers, Andy and his team of ragtag misfits must go head to head with Darkwood and her campers. Cars 3 Extended Look
Cars 3 is an all-new story that tests the heart of a champion in a high-tech world, and we have learned about two new characters and a new extended look at the movie was released!
It was announced that Cristela Alonzo, as unconventional trainer Cruz Ramirez, and Armie Hammer, as next-gen racer Jackson Storm, will be joining Owen Wilson in the cast of Cars 3.
Cruz Ramirez is a sunny-but-fierce unconventional trainer at the Rust-eze Racing Center. She expertly arms the team’s talented rookies with cutting-edge tools to tear up the track—but she nearly stalls when her longtime idol Lightning McQueen shows up. While she’d love to help him find his way back to the top, she knows the competition is faster than ever, and victory is all about speed—or is it?
Jackson Storm is fast, sleek and ready to race. A frontrunner in the next generation of racers, Storm’s quiet confidence and cocky demeanor are off-putting—but his unmatched speed threatens to redefine the sport. Trained on high-tech simulators that are programmed to perfect technique and maximize velocity, Jackson Storm is literally built to be unbeatable—and he knows it.
Lightning McQueen is world champion—a modern-day racing legend who’s riding high with five Piston-Cup wins under his hood. Suddenly, he finds himself faced with a new generation of racers who threaten not only his dominance in the sport—but the confidence that got him there. Determined to get back to the pole position, the #95 must decide if his love for racing is enough to fuel the comeback of his life.
And finally in Cars 3 news, I wanted to share the new extended look!

New in 2017: Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate
March 17, 2017 –Beauty and the Beast (Walt Disney Studios)
Every time I see the Beauty and the Beast trailer I have to catch my breath a little, because Belle is one of my top Disney Princesses and I cannot wait to watch Emma Watson as Belle live out the dream of dancing with Beast in the ballroom or to see/hate Luke Evans as Gaston.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs.
“Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

April 21, 2017 – Born In China (Disneynature)
Watching Born in China will be the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day this year! With stunning footage of never-before-seen imagery of China’s vast terrain, the movie’s adventure takes us through and above the frigid mountains to the heart of the bamboo forest while telling a compelling story.
Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure film “Born In China” takes an epic journey into the wilds of China where few people have ever ventured.
Following the stories of three animal families, the film transports audiences to some of the most extreme environments on Earth to witness some of the most intimate moments ever captured in a nature film. A doting panda bear mother guides her growing baby as she begins to explore and seek independence. A two-year-old golden monkey who feels displaced by his new baby sister joins up with a group of free-spirited outcasts. And a mother snow leopard—an elusive animal rarely caught on camera—faces the very real drama of raising her two cubs in one of the harshest and most unforgiving environments on the planet.
Disneynature's Born In China – Earth Day Trailer
It’s been awesome to be able to share the next generation of ‘True Life Adventure’ films that I loved so much with my daughter, and Born in China looks to be an fantastic addition to the Disneynature films.
May 5, 2017 – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Marvel Studios)
The first Marvel Studios release in the 2017 Motion Picture Slate is going to set the bar pretty high for the summer, because I don’t know too many people who aren’t hyped for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Teaser Trailer
Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos.
The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.
I. Cannot. Wait. From the moment I saw the first teaser photo, I flipped! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 seems to be a continuation of the adventures with a perfect combination of action, witty dialogue, & amazing music…and this time we get more Baby Groot!
May 26, 2017 – PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES (Walt Disney Studios)
Fans of the Disney Parks can’t help but get excited to hear more familiar words that echo in the caverns of the attraction on the big screen! Dead Men Tell No Tales is a continuation of a story and ride that I have enjoyed most of my life!
Teaser Trailer: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. What could be wrong about having more Captain Jack Sparrow in 2017???
June 16, 2017 – CARS 3 (Disney / Pixar)
The intensity of the Cars 3 teaser trailer made me realize how emotionally invested I was in Lightning McQueen…A sentence I never thought I would type.
Cars 3 Official US Teaser Trailer
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves.
To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
When Zoe was younger we watched Cars on repeat and then when Cars 2 was released I watched as she enjoyed racing with her friends again, and now I can’t wait to experience Cars 3 with my favorite passenger!
November 3, 2017 – Thor: Ragnarok (Marvel Studios)
While Tony Stark is my main man, I can’t help but wait to see one of my other favorite Avengers back on the big screen.
In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!
Thor? Gladiatorial contest? The Incredible Hulk? Evil villain? I’m all in!
November 22, 2017 – COCO (Disney / Pixar)
At the 2015 D23 Expo in Anaheim, I was lucky (lucky = waited in the basement of the convention center for hours with great friends, even better conversation, and mediocre snacks) to snag a seat at the Walt Disney Studios presentation to hear about Coco.
Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt).
Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
I have always been intrigued by the Día de los Muertos celebrations, so you can only imagine what my excitement level is on a scale from 1 to 10…it’s an 11!
December 15, 2017 – STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII (Lucasfilm)
2017 is going to end in a galaxy far, far away when Star Wars: Episode VIII hits the screen.
Now while we don’t know much about what adventures we will go on, we do know that this journey will push the boundaries of the saga even further.
Is there really a better way to end an amazing year of films?
If you aren’t pumped for the 2017 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate, then I don’t know if we can be friends! This is the stuff that movie dreams are made of, and I can’t wait to share more information and even some fun activities about them this year.
We are quickly creeping into fall with school having started, Halloween parties underway, and football season here. This means it is time to revisit one of my all time favorite movies that is perfect for this time of year, Clue the Movie. The1985 comedy film is set in 1954 New England and definitely feels like it is set in the fall. If you haven’t yet seen Clue, which is based on the classic board game from Parker Brothers, now owned by Hasbro, you need to get on it!
Clue is a mystery wrapped in comedy and stars some great comedic actors like Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, Martin Mull, Michael McKean, Eileen Brennan, and Lesley Ann Warren. Like the game, you have the color themed names for characters including Mrs. White, Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, and Miss Scarlet. You also have Tim Curry as the seventh lead, Wadsworth, along with a supporting cast of characters and household staff: Mrs. Ho the cook, Yvette the maid, Mr. Boddy, the cop, the motorist, the singing telegram girl, and a few others which I won’t revel for fear of spoiling the plot of a 30+ year old movie.
While set in a somewhat creepy mansion on of course a dark and stormy night, the movie is definitely more comedy than scary. There are the rooms featured in the game, like the conservatory and such, but with others not mentioned in the game to flesh out the setting since 99% of the movie takes place entirely inside the mansion, Hill House. Rated PG for some very mild violence, a little bit of language, and some sexual innuendos. I would say ages 10 and up should be fine for this, but definitely use your own discretion and do some homework before you let your kids watch.
There are a ton of memorable lines, which make Clue great. The smart script will have most laughing throughout much of the film despite the somewhat dark subject of multiple murders. The soundtrack is fantastic, if you can track it down. I quote this movie probably more often than most due to the dozens of times I’ve watched it since I was introduced to it at my friend Rachel’s birthday party in sixth grade. Miss Scarlet is my favorite character, played by Lesley Ann Warren, and is the most sarcastic and quippy of the bunch, in my opinion. I had the pleasure of meeting the fabulous Ms. Warren at Disney’s D23 Expo last summer in Anaheim. She was so gracious in taking several minutes speaking with me about the film and said it was as much fun to make as it looks like it would be.
Clue the movie is one of those movies that I will watch any time it is on tv. I have the dvd and soundtrack, and plan on upgrading to the blu ray soon. It is a fun romp with scary dobermans, rainy and windy weather with appropriate splashes of thunder and lightning for accents, murder (what do you mean, murder?), and screams. If you’re looking for something to set the fall mood as we get closer to Halloween, I cannot recommend Clue enough. And remember, 1+1+2+1 does not equal 1+2+2+1. Flames, on the side of my face. Okay, I’ll stop now.
A while back I did a post about Disney Movie Bunnies and Rabbits, and today I’d like to look at Disney cats and kittens of all shapes and sizes. For this look at the felines on film, I’m going to focus on compiling a list of the cats from Disney animated movies since there are so many in this category alone. From the most recent Zootopia from earlier this year, back to 1940’s Pinocchio, check out these cool cats of cinema.
Numerous background chracters or unnamed lions, tigers, and cheetahs oh my from Zootopia are cats. There are dozens if not more cats of all sizes as would be expected in an animal centric world themed movie. I’ll list as many named characters as I can, but will also include some minor ones too.
Mochi aka Hairy baby in Big Hero 6
Mittens in Bolt

Fluffy in Atlantis
Yzma turns into a cat in the Emperors New Groove

Disclosure: I was provided with a copy of Adventures in Babysitting for this review, but all opinions are my own.
As a child of the 80’s Adventures in Babysitting was one of my favorite movies to watch! So when I saw that a newer version would be the 100th Disney Channel Original Movie (or DCOM) I was really excited.
In “Adventures in Babysitting,” a dull evening for two competing babysitters, Jenny (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lola (Sofia Carson), turns into an adventure in the big city as they hunt for one of the kids who somehow snuck away.
Adventures in Babysitting | First Look! | Trailer #2 | Official Disney Channel NEW HD
If you approach this version of the movie expecting a remake of the original you will be disappointed, because while the movie draws inspiration from the original this is definitely a movie for a younger generation.
You will find that in this version the references and shenanigans are updated to include cell phones, the internet, and scenarios that ‘kids these days’ may find themselves in, there are still a ton of throwbacks and nods to the 1987 classic movie. That being said there is one change that was made that definitely stuck out, or at least it did for me because I clearly remember watching it when I was younger and realizing it was the first time I heard a ‘bad word’ in a movie. But while you won’t be able to join in the fun of the ‘Don’t F**** with the Babysitter’ line, there is still a moment in the movie that pays homage to that iconic line…I mean, this is Disney after all!
Watching the newest version of Adventures in Babysitting as a family was a really fun way to spend a summer night, and Zoe has already asked to have it join the rotation of our favorite movies!

The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic The BFG to life.
Disney's The BFG – Official Trailer 2
Directed by Spielberg, Disney’s The BFG tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country.
Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming, and, having never met a giant before, has many questions. ‘The BFG’ brings Sophie to Dream Country where he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching her all about the magic and mystery of dreams. Having both been on their own in the world up until now, their affection for one another quickly grows, but Sophie’s presence in Giant Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome. Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London to see the Queen (Penelope Wilton) and warn her of the precarious giant situation, but they must first convince the Queen and her maid, Mary (Rebecca Hall), that giants do indeed exist. Together, they come up with a plan to get rid of the giants once and for all.
‘The BFG’ opens in U.S. theaters on July 1, 2016, the year that marks the 100th anniversary of Dahl’s birth.

Marvel's Doctor Strange Teaser Trailer
Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Dr. Stephen Strange in the first full trailer for “Doctor Strange,” in theaters on November 4, 2016, and unlike some Marvel movies this one has a focus on mysticism.
The trailer gives us a glimpse into the backstory, world, and journey of Dr. Strange.
Even Dr. Strange doesn’t buy into the world of possibilities that the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) tells him about saying “I don’t believe in fairy tales about chakras or energy or the power of belief.” His story soon takes a dramatic turn as he see firsthand what the world could be.

In honor of the new live action Jungle Book movie coming out next week, I thought I’d take a look back at the 1967 classic animated feature film and its music. This movie holds a place near and dear to many Disney fans’ hearts as one of the last films ever that Walt Disney personally had a hand in directly influencing it. The music from the Jungle Book stands out as some of the best from the Disney movies of the 1960s. The soundtrack was nominated for both an Oscar for Best Original Song for “The Bare Necessities,” and for a Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children.
The Mellomen, who Disney fans may know as the voices of the singing busts in the Haunted Mansion among other things, including Thurl Ravenscroft and Bill Lee, helped provide the singing voices of the Dawn Patrol elephants in “Colonel Hathi’s March” and its reprise in the Jungle Book.
The Bare Necessities was written by Terry Gilkyson, but was deemed a bit too dark in its original incarnation. Van Dyke Parks, who is a famous arranger, composer and songwriter known for working with the Beach Boys, did a new and more upbeat arrangement for the song performed by Phil Harris as Baloo and Bruce Reitherman, who was the voice of Mowgli and the son of director Wolfgang Reitherman.
Phil Harris and Louis Prima who voiced Baloo and King Louie respectively. The men improvised all the scatting that they did in the Jungle Book during their song “I Wanna Be Like You.” Both were popular jazz singers and musicians in their day.
Richard and Robert Sherman were brought in to take over as songwriters and composers after Walt Disney found the original songs from Terry Gilkyson to be too dark, although more true to the tone of the Kipling version of the Jungle Book. The Sherman Brothers repurposed a song called “Land of Sand” they had written for Mary Poppins which was not used, and turned it into “Trust In Me.” Kaa was voiced by longtime Disney veteran Sterling Holloway.
Did you know that the singing Vultures in the Jungle Book were originally intended to be voiced by the Beatles? Supposedly John Lennon nixed the idea or there was a scheduling conflict, but the appearance and voices of the vultures still are clearly inspired by the Beatles. To make the vultures have a more timeless sound, the music was changed to a barbershop quartet to sing the song “That’s What Friends Are For.” One of the Mellomen, Bill Lee, provided the singing voice of Shere Khan for the song.
The instrumental version of the song “My Own Home” is woven throughout the score of the Jungle Book. Famous Disney composer George Bruns wrote the score, while the Sherman Brothers wrote all the songs with the exception of “The Bare Necessities,” which was the only surviving song from Terry Gilkyson.
