A Scaredy Cat Visits Legends: A Haunting at Old Town

Legends: A Haunting at Old Town

A Scaredy Cat Visits Legends: A Haunting at Old Town

Hi! My name is Shelley and I am a Scaredy Cat. I don’t like horror movies, and the thought of visiting a Haunted Attraction made me break out in hives until earlier this year.

When I was invited to experience Legends: A Haunting at Old TownI decided that it was finally time to face my fears for the first time!

Scaredy Cat Visits Legends: A Haunting at Old Town Kissimmee

Legends: A Haunting at Old Town is a year-round Haunted Attraction located at  in Kissimmee that combines live actors, detailed sets, and intense special effects to create an atmosphere of fear and fun.

Ashdown and Son’s Undertakers have been offering their funeral services to the people of Old Town since 1889, and unfortunately the living aren’t good for business and sometimes they have to help find new business in unconventional ways.

Guests to the Ashdown and Son’s Undertakers visit in small groups for an incredibly personal tour and intimate exploration of the various levels (and inhabitants) of the building.

“It seems the dead won’t stay dead and those brave enough to venture into the haunted funeral parlor of the Ashdown’s might find themselves trapped between the wickedness of the living and the wrath of the dead.”

Scaredy Cat Visits Legends- A Haunting at Old Town Kissimmee Aldus

I had an absolute blast facing my fears at Legends: A Haunting at Old Town, and now I am ready to start testing my limits further!

Over the years several friends have given me some great advice about making the most of my Haunted Attraction Experience, and here are the ones that worked the best for me!

Tips for Scaredy Cats experiencing a Haunted Attractions from a Scaredy Cat:

1. Don’t go alone – Make sure that you visit a haunted attraction with a group of people that you can trust as you will be in a situation where you won’t be incredibly comfortable at first.

2. Be Prepared – Before you visit your Haunted Attraction, make sure that you visit their site so you have an idea of what you will come face-to-face with and also you’ll find tips to make your experience more enjoyable.

3. Breathe – When you go into a room that really gives you the ‘heebee jeebees’, take an extra moment to take a breath and remind yourself that you are okay and in control.

4. Try to stay calm – Now this seems terribly counterintuitive, but the scream actors are going to go after those that will garner the biggest payoff…so don’t be that guy!

5. So I can’t scream? – NO! Scream, jump, and panic! Just try to make sure you find some way to calm yourself when you feel like you are outside of your comfort zone. When I had moments where I felt out of control, I took a moment and rubbed my hands together to take myself out of the intensity of the moment.

6. Have fun! – Remember you are taking part of this haunted attraction to have fun and bond with your friends.

If you are curious as to if you can handle Haunted Attractions, Legends: A Haunting at Old Town is a great environment to test your limits!

Legends: A Haunting at Old Town is year round Thursday – Sunday, and since the group sizes are so small reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (407) 883-0859. You can find great information, special offers, and more by visiting their website.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Orlando Has Fertility Statues On Display

Oh Baby! Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Orlando Now Has
Two Sets of Fertility Statues on Display

Ripley’s invites would-be parents to put the statues to the test – for free!

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! now has two sets of fertility statues on display to meet the demand from would-be parents. “Where are the statues?” and “How can I visit them?” are two of the most common questions to Ripley’s corporate headquarters.

Ripley’s original pair of Legendary African Fertility Statues is now on display at the company’s Baltimore Odditorium. This pair has quite a track record, having made three trips around the world and visits to every Ripley’s Odditorium. It all started when the statues, hand-carved by the Baule tribe from Africa’s Ivory Coast, arrived at Ripley’s corporate offices in 1993. Within months, 13 women, including staffers and office visitors, were pregnant. Their legend grew as they went on public display and success stories poured in. More than 2,000 women credit touching these statues with helping them get pregnant.

Now, Ripley’s has a second set of fertility statues from the same tribe and wants to put them to the test. This pair, recently found in Ripley’s inventory, is now on display at Orlando Odditorium.
“We’re inviting people to try out this new set of statues and let us know if they worked for them,” said Joe Kasinski, Ripley’s Orlando general manager. “We want to put them to the test and compare them to the original pair.”

Ripley’s is encouraging guests who touch the statues to share their stories by emailing TouchTest@Ripleys.com or using #TouchTest on social media.

Rachel credits Ripley’s Legendary Fertility Statues with helping her get pregnant

Ripley’s gathered hundreds of success stories during the Legendary Fertility Statues previous tours, like this one from Rachel T. of New Jersey. She had tried getting pregnant for three years with no luck, and fertility specialists told her there was no way she could conceive on her own. She made a special trip to Ripey’s Odditorium in Wisconsin Dells, where the Legendary Fertility Statues were at the time. A few weeks later she was pregnant.

Jenna G. has similar story. She drove from Pennsylvania to Ripley’s Atlantic City Odditorium to touch the statues after several months of unsuccessful fertility treatments. Three weeks later, she found out she was pregnant.

Hundreds of women have shared similar stories with Ripley’s.

Both sets of Ripley’s fertility statues can be seen – and touched – for FREE.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Celebrates World Sword Swallower’s Day

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Orlando Hosts Free Sword Swallowing Demos on

World Sword Swallower’s Day

February 28 event highlights the deadly, ancient art of sword swallowing
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! will once again pay tribute to the ancient art of sword swallowing by holding free sword swallowing performances as part of World Sword Swallower’s Day on Saturday, February 28.
Ripley’s will showcase sword swallowers from all over the world at its Odditoriums in New York City, Hollywood, San Francisco, Baltimore, Gatlinburg, Myrtle Beach, Branson, Atlantic City, Orlando, St. Augustine, Panama City Beach, Key West and Grand Prairie.
In Orlando, attendees will see three amazing performers:

-Dan Meyer, World Sword Swallower’s Day founder and America’s Got Talent finalist, will attempt several death-defying feats. Meyer has swallowed as many as 21 swords – at one time
-Franz Huber, who is coming all the way from Germany to participate
-Haley Hall, who at just 16 years old may be the youngest sword swallower in the world!

The show will start at 1:30 pm with an official swallow at 2:28:15 to coincide with the2/28/15 date. Ripley’s Orlando Odditorium is located at 8201 International Drive. The sword swallowing performances will be FREE, but admission is required to tour the Odditorium.

Dan Meyer will lead a trio of
sword swallowers performing
at Ripley’s Orlando
This will be the 8th annual World Sword Swallower’s Day celebration, founded by the Sword Swallowers Association International (SSAI) and co-sponsored by Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
“We established World Sword Swallower’s Day to recognize the handful of people in the world who can do this and honor this art that is more than 4,000 years old,” said Dan Meyer, president of the SSAI.
The event also raises awareness of the contributions sword swallowers have made to the fields of medicine and science and raises money for esophageal cancer research.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! has long chronicled the death-defying achievements of sword swallowers. Sword swallowers were a prominently featured at the very first Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1933.
People who want to try their hand at sword swallowing – and not risk their lives – can use the Ripley iSword app to swallow a virtual sword and freak out their friends. All it takes is nerves of steel and lightning-fast reflexes. The app is available at the App Store for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch iOS 5 or later.

SEA LIFE Orlando Search for Young Environmentalists Panel

World’s largest aquarium chain invites Florida children passionate about marine life to serve on panel

SEA LIFE Orlando, the brand new immersive aquarium experience opening at I-Drive 360 in spring 2015, has announced a contest to select five children to serve on its Young Environmentalists Panel. Each of the panelists, between the ages of 7-12, will serve as ambassadors to help educate the community about SEA LIFE, and its local and global conservation efforts.

SEA LIFE Orlando is asking children in Florida, between the ages of 7-12, who are passionate about marine life and conservation, to submit an entry by writing a 150-word essay or 30-second video on ways they protect the environment.

Finalists will have the chance to participate in preview events leading up to grand opening; and participate in special events throughout the year where they will help communicate SEA LIFE’s conservation messages and get involved with activities to help protect the environment.

“We are excited to launch our Young Environmentalists Panel and begin engaging with young marine life enthusiasts in our community,” said Steve Blair, displays curator for SEA LIFE Orlando. “From protecting our oceans to helping with animal conservation, our young panelists will not only promote our conservation outreach, but also help to inspire and educate others throughout the State of Florida.”

To enter, or to learn more about the Young Environmentalists Panel, go to Sea Life Orlando’s site, and download the Parent/Guardian Release Form to submit along with your child’s essay or video. All entries must be submitted via email to andrea.alava@merlinentertainments.biz. The deadline for entries is January 15, 2015.
