Barista Bootcamp

For those who’ve ever wanted to become the consummate at-home coffee barista, Lickety Split at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort is presenting the perfect chance. Guests can attend a Barista Bootcamp, this December, learning how to master single drip coffee, cold brew coffee, coffee cocktails, and latte art.

The Barista Bootcamp is offered as part of Four Seasons Entertain U(niversity), a series of unique classes offered between now and December 31, 2015 taught by the entertaining, culinary and beverage masterminds at Four Seasons properties across the globe.

Lickety Split is an innovator among Central Florida coffee shop offerings, featuring techniques and equipment that are unique to Orlando.  Lickety Split features Caffe Umbria coffee, a third generation Italian coffee roaster based out of Seattle, Washington, and offers six different blends and four different brew styles, enabling baristas to customise the coffee experience.

The two-hour Barista Bootcamp at Lickety Split will give the coffee lover the necessary skills to move beyond creating a basic “cup of joe” to creating an extraordinary, signature cup of coffee rich in flavour and with an artful presentation. Baristas-in-training will learn from coffee connoisseur Allison Burkard, Manager of Lickety Split, who honed her coffee making skills in Seattle, Washington at the headquarters for Caffe Umbria coffee roasting company.

Burkard will welcome guests by first teaching them how to make the signature cold brew coffee Lickety Split is known for. Next, she will discuss how to make the perfect single drip coffee. Burkard will also demonstrate how to add some holiday cheer to coffee by creating two different coffee cocktails. In addition, Burkard will provide instruction on latte art – including whimsical designs from Christmas trees to snowmen, perfect for the festive season. Guests will also learn about the art of the pour, and how to serve designer coffees with fun accents such as peppermint swizzle sticks and chocolate spoons, which can be easily made at home and lend a festive touch and holiday flavour to one’s coffee. Each guest will depart with a fun takeaway bag filled with decadent delights from Lickety Split.

Classes, offered at USD 75 per person, will be offered on December 5, December 12, December 19 and December 26, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in Lickety Split. Reservations are required and space is limited; for reservations, call (407) 313-6161.

The Fun In the Sun package extends a daily USD 50.00 resort credit with a four-night minimum stay, available for use on Tranquilo Golf Club; at The Spa or Salon; shopping in the resort’s designer boutiques; for a golf, tennis or fitness lesson; poolside cabana rental, and more.  The resort credit enables guests to maximize their on-property enjoyment by experiencing a variety of resort activities during their stay.

On Property Recreational Pursuits
A highlight of Four Seasons Resort Orlando is the five-acre (two hectare) “Explorer Island” water park, including a winding lazy river complete with a rapids section, two water slides, an interactive splash zone with water cannons, and much more.  Family fun abounds, with activities including table tennis, bocce ball, beach volleyball, a rock climbing wall, and more all found at Explorer Island.   “The Hideout” at Explorer Island is a separate freestanding building offering the latest gaming systems, billiards and more.  Additionally, “The Mansion” at Explorer Island is home to the Kids For All Seasons program, providing a complimentary kids camp for children ages 4 to 12 on a daily basis during the hours of 10 am to 6pm—a one- of- a-kind offering in central Florida.

While children are having a blast at Kids For All Seasons, moms and dads can enjoy relaxation at the 18-treatment room Spa, or unwind in the paradise of The Oasis adult pool, for ages 21 and up, featuring cabanas and poolside cocktail service.  In addition, golfers will love the 18-hole Tranquilo Golf Club, and tennis aficionados will enjoy the three Har-Tru tennis courts and a variety of clinics, matches and more offered in partnership with Peter Burwash International.  A spacious lakeside fitness center is available 24-hours a day, with fitness classes ranging from yoga to cardio offered on a weekly basis.

Spring Break Activities
During the spring break period, between March 20, 2015 to April 12, 2015, guests will enjoy added resort activities on a complimentary basis, offering fun for all ages.   Kids For All Seasons will offer fun water slide races, hula hooping contests, lazy river boat races, family feud games, Nintendo Wii dance parties, balloon artistry, face painting, S’mores making, pizza making with the Chef, and more.   For adults, mixology classes and cooking classes with the culinary team will be offered in the resort’s custom demonstration kitchen, along with special theme dinners in Plancha.  Fitness classes including yoga, spinning, “power flex” and “yogalates” are also offered throughout the week.

In addition, other activities will be offered for a fee, such as Kids For All Seasons’ special Hide Out Nights Out, where parents can drop off the kids for a few hours to enjoy a romantic dinner. Tranquilo Golf Club will offer daily clinics with Head of Golf Instruction Rod Cook, on topics such as the fundamentals of chipping, how to make more putts, how to control distance with a scoring club, and how to control curvature and trajectory of shots.

Easter at Four Seasons Resort Orlando
For guests staying at the resort over Easter Sunday, on April 5, little ones will enjoy a morning and afternoon Easter Egg Hunt, along with games and photos with the Easter Bunny.  Ravello will offer an Easter buffet from 11 am to 8 pm, for USD 95.00 per adult and USD 45.00 per child.   Additionally, Capa restaurant, typically open exclusively for dinner, will be open on Easter for a special a la carte brunch from 10 am to 2 pm.

This week we got to take a look at the all new Four Seasons Resort Orlando, at Walt Disney World! The resort doesn’t officially open until August 3rd, but everything is looking amazing and ready for opening day!

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando is located within the prestigious Golden Oak Community, you enter through the main gates, although separate gated entrances ensure privacy for the residents from resort guests.

The resort features a Tom-Fazio championship designed golf course, a world-class spa and an ‘explorer island’ for kids and families.

 

 

The first thing I noticed on entering the resort was the amazing chandelier you are greeted with by the stairs, it is supposed to represent fireworks, and as the day changes into night it only becomes even more stunning throwing dancing lights all around! Look closely over the balcony and you will spot a large hidden Mickey!

We headed outside and found a reflections pond right outside which the ducks were currently enjoying! You can see lots of cabanas along the lake that guests can rent out and grill by the lake. One of my favorite areas was a seating area that had a fun water feature that was a rotating clear ball over a fountain, very mesmerizing!

The first pool you come along is an adult only pool, gated off with child proof locks. Its called The Oasis and features under water audio!

The part we were most excited to go see was Explorer Island, that features a family pool, a Splash Zone, a Lazy River, and The Drop.

This whole area is pretty amazing. The Splash Zone features an interactive fountain among ruins, I specifically loved the curtains of water falling from the arches, and at night the fountains light up all different colors. It’s beautiful!

The Lazy River reminds me of something that you would find at the Atlantis Resort!

It’s an 11,008 sq ft lazy river, and even has canons by the splash pad that reach pretty far out.

So watch out fellow tubers passing by, those kids standing by watching you may have hidden intentions! Cant wait to see these in action!

 

The Drop is their 242 foot water slide that’s made of see through fibre glass so you can watch your fall alllllllll the way down!

If you take the stairs up, you can get to The Mansion, that features tables tennis, bocce ball, pool tables, a fireplace, additional seating areas, and an observation deck to check out all the fun below!

 

After seeing the sunset around the pool we headed back inside to eat. We decided to eat at Ravello, a modern Italian restaurant located on the ground floor, and is linked to their bar upstairs.

I loved the lay out and seating in here, but I thought the live action “show Kitchen” was fun as you can watch the chefs prepare your food.

They had a limited menu since the opening isn’t until August 3rd, but it still had some great items on and really gave us an idea of what was to come.

I decided to order the Gnocchi, featuring gorgonzola, parmigano, provolone AND fontina cheeses! So delicious, and they even accommodated me not having the toasting walnuts on top due to my allergy, and ensured they used separate equipment and utensils too.

They had quite a long wine list to go with the menu, offering all of them by the bottle or by the individual glass. We were very tempted by the dessert since they had tiramisu but we were too full from our mains, so we will have to just go back to try those. I did enquire about whether they would be offering a Disney Cast Member discount, but they weren’t sure yet, so if you go make sure you ask about it as they may start to offer one. We loved this restaurant and we will go back once it has opened officially.

I loved getting to see around the Four Seasons Resort Orlando! The Resort is very beautiful, and with florida resident rates, I may have to go back!

On the way out through Golden Oak I spotted a Little Mermaid figurine with Sebastian and Flounder, very cute, see if you can find her too!
