Christmas at the Gaylord Palms is underway, and it is one of our favorite places to go to celebrate the Holiday Season!

With so many new and enhanced things to experience during Christmas at the Gaylord Palms, I wanted to share some of my favorite things to do during your visit!

1. ICE! featuring ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

You can’t talk about Christmas at Gaylord Palms without talking about ICE! , and this year ICE! featuring ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas is this year’s main attraction.

Venture inside the nine degree wonderland to experience the classic poem come to life in two million pounds of hand-carved, life-size ice sculptures.

ICE! presented by Pepsi also features four slippery ice slides, a live carving zone in which guests can witness a master carver at work, and On the Blocks ICE! Bar, the exclusive adult-only bar inside of ICE!

2. Alpine Rush Snow Tubing

While ICE! is nice, you have to give Alpine Rush Snow Tubing a go!

Grab a tube and spped down an 18’ 8-lane giant snow hill created with real Florida snow.

This year on Friday and Saturday evenings, the lights go down and the fun turns up as Cosmic Tubing comes to life. Guests tubing during this time enjoy high spirited holiday music accompanied by flashing LED lights.

3. The Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt

If you feel adventurous, you can take on The Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt around the resort!

The Elf on the Shelf® scout elves need your help! Ten of Santa’s special scout elf helpers have landed at Gaylord Palms, but they won’t be able to fly to the North Pole until they have a name.

To find the scout elves you will need your keen eyesight, best puzzle solvers, and huge sense of fun to help reveal the elves’ names so they can report back to Santa. All families that help the scout elves fulfill their special Christmas mission will receive a prize.

4. Build-A-Bear Workshop Pop Up Shop

A really fun addition to the Alpine Village this year is the Build-A-Bear Workshop pop-up shop!

This interactive destination is a place where you can create your very own personalized furry friends that features the same memorable experiences offered at other Build-A-Bear Workshop stores throughout the country.

The Build-A-Bear Workshop pop-up shop has a large assortment of animals and characters, including faces featured in some of the season’s most popular movies.

While you are there, don’t forget to pick up an exclusive, furry friend-sized “Christmas at GaylordPalms” t-shirt to commemorate your visit.

5. Cirque Dreams UnWrapped

While ICE! was amazing, you HAVE to see Cirque Dreams UnWrapped at the Gaylord Palms!

Broadway director and Cirque Dreams founder Neil Goldberg is bringing the famed entertainment brand to Orlando for the first time in the company’s 22 years with this exclusive show.

This family friendly show features an array of seasonal characters brought to life in a dreamscape of imaginative costumes and creativity, while stunning feats of showmanship are unwrapped, performed on stage and in the air.

The performance is a 25-minute Christmas dream presented with the Broadway style and inventive theatrics for which Cirque Dreams is renowned, and with so many talented performers the show will change from night to night.

New this year to Christmas at Gaylord Palms is a breakfast hosted by the mother of the North Pole herself, Mrs. Claus.

Mrs. Claus has brought some of her top elves this character breakfast to get you in the holiday spirit, and who knows she may even put in a good word with the big guy himself!

Before you eat, make sure you visit with Mrs. Claus! It is a more intimate setting that is perfect for little ones who may be a little shy.

We really enjoyed our Breakfast with Mrs. Claus that features a buffet full of delicious options sure to please anyone in your family.

After you’ve decorated to your heart’s content, make your way to meet Nutmeg the gingerbread man for a heartwarming hug you can capture with your own camera.

10. Amazing Holiday Decor

One of my favorite things to during Christmas at Gaylord Palms is to wander through the atrium’s lush gardens (over 500,000 plants) sprinkled with poinsettias, grand holiday displays, and watch as the famous 54-foot-tall majestic Christmas tree comes to life every night during the famous tree lighting ceremony.

The famous Orlando Christmas tree lighting ceremony, complete with Christmas carolers, lights, and of course, the star of the show, our massive 54-foot-tall Majestic Christmas Tree! It towers over the St. Augustine atrium waiting for the special moment to light up and cast holiday cheer to the guests on hand to witness it in all its glory.

WWE Awards $180,000 in Scholarships to Full Sail University Students

WWE (NYSE: WWE) is pleased to announce it has awarded four $10,000 scholarships to the following Full Sail University students:

Joanne Castillo, a Recording Arts student from San Jose, CA.
Travis Daniels, a Film student from Buford, GA.
Brandon Mojica, a Sports Marketing & Media student from Bronx, NY.
Kas Soloman, a Recording Arts student from Gahanna, OH.

WWE has now awarded 18 scholarships to Full Sail University students, for a total of $180,000 since WWE’s partnership with Full Sail began in May, 2012. These scholarships are applied toward the recipient’s areas of study within the university.

Immersive Live-Action Game Experience – Cosmic Quest – Launches at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex February 2016

Coming in 2016, Cosmic Quest “trainees” will be challenged with immersive NASA inspired adventures, including the Asteroid Capture Adventure, which immerses trainees in “outer space” as they redirect an asteroid.

Future generations of space explorers will be engaged and inspired like never before as Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex introduces a new, interactive, live-action game experience – Cosmic Quest – in February 2016. Cosmic Quest promises to immerse young guests, known as “trainees,” in a variety of STEM-based (science, technology, engineering and math) space adventures while educating them about NASA’s current and future space science and exploration endeavors.

“At Cosmic Quest, kids can explore a world of STEM and space-related careers through fun and educational interactive adventures that are based on real NASA endeavors,” said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. “We are proud to offer this new live-action game experience to engage young people’s imaginations and get them excited about their role in future of space exploration.”

Cosmic Quest will offer a host of immersive NASA-inspired adventures incorporated into existing visitor complex attractions:

In NASA’s Next Rocket Launch Adventure, located at the Apollo/Saturn V Center, “trainees” assemble their launch team from a pool of NASA’s best, including environmental engineers, biologists, computers scientists and other experts, each of whom will be instrumental in overcoming challenges leading up to the launch. As the rocket lifts off the pad, the trainee – safe in mission control – is immersed in the sensations of launch, including powerful vibrations and steam.
At Mars Colony Adventures, located at Journey To Mars: Explorers Wanted, trainees may participate in two exciting missions: building a research exploration base or building a permanent colony, both of which must be able to protect astronauts and colonists from poisonous dust and radiation on the Red Planet and keep them physically and mentally fit. During the adventures, trainees learn about the complications of living on the surface of Mars and the components needed to sustain human life. Trainees see their colony or base displayed as a 3D holograph while using a high-definition touch screen to assemble all the necessary parts.
Asteroid Capture Adventure, located within the IMAX^® Theater, calls for trainees to command a robotic spacecraft and overcome challenges in deep space to capture and redirect an asteroid. This deep-space adventure takes place in front of a massive half-dome screen, which completely immerses trainees in “outer space” as they redirect the asteroid into the orbit of Earth’s moon.
Finally, the International Space Station Adventure, located within Space Shuttle Atlantis^SM, challenges Cosmic Quest trainees to gather items and information to complete various experiments on the International Space Station (ISS): Humans in Space, Plant Systems in Space, Materials in Space and Closed Loop Systems. Trainees perform life-science experiments and discover what astronauts are doing on the ISS right now. Using large, interactive touch screens, they solve challenges such as countering the negative effects of microgravity on the human body and creating an efficient greenhouse to grow vegetables using aeroponics. While performing the experiments, trainees find out how space research not only will prepare humans for life on Mars, but also how it improves medicine, farming and technology here on Earth.

Robonaut, a replica of NASA’s real R2 robot currently working aboard the ISS, serves as a virtual narrator and guide as Cosmic Quest trainees use their “astronaut badges” as activation devices to interact with digital progression points and touch screens located throughout each of the exhibit areas.

Launching at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in February 2016, Cosmic Quest will be offered for $24.95, in addition to the price of daily admission. All adventures are included in the price; the completion of one adventure is not dependent on other adventures.

Colortopia Presented By Glidden Is Now Open At Epcot

New interactive exhibit creates colorful experiences for Guests of all ages

Colortopia Presented by Glidden is a new and colorful experience opened at Epcot, and it is such a great addition to Innoventions East!

Colortopia is an interactive, educational experience that is full of memories, inspiration, and fun.

To experience the Colortopia exhibit, the Glidden brand has created three unique walk-through areas that bring to life color theory, the psychology of color and the perception of color, all while engaging Guests in fun and surprising hands-on activities.

The three areas of the exhibit include:

The Power of Color – After you enter this specially designed standing theater, you find yourself engulfed in color that is overwhelming in the best way possible to explore the psychology of color. It really gets you thinking of the immediate response and memories that color holds.

The Color Lab – There are two activities located inside The Color Lab area that are incredibly interactive and competitive.

In Color Mix ‘n Match, you use slides to mix red, green and blue to create bold new colors. I played this game several times through, because it was incredibly interesting to learn how color is mixed and tons of competitive fun. I don’t mean to brag…but I am a Honolulu Color Guru!

Spinning Spectrums is the second interactive area in The Color Lab that shows the persistence of vision through painted spinning discs. Before pressing the buttons you have to guess what color their eyes will perceive once the multi-colored discs start to spin quickly, which is trickier than you may think!

Color Our World – Guests can play with fun color shadows while they wait to receive a magic paint brush, which they can use in the studio to bring the world around them to life with their personal color choices.

Justin Bieber Brings His Purpose Tour to Orlando’s Amway Center

With back-to-back worldwide smash hit singles and anticipation for his new studio album, “Purpose,” hitting an all-time high, global superstar Justin Bieber has announced his massive Purpose World Tour beginning March 9, 2016 in Seattle. Bieber brings his Purpose World Tour to Orlando’s Amway Center on Thursday, June 30, 2016. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 10 a.m.

Exclusive Viewing Options Offer a ‘Front Row Seat’ for the Launch

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex guests can experience the stunning sights and powerful sounds of an evening Atlas V rocket launch Thursday, Dec. 3 at 5:55 p.m. ET, with two exclusive launch viewing locations from which to choose.

The United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will carry the second Cygnus cargo mission, OA-4, to the International Space Station (ISS) in support of NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services program. This mission is utilizing the extended Cygnus Pressurized Cargo Module, transporting approximately 7,700 pounds of supplies to the ISS.

The visitor complex will offer launch viewing from the Apollo/Saturn V Center located within the secured areas of Kennedy Space Center, as well as a viewing area at the main visitor complex.

Both locations offer thrilling viewing experiences:

The Apollo/Saturn V Center is located within Kennedy Space Center, and the viewing area features an open lawn and bleacher section overlooking the scenic Banana River. The area includes live launch commentary, food and retail available for purchase, and indoor restroom facilities. Guests may purchase launch transportation tickets to the Apollo/Saturn V Center for $20 plus tax in addition to admission.

Located at the main visitor complex, viewing adjacent to Space Shuttle Atlantis^SM is included in daily admission. The viewing area offers guests a view of the rocket once it clears the tree line. Bleacher seating and live launch commentary are provided.

Buses will transport guests directly to the Apollo/Saturn V Center from 3 to 5 p.m.

Busch Gardens Tampa Releases New Cobra’s Curse Details

Family Spin Coaster Opens 2016; More Details Revealed To Residents and Industry Fans

Busch Gardens Tampa provided additional details about the latest thrill ride project coming in 2016, including a detailed model revealed at the International Amusement Parks and Attractions show in Orlando. Cobra’s Curse will be the only ride of its kind in the world: a family roller coaster with freely spinning ride vehicles and a 70-foot vertical lift.

As a special incentive for Florida residents, the new details were revealed as the park is promoting a special offer for advance purchases of the 2016 Fun Card. For the price of a single-day admission, guests who purchase their 2016 Fun Card now also will receive the rest of 2015 free.

“Busch Gardens Tampa is Florida’s thrill ride leader,” said Brian Morrow, Busch Gardens’ attraction creative designer. “And, with Cobra’s Curse, we’re expanding the family thrill ride offerings. The multi-directional spins on Cobra’s Curse will provide excitement and fun for guests of all ages.”

A unique move on Cobra’s Curse is the “outward-banked turn” that puts riders perilously close to the jaws of the monstrous, 80-foot-tall statue of the snake king Venymyss.

Instead of a gradual lift hill, more typical of a traditional coaster, each train is instead lifted vertically, to a height of 70 feet, and the top of the ancient temple.

During the three-and-a-half-minute ride, the coaster trains speed along at 40 mph, spinning backward, forward and then freely.

Guests will experience a new spin with each ride. Each train spins randomly, with frequency and direction determined by the rider weight distribution.

The ride’s setting is a modern day dig site in Egypt, where archeologists have uncovered the legendary temple of the snake king, Venymyss. The ride’s air-conditioned queue line provides a welcome break from the Egyptian heat.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place on select nights from now until December 18^th, and this separate ticketed event is a great way to kick off your Holiday Season!

As with any Special Event at Walt Disney World planning is key to making your most of your time, and with so many exclusive entertainment, character, shopping, or food offerings prioritizing your ‘Must Do’s’ is as important as ever!

So here are 10 things to keep in mind when you are creating your game-plan for attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

1. While the event begins at 7 pm, you can gain access to the Magic Kingdom at 4 pm and if you are in the park before the event you can get wristbands inside the park in Tomorrowland and Adventureland.

2. FastPass+ is not offered during the Party, so arriving early can help you knock out some attractions as the crowds will begin thinning as the party begins.

I suggest catching a ride on the Jingle Cruise as soon as you arrive, because the lighting is better for viewing all the festive additions to the attraction.

3. During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party you can find several locations around the park offering Hot Chocolate and Sugar Cookies.

If you have allergies or dietary restrictions they offer apple juice, apple slices, grapes, and gluten free cookies at the same locations.

4. If you don’t arrive to the Party early, don’t fret that you’ve missed the Castle Lighting. ‘A Frozen Holiday Wish’ is performed at BOTH 6:15 pm and 8:00 pm.

5. The Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade steps off from Frontierland twice a night during the Party, and really there is no bad spot to watch from.

I will say that it is a slower moving parade, so if you are on Main Street you will have quite a wait for the parade to reach you.

6. This year I switched up my Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party game plan, and I really enjoyed it!

Now hear me out on this before you completely judge me…

As soon as the 6:15 pm ‘A Frozen Holiday Wish’ was over, I went on the hunt for a spot to sit in front of the castle.

While we did invest quite a chunk of our night to sitting (Thank you Heads Up for being a great app to have on your phone for the kids) from our spot we saw Celebrate the Season, A Frozen Holiday Wish, Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, Celebrate the Magic, and Holiday Wishes – Celebrate the Spirit of the Season without moving with Cinderella Castle as our backdrop.

However, since the girls were rested we were able to stay the rest of the party and enjoyed shorter waits for attractions and characters as the night went on.

Believe me when I say that this plan isn’t for everyone, and you need to make sure that everyone in your group is completely on board.

We were really lucky to have made friends with a wonderful family around us from Louisiana, so we were able to go on Hot Chocolate and Sugar Cookie runs together for the gang during the longer breaks.

7. The Exclusive Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card this year is adorable as it features Olaf and the Snowgies!

I suggest grabbing your card early, not because they will run out but because you might forget after a long night of merriment!

8. I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but the Party Exclusive merchandise is great!

I HAD to have this ornament!!!

9. New this year is performances by VoicePlay. Voice play is an acclaimed acapella group who you may know from ‘The Sing-Off’, and they take to the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland between performances of ‘A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas’.

10. ‘Holiday Wishes – Celebrate the Spirit of the Season’ is a WONDERFUL fireworks show that includes perimeter launches, and while watching facing Cinderella Castle is the way that most people go don’t be afraid to watch from New Fantasyland. It is gorgeous!

Aaron Carter came to fame very early in life at the age of seven and released his first self-titled debut album at the age of 10. He was one the biggest teenage heart throbs in the late 1990’s and in the early 2000’s. Carter’s second album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) put him on the map, selling 1.5 million copies. He is set to release new music in early 2016. In addition, Carter has recently starred in the Broadway classic Fantasticks, and competed on Dancing with the Stars.

BEFORE YOU EXIT (BYE)

This Orlando-based band consists of three brothers: Connor, 21 (vocals/guitar); Riley, 19, (lead vocals); and Toby, 17, (vocals, guitar). They caught the attention of the legendary music manager Johnny Wright, who signed the group. Wright also manages Justin Timberlake and many others. BYE was named the winners of the Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star campaign, and performed at the 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. BYE has had three hit singles on the Radio Disney charts.

ROB BASE

Part of the hip hop duo with DJ E-Z Rock, Rob Base is most famous for his hit single It Takes two. This song was a Top 40 hit and became platinum, along with their album. They were also known for being pioneers of the crossover success that rap music would have in the popular music mainstream.

JOEY FATONE (HOST)

Best known as a member of the legendary boyband N’SYNC, Joey Fatone’s current hosting gigs include the announcer on Family Feud; Food Network’s Rewrapped; and Live Well Network’s My Family Recipe Rocks. Joey is also guest host of the live version of The Price is Right in Las Vegas.
