Universal’s Aventura Hotel to bring affordable-chic to life at Universal Orlando Resort in Summer 2018

When it opens in the summer of 2018, guests visiting the new Universal’s Aventura Hotel will arrive at a sleek and stylish space designed to create an affordable-chic experience in the heart of a vibrant and relaxing resort atmosphere for guests at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Universal’s Aventura Hotel, designed with the connected and value-savvy traveler in mind, will become the destination’s sixth hotel and continue the unprecedented growth ongoing at Universal Orlando Resort. The 16-story gleaming glass tower will consist of 600 guest rooms, including 13 kids’ suites. It will bring the total number of on-site hotel rooms at Universal Orlando to 6,200 when combined with the 400-room expansion of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort opening in 2017.

The hotel will feature the destination’s first-ever rooftop bar and grill, where guests will enjoy small plates and craft cocktails while taking in incredible panoramic views of Universal Orlando and the surrounding tropical landscape. Hotel guests can also dine at a modern food hall offering five unique cuisine options in a marketplace setting just off the lobby. Amenities exclusive to guests staying on-site will include Early Park Admission to Universal’s theme parks, complimentary on-site transportation, a relaxing pool with a hot tub, kids’ splash pad area and fire pit, a state-of-the-art fitness center, gift shop and car rental facilities.

Universal’s Aventura Hotel will offer guests yet another value priced option when choosing from the wide range of on-site hotels at Universal Orlando Resort. The new hotel will neighbor Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and will be just steps away from Universal Orlando’s theme parks, including Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Universal’s Volcano Bay – a first-of-its-kind water theme park opening in early summer 2017. Universal CityWalk, the destination’s dining and entertainment complex, will be accessible via walking paths or shuttle service from Universal’s Aventura Hotel.

Away from the energy of the hotel’s public spaces, the guest room experience embraces a serene, modern environment with refreshing, natural colors such as sea blue and rose, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping views of the destination.

Experience the Peanuts gang in iconic scenes such as their holiday play rehearsal, Snoopy’s decorated doghouse and Charlie Brown choosing the perfect Christmas tree. Mrs. Claus’ Holiday Traditions is a story time and sing-along where guests can cozy around the jolliest hostess of all time, delight in the reading of holiday classic stories and sing carols during this 30-minute interactive show. Experiencing SummerFest At The Gaylord Palms

Disclosure: I was hosted by the Gaylord Palms Resort to experience SummerFest, but all opinions are my own.

The Gaylord Palms Resort is known for ICE!, their special event in the winter, but this Summer the resort has been taken over by an invasion of Pirates, Princesses, and fun as SummerFest fills the Resort with exclusive activities from now until August 21, 2016.

During SummerFest you will be introduced to Princess Blackheart and story of a how she became the Ruler of Pirate Kingdom with exclusive events including character breakfasts, resort-wide scavenger hunts, and tons of outdoor and water fun for pirates of all ages.

It is really easy to spend several days in the resort taking part in all the SummerFest Activities!

Princess Priscilla’s Coronation Character Breakfast

Join Captain Blackheart the Pirate King crew alongside his daughter, Princess Priscilla, infamous Captain Pat Beeks, and his singing cabin boy Jonny Stranger at MOOR every morning from 8 am – 11 am. This breakfast buffet has an ideal setting and delicious food including a waffle bar. Can we take a moment to talk about how epic Zoe’s waffle was???

Shiver me Timbers, it’s Morning Cartoons!

Start your morning off right with classic cartoons at the Cypress Springs Pool from 9 – 10 am. There is nothing like watching Batman cartoons in a pool on a beautiful summer morning!

The SoBe Splash Party

At Cypress Springs Pool from noon until 4 pm (weather permitting) Captain Blackheart leads pool games, dance pARRRties, and you will do as he says or you will walk the plank. This was one of Zoe’s favorite parts of the weekend, and she HAD to do it every day!

Merfolk Academy

The Merfolk Academy teaches guests how to leave the shore and flip their fins under the water twice daily on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Cypress Springs Pool all summer. To book this experience, call 844-308-5056. While this is an extra cost, it was a ton of fun! As you can see, parents are welcome to take the class with their kids!

Y’ARRRd Games

Head down to the Coquina Lawn from 1-5 pm to try your hand (or hook) at fun games for the entire crew. Is that not the face of intense concentration?????

First Mate Movies on the Deck
Watch a family-friendly movie as the sun sets on the Cypress Springs poolside screen at 8:15 pm (weather permitting). The movie schedule is on the activity guides you get at check in at the Resort.

ARRRts & Crafts

Ready to get arrrtsy? Inside the Arcade from noon – 4 pm you can escape the heat (or rain) by making your own pirate sword, crown, or eyepatch for a nominal fee.

Pirate Invasion Parade

Meet in the Lobby and promenade throughout the beautiful Gaylord Palms Atrium alongside of Princess Priscilla and Johnny in your pirate finest at 5pm. Who knows…you may even get some hints as to where you can find Pirate Blackheart’s treasure.

Blackheart’s Treasure Hunt

Captain Blackheart stashed priceless treasures throughout the Gaylord Palms, and on this Treasure Hunt you will find them and be rewarded handsomely.

Stories and Chanties Under the Stars

Step right up and listen to the tall tales of the seven seas with Princess Priscilla and Johnny as she embarks upon the perils and pleasures of becoming the first female Pirate Captain. This high energy show involves theatrics, chanties, and ends with s’mores under the stars.

A Sneak Peek At Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

The opening of Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, at the Universal Orlando Resort, is only a few weeks away, and we are sharing a sneak peek at the new Resort.

The Universal Orlando Blog described the resort as…

From cascading waterfalls and massive stone turrets to vintage rum and fresh ceviche, we’ve always been drawn to the history and allure of the Caribbean. Guest Rooms

Loews Sapphire Falls Resort rooms are inspired by the adventurous spirit and exotic destinations of the Golden Age of Travel, and the new look captures the tranquil serenity and bold heritage that embodies the spirit of the islands.

“Our new rooms are vibrant and luxurious, evoking the romance of traveling to the South Pacific” says Complex Managing Director Barb Bowden. “Combined with an extensive upgrade and renovation to the bathrooms, it is an entirely new room product for our guests to experience.”

The color palette was inspired by the islands, with sandy neutrals punctuated with hints of turquoise and tangerine reminiscent of sand, water and flowers. If you look closely, you will see that the custom furniture pieces make use of leather strapping details, metal corner guards, buckles and rivets, which are all nods to vintage luggage, steamer trunks, and majestic steamships.

Resort Pool

The sparkling 16,000 square foot resort pool at Sapphire Falls draws inspiration from Caribbean Sea, and is the largest at the Universal Orlando Resort!

The Sapphire Falls pool is also unique in design, because it has random and slightly varying depths to mimic the sea floor.

Surrounded by sandy beaches and palm trees, this pool looks like the perfect place to cool off after a day in the Universal Orlando parks!

Food & Beverage

A highlight of any vacation is indulging in food, and Sapphire Falls is no exception with four new dining options at the Resort.

Today we are sharing a peek at Amatista Cookhouse and the Strong Water Tavern.

The Amatista Cookhouse features Caribbean cuisine prepared in an exhibition kitchen that will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant will offer waterfront dining with indoor, outdoor and private seating options.

With a rum captain as your guide, the Strong Water Tavern sounds like it will be a go-to stop for adult visitors to Sapphire Falls. The lounge, open for lunch and dinner, will have a wall of vintage rums, a unique ceviche bar, and a patio overlooking the lagoon that will offer daily rum tastings.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando Celebrates Global Wellness Day 2016

In observance of the fifth annual Global Wellness Day on Saturday, June 11, 2016, Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort is encouraging guests to “Say Yes!” to wellness, with fitness classes and special menu options designed to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Global Wellness Day reminds the entire world of the importance of living well, encompassing everything from exercise and spa treatments to the harmony between body and spirit. This is a social movement without any commercial purpose, celebrated around the world on the second Saturday of June every year. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts decided to partner with Global Wellness Day to highlight the company’s vast wellness initiatives and outstanding spas within the portfolio.

During the weekend of Global Wellness Day, June 10-12, 2016, there are several ways Four Seasons Resort Orlando is celebrating the occasion:

At the Spa

The highlight of Global Wellness Day at Four Seasons Resort Orlando will be at The Spa, with special guest activities from lululemon athletica, which will provide two complimentary outdoor yoga classes to celebrate Global Wellness Day at the Resort. Yoga classes will be held on June 11 at 9:30 am and 11:30 am, and rhythmic drumming classes will be held at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. The drum circle will take place on the Spa Lawn and will promote camaraderie and wellbeing. Drumming has been proven to promote physiological and psychological benefits that reduce stress, nurture togetherness and provide great exercise and fun.

In addition, there will be a pop up trunk show for lululemon in The Spa, from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm, where attendees and guests can shop the latest fitness apparel from lululemon.

Post-class, guests have the option of enjoying a delicious farmer’s market lunch created by the culinary team atFour Seasons Resort Orlando. A fresh salad bar with numerous house-made dressings and fresh-squeezed juices will be available for purchase.

Participants must reserve their spot online for yoga classes and drum classes. While classes are complimentary to participate, space is limited and reservations are required.

At the Resort’s Restaurants

Lickety Split, the Resort’s grab-and-go coffee shop, will offer a detox juice for guests to enjoy, made in-house with fresh pineapple, cucumber, kale and celery for USD 7.

At PB&G, located poolside at the Resort, patrons can enjoy a delicious protein salad, made with baby spinach, toasted cashews, roasted beets, hard-boiled free range egg and topped with an apple cider and bloomed chia seed vinaigrette along with choice of salmon, beef or chicken for USD 27 (USD 15 without fish or meat).

For dinner at Capa, the Resort’s 17th floor rooftop steakhouse, diners can feast on a grilled swordfish dish, served with a summer salad and pickled seasonal fruit for USD 32. Capa was recently named Critic’s Choice – Best Restaurant in Orlando by Orlando magazine.

Spring Into Fun At The Four Seasons Resort Orlando

This Spring the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort restaurants are expanding their menus, hosting special events, and celebrating the special women in our lives.

Here’s a peek at some of the Spring highlights at the Resort!

New Menu at PB&G

PB&G, the popular lakeside restaurant featuring rotisserie meats and Southern favourites, has expanded its dining hours and now offers a dinner menu. Dinner is served Wednesday through Sunday nights from 6:00 to 9:30 pm, featuring dishes such as ahi tuna nachos, a chopped seafood cobb salad, coffee-crusted rotisserie ribeye, smokehouse burger and much more. PB&G is cool and comfortable when the sun goes down, and a fun ambiance is created by the twinkling lights and lanterns throughout its three floating pavilions and the lively central bar. Dessert is a must, with items made for sharing, including an incredible oversize classic banana split and a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie baked and served in a cast iron skillet, topped with caramel, pecans and vanilla ice cream. The PB&G team looks forward to welcoming regular guests and seeing new faces to try the restaurant for dinner.

Jockeys & Juleps – It’s Derby Time at PB&G

It’s off to the races for the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Four Seasons Resort Orlando invites guests to break out their Derby hats and suit up in seersucker and bold prints for a viewing party at PB&G from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm.

Enjoy watching the races from the restaurant televisions and sip on one of the beverage specials offered to revellers throughout the day. PB&G will feature its special bourbon in partnership with Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with the traditional Jessie’s Mint Julep for USD 8. Take a “Tour of Kentucky” with bourbon flights and sample the PB&G bourbon from Four Roses, Buffalo Trace, Bulleit and Woodford Reserve.

Southern food specials including shrimp po’boy sliders, Kentucky fried chicken, a hot brown sandwich, bourbon sticky ribs, and candied bacon with a side of bourbon on the rocks are sure to be a hit. Plus, the Finish Line Split, PB&G’s new banana split, is big enough to feed an entire table.

Patrons sporting a Derby appropriate hat will receive a 10 percent savings on their bill. A Pick the Winner competition will offer prizes to the attendees who successfully select the winning horse. For a photo finish to the day, the patron wearing the best Derby hat chosen by the restaurant staff will win a cooking class with PB&G Chef Mikey Termini.

Mother’s Day

It’s time to celebrate moms on Sunday, May 8, 2016, and the Resort offers several options for enjoying a special family meal.

Ravello will offer a decadent buffet menu from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, with many different offerings including pasta stations, a seafood bar and raw bar, a carving station with prime rib and herb-crusted lamb leg, and much more. There will also be a full dessert buffet station and separate children’s buffet. Brunch is USD 110 per adult and USD 45 per child age 5-12.

For dinner service, Capa will feature its regular menu, but will also have a special supplementary menu with specials including a duck confit appetizer and a petite filet, plus a chocolate lava cake dessert with banana ice cream. Plus, all moms will receive a complimentary glass of cava and a box of macarons for celebrating at Capa.

For those seeking a Sunday brunch, Plancha at Tranquilo Golf Clubhouse now offers a three-course Sunday brunch for USD 68 per person, including bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys.

“Texsom” Wine Dinner at Capa

This special dinner is intended for those truly passionate about wine. Capa is welcoming five Master Sommeliers onFriday, May 20, 2016 at 6:30 pm for an interactive wine dinner.

Executive Chef Fabrizio Schenardi, Executive Pastry Chef Rabii Saber, Capa Chef Tim Dacey, Plancha Chef Pedro Sanchez, and PB&G Chef Mikey Termini will be participating alongside the Master Sommeliers including James Tidwell, beverage manager of Four SeasonsResort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas; Andy McNamara, director of fine wines for Premier Beverage Company; Brian Koziol, food & beverage concept and development director for Walt Disney World Resort; and two additional sommeliers, to be named in the coming weeks. Tidwell is creator of the Texsom Conference, coming toFour Seasons Resort Dallas this August. The five Master Sommeliers will pour 30 award winning wines for an educational and culinary experience. Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo elevates glamping to a new level of luxury with Luxe Teepees

Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo announced the expansion of its lodging offerings with the addition of 10 Luxe Teepees, offering the next evolution in all-inclusive glamping luxury (glamorous camping).

The 651-square-foot Luxe Teepees provide guests the pinnacle of luxury living in an outdoor adventure atmosphere. Each Luxe Teepee can accommodate up to four guests and is uniquely designed with décor themed in Native American style with such comforts as a double-sided stone rock hearth fireplace, screened private patio deck, microwave, mini refrigerator, leather chairs, a king bed, full sleeper sofa and air conditioning and heating. The Luxe Teepees also feature their own private ensuite bathrooms with vanity and porcelain cast iron claw bathtub and shower. The Luxe Teepees are located in an exclusive area of Westgate River Ranch Resort, clustered around a canopy of 100-year-old oak trees.
