Experiencing SummerFest At The Gaylord Palms
Disclosure: I was hosted by the Gaylord Palms Resort to experience SummerFest, but all opinions are my own.
The Gaylord Palms Resort is known for ICE!, their special event in the winter, but this Summer the resort has been taken over by an invasion of Pirates, Princesses, and fun as SummerFest fills the Resort with exclusive activities from now until August 21, 2016.
During SummerFest you will be introduced to Princess Blackheart and story of a how she became the Ruler of Pirate Kingdom with exclusive events including character breakfasts, resort-wide scavenger hunts, and tons of outdoor and water fun for pirates of all ages.
It is really easy to spend several days in the resort taking part in all the SummerFest Activities!
Princess Priscilla’s Coronation Character Breakfast
Join Captain Blackheart the Pirate King crew alongside his daughter, Princess Priscilla, infamous Captain Pat Beeks, and his singing cabin boy Jonny Stranger at MOOR every morning from 8 am – 11 am. This breakfast buffet has an ideal setting and delicious food including a waffle bar. Can we take a moment to talk about how epic Zoe’s waffle was???
Shiver me Timbers, it’s Morning Cartoons!
Start your morning off right with classic cartoons at the Cypress Springs Pool from 9 – 10 am. There is nothing like watching Batman cartoons in a pool on a beautiful summer morning!
The SoBe Splash Party
At Cypress Springs Pool from noon until 4 pm (weather permitting) Captain Blackheart leads pool games, dance pARRRties, and you will do as he says or you will walk the plank. This was one of Zoe’s favorite parts of the weekend, and she HAD to do it every day!
Merfolk Academy
The Merfolk Academy teaches guests how to leave the shore and flip their fins under the water twice daily on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Cypress Springs Pool all summer. To book this experience, call 844-308-5056. While this is an extra cost, it was a ton of fun! As you can see, parents are welcome to take the class with their kids!
Y’ARRRd Games
Head down to the Coquina Lawn from 1-5 pm to try your hand (or hook) at fun games for the entire crew. Is that not the face of intense concentration?????
First Mate Movies on the Deck
Watch a family-friendly movie as the sun sets on the Cypress Springs poolside screen at 8:15 pm (weather permitting). The movie schedule is on the activity guides you get at check in at the Resort.
ARRRts & Crafts
Ready to get arrrtsy? Inside the Arcade from noon – 4 pm you can escape the heat (or rain) by making your own pirate sword, crown, or eyepatch for a nominal fee.
Pirate Invasion Parade
Meet in the Lobby and promenade throughout the beautiful Gaylord Palms Atrium alongside of Princess Priscilla and Johnny in your pirate finest at 5pm. Who knows…you may even get some hints as to where you can find Pirate Blackheart’s treasure.
Blackheart’s Treasure Hunt
Captain Blackheart stashed priceless treasures throughout the Gaylord Palms, and on this Treasure Hunt you will find them and be rewarded handsomely.
Stories and Chanties Under the Stars
Step right up and listen to the tall tales of the seven seas with Princess Priscilla and Johnny as she embarks upon the perils and pleasures of becoming the first female Pirate Captain. This high energy show involves theatrics, chanties, and ends with s’mores under the stars.
SummerFest is an awesome addition to the Gaylord Palms Resort, and with so many different activities there truly is something for everyone to enjoy!
