Know Before You Go: AMC Theaters

With AMC Theaters getting ready to once again welcome moviegoers on the 20th, there are a few things that you will want to know before you once again go to the movies!

AMC Theaters

Masks Required for All

Masks are required for guests and crew throughout the AMC theatres.

Your mask must cover your nose and mouth and fit snugly around your face and chin. Neck gaiters, open-chin bandanas, and masks with vents or exhalation valves are not acceptable at this time, based on World Health Organization guidelines.

If needed, masks are available to purchase for just $1.

AMC Theaters

Food & Drinks in the Auditorium

In the auditorium, masks are still required but may be removed while enjoying food and drinks.

Protect yourself and others by wearing a mask before, during, and after your movie.

AMC Theaters

Social Distancing Standards

Please remember to maintain distance before, during, and after the movie.

Follow the directional signs and reminders posted throughout the theatre for guidance.

AMC Theaters

Reduced AMC Theaters Auditorium Capacities

All AMC, AMC DINE-IN, and AMC CLASSIC auditoriums are at 40% capacity or less, based on municipality guidelines.

In auditoriums with AMC Signature Recliners, the new ticketing technology will block the seats on either side of your selection, and there is already enough space between rows to allow for social distancing.

In auditoriums with traditional seating, the technology will block the seats surrounding your selection.

In auditoriums that do not offer reserved seating, please make sure to leave an adequate distance between yourself and other guests.

Once you’re in the auditorium, if you are uncomfortable in your reserved seat, feel free to move to another socially distant seat after the movie starts or see an associate for assistance or a refund.

AMC Theaters

Cashless Transactions

Where tickets are sold credit, debit, or AMC gift cards are preferred to reduce contact, but cash is accepted and may be used if needed to purchase a gift card for movie treats.

Cash is not accepted at concessions or MacGuffins Bar in order to avoid shared contact between cash and food handling.

At select theatres where tickets and concessions are sold at one location, cash will be accepted if no other form of payment is possible.

AMC Theaters

Hand Sanitizer & Disinfecting Wipes Available

Take advantage of the sanitizer and wipe stations throughout the theatre, especially at concessions, before, and after pouring your favorite Coca-Cola Freestyle drink.

AMC Theaters

Simplified Menu Selections

For shorter lines and quicker service, you will find that they have temporarily simplified the available menu selections.

The classic movie treats like AMC Perfectly Popcorn, Coca-Cola Freestyle, hot dogs, candy, MovieNachos, AMC KidsPacks, and more are available now with the menu expanding as soon as possible.

AMC Theaters

Refills Temporarily Unavailable

To minimize contact, AMC Perfectly Popcorn and Coca-Cola Freestyle drink refills are unavailable at this time.

AMC Theaters

Frequent Hand Washing

Make sure to wash your hands often and avoid touching your face.

Managers and crew members are required to routinely wash their hands for at least 20 seconds.

AMC Theaters

Daily Associate Health Screenings

Managers and crew members have their temperatures read before starting their shifts.

Anyone who has a fever or symptoms is required to self-quarantine until symptom-free for at least 72 hours.

AMC Theaters

Self-Check Your Health

If you have symptoms such as fever or cough or have come in contact with someone with symptoms, please take care and come back to see a movie when you are well.

I am REALLY excited about the new ‘Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian’ 8 episode series that takes fans behind the scenes of the first live-action Star Wars series.

In the series Executive Producer, Jon Favreau along with the cast and crew share an unprecedented look at the making of the series through interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by Favreau himself.

I don’t know about your house, but my house is excited for the final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, “Victory and Death.”

Created by George Lucas and shepherded by Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian), the animated series first aired in 2008 and became an entry point into Star Wars for an entire generation, following fan-favorites like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padmé Amidala, while introducing major new characters like Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. Star Wars: The Clone Wars became a multiple-Emmy Award winner and a favorite among Star Wars fans.

The final season features Ahsoka Tano and Rex on their adventures that lead up to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

3. Stream Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

This week there is going to be a concept art takeover on Disney+ featuring each Star Wars film’s and series’ artwork.

From Star Wars: A New Hope to The Mandalorian, the updated art will feature pieces from celebrated artists such as the legendary Ralph McQuarrie and Academy Award-winning artist, author, and production designer, Doug Chiang. On the Disney+ home screen, the animated Star Wars brand tile, viewable on web and connected TV devices, gets upgraded with a new animation that honors the signature hyperspace jump.

Dream Big, Princess Movie Series Returns to AMC this Fall

Dream Big, Princess Movie Series Fall 2019

AMC Movie Theatres have once again partnered with Disney’s Dream Big, Princess program this Fall to bring four beloved Disney princess feature films to the big screen for audiences to enjoy.

Some of these haven’t been shown on the big screen in ages, meaning it might be a first-time viewing for young Disney fans.

While we are still months away from Walt Disney Animation whisking audiences back to the mythical land of Arendelle for the further adventures of Anna and Elsa in FROZEN II, this is a great way to get excited for the new film coming to theaters on November 22nd!

The schedule for the 2019 Dream Big, Princess program will be as follows.

Dream Big, Princess Movie Series AMC Movie Theatres Fall 2019
Walt Disney Animation Studios

The Little Mermaid: September 6–12

Purchase Advance Tickets

Soon to be made into a live-action feature starring Halle Bailey, THE LITTLE MERMAID follows a restless mermaid who dreams of one day living on the surface. To get there, Ariel trades her greatest gift — her beautiful singing voice — for a pair of legs. Come for the music, including brilliant songs like “Under the Sea,” which won a Best Original Song Oscar in 1989.

Dream Big, Princess Movie Series AMC Movie Theatres Fall 2019
Walt Disney Animation Studios

Beauty and the Beast: September 13–19

Purchase Advance Tickets

A tale as old as time … and one that always warrants a big-screen viewing. The 1991 animated version translates the classic romance for a contemporary audience, riding on the coattails of some incredible songs, such as “Be Our Guest” as well as the title track.

Dream Big, Princess Movie Series AMC Movie Theatres Fall 2019
Walt Disney Animation Studios

Tangled: September 20–26

Purchase Advance Tickets

Rapunzel may have let down her hair, but TANGLED did not let down animation audiences looking for a new winner from Walt Disney Animation. Mandy Moore plays the fiery Rapunzel, and she is no damsel in distress. But the true star of TANGLED is the animators who turned Rapunzel’s flowing blonde hair into its own character.

Dream Big, Princess Movie Series AMC Movie Theatres Fall 2019
Walt Disney Animation Studios

The Princess and the Frog: September 27–October 3

Purchase Advance Tickets

Relatively new compared to the other titles on this list, though PRINCESS has built up a steady fan base over the years, and we expect them to turn out to see this one on the big screen once again. FROG has a distinct New Orleans flavor to it, tapping into the music and cuisine of the Bayou. But it also has star power, with Anika Noni Rose, Keith David and Oprah Winfrey all lending their voices.

Each film in the series will get a one-week run in participating theatres.

It’s worth noting that this will be the animated version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST — the one that was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars— and that warrants a big-screen revisiting every chance we get.

Advance Purchase tickets for the Dream Big, Princess series at AMC Movie Theatre are available now using the links under each movie title (which, BTW, are NOT affiliate links), and if you are looking to visit the AMC at Disney Springs showings are at 2pm and 6pm at the AMC DINE-IN Disney Springs 24.

Disneynature Born In China Opens April 21st

Born in China, the seventh theatrical release for Disneynature, is set to open on April 21st, and you won’t want your chance to get a glimpse at China’s vast terrain from the frigid mountains to the heart of the bamboo forest.

2017 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate - Born in China poster

Narrated by John Krasinski, the Disneynature new True Life Adventure film Born In China follows the stories of three animal families to some of the world’s most extreme environments to witness wildly intimate moments in the lives of these animals, whose day-to-day endeavors are both captivating and comical.

A doting panda bear mother guides her growing baby as she begins to explore and seek independence.

A 2-year-old golden snub-nosed monkey, who feels displaced by his new baby sister, joins up with a group of free-spirited outcasts.

And a mother snow leopard—an elusive animal rarely seen by human eyes—faces the very real drama of raising her two cubs in one of the harshest and most unforgiving environments on Earth.

httpv://youtu.be/CCer8juWoBg

“The film explores the circle of life in a very emotional and uplifting way,” says producer Roy Conli. “Each story depicts a reality of life that is reflective of our own human experience. It’s compelling to see how animals share certain values that we hold dear.”

Born in China is directed by accomplished Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan, and produced by Disney’s Roy Conli and renowned nature filmmakers Brian Leith and Phil Chapman. The fi lm features an orchestral score composed by Emmy-winner Barnaby Taylor that incorporates authentic Chinese flavors. New York-based band American Authors penned and performed the end-credit song “Everything Everything.”

As a bonus moviegoers who see Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure Born in China during its opening week (April 21-27, 2017) will benefit the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Based on opening-week attendance, Disneynature, via the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, will make a contribution to the WWF to help protect wild pandas and snow leopards.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit News

A restored print of Poor Papa(1927), the first Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon, will be included when the Walt Disney Signature Collection Presents Disney Pinocchio is available on Blu-ray and DVD on January 31st.

This amazing restoration is sourced from digital scans of a 16mm silent print that was made in 1930 for home use and discovered in the UK. This is one of only three known surviving prints on this title.

Max Lark on D23.com shared a little bit of the history behind the short.

In 1927, while Walt was wrapping up the “Alice Comedies,” his distributor, Charles Mintz, brokered a deal with Universal for Walt to create a cartoon character. That new character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, would go on to star in 26 cartoons from the Disney studio. The series proved popular, and the character was the first to generate Disney merchandise—a candy bar, a stencil set, and a pin-back button!

Poor Papa was the first Oswald cartoon produced, but Mintz felt that Oswald looked “old” so the short was not released. The next Oswald short Walt and Ub produced, Trolley Troubles on September 5, 1927, debuted a redesigned younger version of Oswald. Given this second short’s positive critical reaction by the public, Universal and Mintz ultimately released Poor Papa on June 11, 1928. In this rather charming story, a bunch of storks bombard Oswald with bunnies until our hero figures out a way to thwart them.

All-New Original Song announced for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Soundtrack

Five-time Grammy winning and best-selling recording artist Celine Dion will perform an all-new original song, “How Does A Moment Last Forever,” for Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast that is included on the film’s soundtrack.

Written by eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin”) and veteran lyricist and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (“The Lion King,” “Evita”), “How Does A Moment Last Forever” is an emotional ballad about holding onto life’s precious moments. Portions of the song are performed throughout the film and interpolated into the underscore before Dion’s full-length version debuts in the film’s custom main-on-end title design.

Says Dion, “Being a part of the original ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was such a magical experience in my life, and I’m truly honored to be a part of this film again.”

Tambor plays Roy Preston, the owner of a summer camp for aspiring young magicians and Devine is Andy, a former camper whose flailing career as a magician has forced him to return to the camp as a counselor. Also returning to the camp is Andy’s former partner and current nemesis, Darkwood, played by Jacobs, who is now a successful magician. When preparations begin for the end-of-summer magic contest between rival teams of campers, Andy and his team of ragtag misfits must go head to head with Darkwood and her campers. In the process, Andy is inspired by the young campers and rediscovers his passion for magic.

The film is shooting on locations in and around Los Angeles and is scheduled for release in 2017.
