Raglan Road Announces Mighty Festival – Unplugged

In 2021, Raglan Road Irish Pub’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Disney Springs will be a festival like no other with the Mighty Festival-Unplugged.

Think more acoustic than electric. More intimate than boisterous. The same great live entertainment, with all bands imported from Ireland. The same delicious Irish food and drink. It’s the most authentic Irish celebration in America, and it’s putting safety first for guests with a reservation-only event.

“Everyone can enjoy the usual lively happenings and practiced hospitality, which includes gift competitions and loads of giveaways,” says pub co-owner John Cooke. “And it remains the best Irish hospitality experience in America.”

On St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, Raglan Road will open at 10 a.m. with a $10 cover charge for guests. Reservations are strongly recommended due to limited space.

Guests can book a two-hour slot to join the Raglan Road Irish Pub festivities at Disney Springs, with numbers strictly managed to guarantee social distancing is respected. This year, gathering around bars or stages will not be permitted.

The pub requests that guests respect their two-hour booking to ensure that as many of Raglan Road’s loyal fans have the chance to enjoy America’s finest St. Patrick’s festival.

Raglan Road guests can sip from a huge range of Irish whiskeys, local craft beers and hand-crafted cocktails while choosing from the chef’s selection of authentic Irish dishes, including fresh-caught fish with chips. Those authentic fish & chips also are available to go at the adjacent Cooke’s of Dublin counter.

The Mighty Festival – Unplugged! entertainment lineup will begin with the Raglan Road Irish Dancers, plucked from the casts and stages of the world’s greatest Irish dance shows. This troupe of extraordinary dancers will perform throughout the festival.

Entertainment on the main stage will include:

11 a.m.-1 p.m.— The Byrne Brothers – This exceptionally talented traditional Irish music family from Donegal plays to their audience with vibrant charm. They are Luca (button accordion); Finn (banjo, mandolin and whistle); Dempsey (whistle and bodhran); and father, Tommy (guitar, Uilleann pipes, fiddle, whistles, bagpipes and bodhran). Their show combines exciting traditional Irish tunes with modern dance beats.
From 1:30 p.m.– Slygo – A talented, energetic trio, Slygo combine their youth and heritage to perform a vibrant, uplifting mix of trad and contemporary Irish tunes and songs. Signatures of this talented group are their lively arrangements of renowned songs.
From 5 p.m.-Close– Men of Aran – These two legends of the traditional Irish music world, Colin Farrell and David Curley, have toured, performed and recorded with numerous trad Irish music luminaries. They are gifted entertainers and masters of their craft.

On the Patio Stage, guests can enjoy:

From 12:30 p.m. – Aaron O’Sullivan — A singer-songwriter/guitarist from County Cork, O’Sullivan entertains with a mixture of traditional Irish ballads and modern Irish songs.
6:30 p.m.-Close –Slygo

At the pub’s Shop for Ireland boutique, guests will find an array of Irish gifts including Celtic jewelry, apparel, hats, home goods, and toys.

Over at Disney Springs Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant is going to celebrate National Irish Coffee Day Monday on January 25th, with a special guest offer for the pub’s traditional Irish Coffee: “You buy the coffee, the whiskey is on us!”

Raglan Road general manager Alan Delahunt invites guests to raise a glass to the national holiday that’s sure to be a wake-up call.

“It’s good to see Irish coffee getting the recognition it deserves,” Delahunt says. “It’s a great drink any time of day, and if whiskey and coffee get their own national days, Irish coffee should have its day in the sun, too.”

At Raglan Road, the traditional Irish coffee promo gives caffeine and whiskey fans something to tap their toes about as they enjoy the pub’s live Irish music and dance. The Traditional Irish coffee special offer is a finely-tuned mix of coffee, whiskey, sugar, and cream.

Other coffee-based cocktails are on the menu daily: the Bush-Tail Nitro is a cold-pressed Foxtail brew on draft infused with brown sugar syrup and Bushmills Irish whiskey topped with cream.

The Iced Irish features Baileys Salted Caramel with iced coffee, butterscotch schnapps, and Paddy’s Irish Whiskey topped with whipped cream.

The Bailey’s Shake is a frozen mix of ice cream, Baileys Irish Cream, and coffee liqueur.

“In Ireland, the Irish coffee is definitely a staple,” Delahunt says. “So we are ‘delira and excira’ to have an opportunity to celebrate this fantastic libation and to share our promotion of a traditional Irish staple with our guests. Alex Levine put it best when he said, ‘Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and fat.’”

2021 Food Events at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is offering the perfect gift option for foodies this holiday season – tickets to one of three food and beverage events hosted by the resort on January 16, February 7, and February 27, 2021.

Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel Fall 2020 September 2020 October 2020

On January 16 and February 27, the resort will host Food & Wine Classic: A Taste of Swan and Dolphin from 5:30-8:00 p.m., with each event offering 10 food stations from the hotel’s award-winning restaurants and more than 50 beverage offerings. Both will feature live entertainment and unlimited food and beverage tastings, including dessert selections from the hotel’s world champion pastry chef, Laurent Branlard.

Highlights include:

Roasted organic pumpkin ravioli gnudi with seared sea scallop, whipped ricotta cheese, and pumpkin gremolata (served by Todd English’s bluezoo at the January 16 event)

You can’t celebrate what’s to come without looking back at how it all started!

The dining, shopping, and entertainment district Disney Springs was still called Downtown Disney in 2005 when the authentic Irish pub, owned and operated by Irish partners John Cooke and Paul Nolan, opened its doors offering a lively mix of authentic Irish entertainment, contemporary Irish cuisine, and a warm interior of aged walnut and mahogany woods from old Irish bars and churches was built in Ireland and shipped to Orlando.

Now situated at The Landing at Disney Springs and having garnered multiple dining and entertainment awards through the years, Raglan Road features daily choreographed Irish stage shows by talented bands and an award-winning step-dance troupe. A dining destination for travelers and locals, Raglan Road last month earned Orlando magazine’s 2020 Reader’s Choice first-place Dining Award for Best Live Music Entertainment. The pub’s popular annual Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival and its Labor Day weekend boutique Irish music festival, the Great Irish Hooley, have welcomed many thousands of festival-goers each year.

Initially featuring lunch, dinner, and late-night pub grub, Raglan Road in 2013 introduced its Rollicking Raglan Brunch on Sundays, eventually expanding to Saturdays, as well. Raglan Road closed in mid-March due to pandemic-related restaurant shutdowns and reopened in June after incorporating a long list of safety measures throughout the restaurant. Guests can book socially-distanced tables for dinner and for the Rollicking Raglan Weekend Brunch. Drop-in guests may find distanced seating at one of the pub’s bars, in one of three dining rooms, or on the patio, but reservations are highly recommended.

Currently, Raglan Road also features live entertainment nightly including a suite of shows featuring Irish bands and dancers. Guests also can enjoy shows beginning at noon during the weekend Rollicking Raglan Brunch. Dinner is served from 4-11 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday Brunch is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The pub’s Shop for Ireland boutique is open daily and packed with everything from cookbooks and kitchen wares to a wide selection of apparel, jewelry, flat caps, ball caps, and foodstuffs. Cooke’s of Dublin, the Irish quick-service restaurant adjacent to the pub, offers traditional favorites like Dublin-style fish & chips, burgers, and savory pies to carry out, eat in or devour at an outside table from noon to 10 p.m.

Chef Mickey’s to Debut New Breakfast

I am really excited that Mickey Mouse and his pals will be returning to breakfast at Chef Mickey’s restaurant in Disney’s Contemporary Resort on December 16, bringing some new items to the menu inspired by their favorite dishes.

When Chef Mickey’s reopens the menu will feature traditional breakfast favorites as well as new dishes that are sure to be crowd-pleasers!

First, guests will be able to try the new Mickey’s “Celebration” Pancake, featuring whipped cream, celebration sprinkles, shimmering pixie dust, and more.

For something a bit more savory, you can choose to enjoy the new “Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole topped with smoked bacon crumbles and chives.

Last but not least is Goofy’s Banana Bread French Toast that combines unique flavors of banana bread baked in zesty orange-scented French toast batter, Espresso-mascarpone cream, toasted bananas, and chocolate crumbles.

If you can’t decide on which new item to try, you’ll be able to taste all three as part of an all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style feast with other traditional breakfast favorites.

When Mickey and friends return, the experience may look a little different than the last time you visited, but you can still expect to smile, wave, and make unforgettable memories with some of your favorite characters as they parade through the restaurant in their chef’s best.

Food and Wine Classic: Limited Edition Tickets Available

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has released the menu for the Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition on Friday, October 30.

The resort is also opening up this experience by offering guests
not staying at the resort a way to experience this intimate version of the annual popular event with individual event-only tickets available for two weekends.

Event-only tickets are available for Saturday, October 24, 2020, for $75 per person and Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition on Friday, October 30, 2020 for $110 per person.

Walt Disney World Fall Foodie Guide Halloween 2020

Fall at Walt Disney World brings fun celebrations, festive decorations, and mostly delicious Fall Treats, and the Disney Parks Blog shared the Foodie Guide to Fall Treats that includes something for everyone. Selections include pumpkin spice, apple and cinnamon delights, sweet sips, and fun novelties to name a few.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort Debuts Foodie Staycations

UPDATED: The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has extended its new Sip, Savor and Stay series to a seventh weekend by offering a second Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition taking place on Friday, Oct. 30, 5:30pm – 8:00pm.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotel has created a resort exclusive series of weekly food and drink themed events this fall called Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays: A New Twist on the Food & Wine Classic Experience.

Starting September 19^th, every Saturday evening from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm through October 24, a different culinary experience will take place exclusively for guests staying on the new Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays overnight package.

Each themed event will feature an intimate atmosphere with a limited capacity implemented with the latest in responsible food delivery safety measures and social distancing procedures to create an entertaining, unforgettable, mouthwatering experience.

Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays Details

The Sip, Savor and Stay Saturday events are created by the resort’s award-winning food and beverage team and are inspired by elements of the popular Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic elements like the Champagne Lounge, barbecue favorites, and Oktoberfest.

The Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays weekend event lineup is as follows:

September 19: Bubbles Lounge

A lounge experience showcasing the finest in sparkling beverages with perfectly paired small bites to complete the experience. Taste the base varietals of traditional Champagne along with various sparkling wine styles from around the world.

September 26: Beer Garden

A celebration of hops with a variety of ales, lagers, and pilsners served alongside pub favorites.

October 3: Italian Wines & Bites

A delicious trip for guests’ taste buds across the Atlantic showcasing top Italian wines varietals from across the country’s famed regions from Sicily to Tuscany to Piedmont.

October 10: Smokin’ D’s Bourbon, Beer, & BBQ

A selection of BBQ favorites handcrafted by the resort’s executive chef Dan Herman along with the best in bourbon and beer samplings. Smokin’ D’s menu items are annual favorites at Food & Wine Classic and only offered at the resort select times each year.

October 17: Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition (5:30-8:00pm)

A new Food & Wine Classic experience, this event features fan favorites from the well-known Swan & Dolphin Food & Wine Classic in a more intimate setting.

October 24: Oktoberfest Biergarten

An Oktoberfest party with German-themed music and tastings alongside a full selection of brews.

A one-night Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays package offers guests a chance to celebrate the culinary arts all weekend long.

In addition to exclusive access to the Saturday evening event, guests can enjoy a different specialty themed pop-up food truck each Saturday by the resort pool (available to all resort guests and not included in the package), as well as convenient, walkable access to the Taste of Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, just 1,000-steps away.

Tickets are available exclusively as a resort package. Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays one-night packages start at $295 and include access for two adults. The October 17 Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition experience, which will feature extended hours and expanded offerings, will start at $395 for a one-night package. Events are limited to those 21 and older.

Safety

All Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays events will be indoors and limited to 100 participants, except for the Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition experience which will be limited to 200 participants in a larger space.

Among the protocols that will be implemented for each event are:

Temperature check at the entrance for all attendees,
Plexiglass walls for all food service,
All cast members wearing PPE,
Each group will receive their own socially distanced reserved table,
Touchless menus, and
Clearly marked social distancing signage.

Celebrate National Rum Day at Plancha

National Rum Day is being celebrated Sunday, August 16th, and Plancha at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando will be featuring the Loco Coco Mojito from 11 am to 4 pm for $10 (specially priced).

For guests wanting to celebrate National Rum Day before then, the best deal is to enjoy a Signature Mojito at Plancha Happy Hour, available Tuesday through Saturday from 3 pm to 6 pm!

Happy Hour includes $5 Draft Beer, $5 off select Wines by the Glass, and $7 Signature Margaritas & Mojitos along with select $8 Appetizers.

Self-parking is available at Plancha, and in addition to physically distanced seating in the air-conditioned restaurant, there is also seating on the beautiful lakeside terrace.

A Taste of Epcot to Debut at the Park

A Taste of Epcot International Food and Wine Festival 2020

One of the best times of year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort is the annual EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, and Imagineers have cooked up a creative and modified festival experience that will be the longest festival yet – A Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!

This new take on the foodie festival will debut July 15 and continue through the fall, offering over 20 signature global marketplaces like Hawaii, Hops & Barley, and Islands of the Caribbean, spaced out around the park.

The Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival combines the floral fun of Flower & Garden with the global goodies of the annual Food & Wine Festival.

If you didn’t get to see the park’s newest topiary, Remy, in the France pavilion, or to purchase any Flower & Garden merchandise, this is your chance!

For scavenger hunt fans, Remy’s Ratatouille Hide and Squeak scavenger hunt returns to take guests on an adventure to find their favorite ’Tiny Chef’.

While we don’t have information about the Food & Wine merchandise yet, we are sure to share the information as the products join the fun later on after the festival begins.

While popular musical acts during the “Eat to the Beat Concert Series” often pack the house, they will not be a part of the Take of Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in an effort to accommodate proper physical distancing.

However, there will be plenty of music to enjoy at America Gardens Theatre with local EPCOT entertainment such as Mariachi Cobre, the JAMMitors and more.

It’s going to be awesome to see these fan favorites perform throughout the day, giving audiences more options to enjoy them.

City Works Announces Reopening

City Works Eatery & Pour House at Disney Springs announced it will reopen Wednesday, June 10.

City Works is located next door to the NBA Experience and is Disney Springs’ premier sports restaurant and bar with its high-definition TVs; 90 local, regional, and global craft beers on tap; and a menu offering brilliant twists on American classics.

With a video wall that features a 168-inch, high-definition video screen complemented by four 110-inch and 12 65-inch screens, City Works is the perfect place to watch sports as professional leagues begin to announce their returns.

City Works Queso Dip - Reopening June 10 — Queso Dip

To celebrate its reopening, City Works is “gettin’ cheesy” with new menu items as part of its limited menu featuring:

Queso Dip that offers hot chorizo and pepper jack cheese to give it a subtle kick.
Rigatoni with goat cheese to make it creamy and delicious. Gluten-free pasta is also available.
Smoked Cheddar Mac is an adult version of classic mac and cheese, enhanced with bacon lardons and smoked cheddar cheese.
Their Tex Mex Mac is topped with crispy tortilla strips, providing a crunch to balance the creaminess of the dish.

City Works Rigatoni - Reopening June 2020 — City Works Rigatoni

In addition to the new menu items, City Works is constructing a new canopy over its outdoor dining area that will soon be available for guests who prefer dining outside.

City Works offers 30-40% of its draft beer taps dedicated to local breweries and eight wines on draft. Guests can enjoy Happy Hour specials, including $2 off well drinks, local craft beers, glasses of wine, and $7 bar bites Monday through Thursday 3-6 p.m.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Rock and Roll Brunch will return on weekends soon.

City Works will implement a number of safety measures upon reopening. This includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all team members and increased cleaning protocols and precautions, including scheduled sanitizing of all shared surfaces evey 30 minutes, required hand washing every 20-30 minutes and seating following social distancing guidelines. City Works has created a Shift Safety Manager position to ensure these protocols are being followed. Hand sanitizer stations also will be located throughout the restaurant for guests.

Palo Chocolate Soufflé at Home

At Palo, Disney Cruise Line’s signature restaurant named after the colorful poles that line the canals of Venice, dining is taken to a new level that will have you believing in culinary magic.

While the menu features some amazing modern Italian dishes, you absolutely cannot pass on ordering Palo’s iconic chocolate soufflé, prepared fresh-to-order, and served piping hot with luscious vanilla bean and chocolate sauces.

I am really excited to share with you how to make this dessert that is sure to light up any evening.

Palo Chocolate Soufflé (Serves 6)

Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter, plus more for greasing the soufflé cups
6 tablespoons sugar, plus more for dusting the soufflé cups
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons Dutch-processed cocoa
2 ounces (2/3 cup) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, melted
4 eggs, separated
Vanilla Sauce (recipe follows)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Set a full kettle of water on to boil.
Butter six 4-ounce soufflé cups and coat with sugar; set aside.
Bring the milk to a boil in a small saucepan. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cocoa to the butter and beat with a whisk to a smooth, paste-like consistency. Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute.
Slowly add the hot milk, whisking until smooth, then blend in melted chocolate. Let cool for 5 minutes, then stir in egg yolks.
Beat egg whites in a separate bowl until frothy. Slowly add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff, glossy peaks form. Stir a heaping spoonful of egg whites into the chocolate, then fold in the remaining whites just until combined.
Pour the batter into prepared soufflé cups. Place cups in a large baking dish and add enough boiling water to reach halfway the sides of the soufflé cups.
Bake for 20 minutes. Serve immediately, with warm vanilla sauce.

Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups heavy cream
1/4 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
3 tablespoons sugar
2 small egg yolks

Directions

Bring cream and vanilla bean to a low boil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Combine sugar and egg yolks.
Add 2 spoonfuls of boiling cream to egg mixture and stir well, then pour back into the remaining cream and continue to cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 3 to 4 minutes.
