WWE Legend Mick Foley is coming to Full Sail Live with ‘Cheap Pops’

Friday April 24, 2015

See “Mick Foley: Cheap Pops!” with special appearances by JR Jim Ross and more!!

Mick Foley, WWE champion, a hardcore legend, and WWE Hall of Fame Member, for one night only is bringing his one-man comedy show ‘Cheap Pops’ to Full Sail Live.

While his work in the WWE ring is impressive, he is also a five time self-penned New York Times best-sellers who has turned his writings into his one-man spoken-word stage show, “Tales From Wrestling Past.”

httpv://youtu.be/tc_f228Mr5E

Foley himself refers to “Tales From Wrestling Past” as “like being in the ring, without getting hurt” – a welcome distinction coming from a man who gave so much, to so many, for so long.

Foley has wowed both crowds and critics alike with his unique stage show –  leading “Chortle”, the UK’s most respected comedy source to write “Foley himself is charm personified – eloquent, funny and self-effacing” and the decidedly non-wrestling publication “Broadway Baby” to muse, “if you’re interested at all in wrestling you’ll love it; if you’re not, you’ll like it.”

It’s important to know that this event is only for patrons 18 and older.

Tickets are STILL available for ‘Cheap Pops’ at Full Sail Live, and are General Admission for $25 (plus $1 fee) here.

I am a HUGE Mick Foley fan, both of his WWE fame and his books, and I can’t tell you how excited I am that he is coming to Orlando and how jealous that my husband Dave will be there!

Taking Kids to WWE NXT At Full Sail University

WWE NXT Takeover Full Sail Gobo

Going to a WWE NXT taping at Full Sail University is a great and affordable way for families who love the WWE to see some of the future talent and some of their favorite WWE Superstars and Divas that visit each taping.

WWE NXT Takeover Stage 2

But since there are several episodes recorded at each WWE NXT event, here are some of my best tips for taking Kids to WWE NXT.

Pick Six: Taking Kids to WWE NXT

at Full Sail University

WWE NXT With Kids

1. Introduce them to the Superstars and Divas of WWE NXT.

WWE NXT WWE Network Logo
Photo: WWE

You can find episodes of WWE NXT on the WWE Network, and since episode is less than an hour it is easy for everyone to sit through!

2. Follow WWE NXT on Facebook and Twitter.

WWE NXT

Following WWE NXT on Facebook and Twitter will get the heads up on show dates, details, and even special events!

3. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the Full Sail Live Venue.

WWE NXT Full Sail

The Full Sail Live Venue has two categories of seating for WWE NXT, General Admission and Gold Circle. For general admission you will be seated on bleachers, and for Gold Circle seating you will be on folded chairs around the ring and ramp.

Gold Circle sells out extremely fast, but there is no need to worry because the General Admission Seats are all great!

You can find a link to buy tickets for WWE NXT events here.

4. WWE Superstars and Diva visits to WWE NXT.

WWE NXT Wyatt Family

What is really awesome is that at each WWE NXT taping at Full Sail University, WWE Superstars and Divas will have matches.

The WWE Superstars and Divas are announced prior to the event, so watch for information so you can find out when your child’s favorite wrestler will be visiting.

5. Come prepared for a long taping with some of their favorite things.

WWE NXT Ring

When you attend a WWE NXT taping, be prepared for an outing that will last around 4 hours! You can bring your own beverages (sodas in cans and if you bring screw top bottles the caps must be removed) and snacks into the venue or you can purchase them there at a very reasonable rate.

Also the Full Sail Live venue has free WiFi, so in case of emergency break out the WWE App or Minecraft!!!

6. Before the WWE NXT tapings

WWE NXT

Doors open for WWE NXT Tapings at 5:45 for a 6:30 show, and there are several places to eat around the Full Sail Live Venue or there are various local Food Trucks there for you to try.

Make sure that you follow WWE NXT on Facebook and Twitterbecause there will sometimes be opportunities to meet and greet with your favore WWE Superstars and Divas.

Parking at Full Sail can sometimes be difficult, so make sure you arrive on the earlier side so you won’t stress about parking.

NXT Takeover Poster

A bonus tip is that the WWE NXT tapings have grown to include Live Events that are taped at Full Sail University which are a lot of fun! The last Live Event was Takeover and it was amazing!

Red Bull BC One Qualifier Returns to Full Sail University

Red Bull BC One

B-Boys will Spin for the win at

Red Bull BC One Orlando Cypher

** Head to Head Competition Returns to Full Sail University on June 7 **

The Red Bull BC One qualifier returns to Orlando this year, where the best b-boys in the South will come together to fight for the top spot and the right to represent North America in France for the finals.  On June 7, iconic Full Sail University will serve as host to an event filled with spins, flips and dynamic dance.

Last year marked the biggest year yet for Red Bull BC One, with its eight past champions competing against eight new challengers.

Millions tuned in from around the globe to watch the battle go down in South Korea, where Seoul’s own Hong 10 took home his second World Champion belt.

Cypher season kicked off February 28 with the first event held in Cairo, Egypt and is now coming to the South for the Orlando Cypher on June 7.

Red Bull BC OneThroughout the year, the Red Bull BC One Cyphers is searching out the best B-Boys far and wide to earn a spot in the World Final.  Sixteen B-Boys will go head to head in each country in knockout battles to their nation at one of six Finals, which will be held this year in the USA, Brazil, Algeria, Finland, Croatia and Taiwan.  The Finals champions will go on to compete on France’s stage in November. Find the full Red Bull BC One Cypher schedule online.

Red Bull BC One was founded in 2004 in Biel, Switzerland.  Over the years, the championship has moved from Germany to Brazil, South Africa, France, the USA, Japan, Russia and South Korea. Today it remains a key event in Hip Hop culture, helping to push the art form forward while respecting the original format of one-on-one battles.

Redbullbcone.com represents the largest online network of B-Boys and fans; and the event is home to the biggest Facebook community in the scene, with more than 1.2 million fans. The Finals and World Final will be live-streamed at redbullbcone.com.

Some of the 16 Red Bull BC One Orlando Cypher participants include:

Unnex, Arecibo, Puerto Rico
Hip-hop culture has been part of his life since 2008.  Unnex started break dancing when he was 16 years old, but was first introduced to the dance form at the age of 12 by watching the movie Beat Street.  He is confident, determined, intelligent, energetic, spontaneous and charismatic.  Unnex considers his style undefined, because he likes to battle and dance by free styling.

Zao, Miami, FL
Zao’s (zay-oh) real name is Daniel Montenegro.  He is 26 years old and was born and raised in Miami.  Hi started break dancing at the age of 14, while in 9th grade.  Zao was given his name by two childhood friends – because he would wear his favorite band T-shirt to practice every Friday. The lettering of the shirt reminded them of a Bboy style shirt with the name on the top back. Zao is currently dancing & training to inspire others around him to become involved in dance.

Sweet P, Houston, TX
Hailing from Haiti, Sweet P lived in Houston most of his life and began b-boying at the end of middle school.  He learned the art of dance from four amazingly-talented performers, who taught him the foundations of a broad range of dance styles.  Sweet P doesn’t really dance in a crew, but calls the people he dances with family.  Groups that he has collaborated with include the Inertia Dance Co., History Dance Co. RAD Crew, Jungle Brothers Crew, The Dirty Nation, Thug Bunnies, Groovernadez, Beat Geeks and all of the other individual dancers I’ve danced with.

Jose, Houston, TX
21-year-old Jose Cardenas has been dancing for more than six years.  The Houston native is a crew-member of Hazardous Zombies. “I just hope people enjoy watching the way I dance,” says Cardenas.

Tung Fu, Orlando, FL
Tung Fu is no stranger to the Bboy scene. The 22 year-old started breaking in 2005 and has since dominated competitions in both the US and Europe. Tung Fu represents The MF Kidz crew from Orlando, FL.

Chrizo, Miami, FL
Charlie Chizo was born and raised in Miami, where he started dancing around 2003.  Chizo’s crew affiliation is the Flip Side Kings.

WWE NXT Takeover Overview

NXT Takeover Poster

NXT Takeover – May 29, 2014 – Overview

NXT Takeover, the second live special to be shown on the WWE Network, is coming to Full Sail University on May 29, 2014, and I couldn’t be more excited!

I expect the show to be taken to the next level after the success of the first NXT Special ArRIVAL on the WWE Network where the show had 21 worldwide Twitter trends and was ranked 3rd in overall social mentions for primetime programs on both cable and broadcast with more social mentions than American Idol, the Vikings premiere on History Channel, college basketball on ESPN, and Vampire Diaries on CW.

WWE NXT Takeover NXT ArRIVAL

On Wednesday, May 28, at 10:00 pm EST, the NXT Takeover Preview on the WWE Network will take an in-depth look at the rivalries behind the matches with Renee Young.

During this preview, viewers will also be able to watch exclusive interviews with WWE Hall of Famers Bret “Hit Man” Hart and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, as they prepare to be ringside for the NXT Women’s Championship Match between Natalya and Charlotte. I am really excited to hear these two WWE Legends talk about their families past, present, and future!

NXT Takeover Preshow begins at 7:30 pm EST on May 29th, as Renee Young and a panel of experts including Christian, Paul Heyman, and Cesaro who will be analyzing each match of the night ahead. You never know what you can expect, so I hoping that there are some special guests that will be joining them!

WWE NXT Takeover Stage 1

At 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m. PST, NXT Takeover begins, and it is sure to be a night packed full of action and great matches.

Speaking of matches, let’s look at what is lined up for NXT Takeover!

NXT Championship Match – Adrian Neville (c) vs. Tyson Kidd

NXT Takeover Neville Kidd
Photo: WWE

I am going to admit that I am EXTREMELY biased on this match, because I am huge fan of the Man That Gravity Forgot Adrian Neville.

WWE NXT Takeover Adrian Neville Flying

Tyson Kidd, the last graduate of the legendary Hart Dungeon, arrived on the NXT scene and has been gaining wins to help propel him to Takeover the NXT Championship from Adrian Neville.

But even with momentum on his side, Tyson Kidd is going to have a battle on his hands as Adrian Neville is a highly efficient wrestler both on the ground and in the air with his signature finisher he calls the ‘Red Arrow’ (corkscrew shooting star press).

WWE NXT Takeover Adrian Neville

I expect this match to be a ‘slobberknocker’ (thank you JR for the perfect term) full of action and memorable moments.

I am hoping that Neville keeps the NXT Championship, but a loss could set up an amazing rivalry!

NXT Women’s Championship Tournament Finals – Natalya vs. Charlotte

NXT Takeover Charlotte Natalya
Photo: WWE

Natalya and Charlotte both come from legendary WWE families, and the intensity of their match is sure to be taken to a new level as family members will be in their corner during this NXT Women’s Championship Tournament Final.

The Flair and Hart families have always had an on and off screen rivalry, so seeing these ladies continue in their family’s legacies is exciting.

WWE NXT Takeover Natalya

Natalya, a third generation WWE Wrestler who’s father is Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhartand uncle is Bret Hart who will be accompanying her to the ring, is sure to be tasked with carrying a large majority of this match. Natalya is, again in my opinion, the backbone of the WWE Divas as she is a solid wrestler with her feet firmly on the ground and eyes towards her future.

WWE NXT Takeover Charlotte and Flair

Charlotte, daughter of WWE Legend Ric Flair who will be in her corner of the ring, is an extremely talented gal who’s star is definitely on the rise. With strong mic skills, an athletic and gymnastic competitor, and will to win Charlotte is going to be a worthy opponent.

WWE NXT Takeover Ric Flair

Natalya has a lot to gain from helping Charlotte not only win this match, but to help her emerge as a shining diamond among the growing field of NXT Divas. I think that Charlotte takes the NXT Women’s Championship belt, but Natalya wins bigger as she firmly takes a grasp on her role within the WWE.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match – The Ascension (c) vs. El Local and Kalisto

NXT Takeover The Ascension Tag Team
Photo: WWE

The Ascension has brought a new level of competitiveness that can’t be matched to NXT since they won the Tag Team Championship in October 2013.

The team’s gothic theme plays well, and Konnor and Viktor work extremely well together as a team because their skills and strengths compliment each other well and they always hit a great rhythm in the ring.

Conversely, El Local and Kalisto are a new Tag Team that seem to be confidently putting one toe in the ocean against this NXT powerhouse team. Individually, these two have a lot to offer and watching them put their skills together and grow as a team will be fun.

WWE NXT Takeover The Acenscion

I don’t think that El Local and Kalisto stand much of a chance against The Ascension, but I do think that the match will give some insight as to where the NXT Tag Team Championship may go in the future.

#1 Contender Match – Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze

NXT Takeover Zayn Breeze
Photo: WWE

WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME??? How can I possibly choose in a match between Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze!!!

Sami Zayn is a powerhouse of a wrestler, who because of his size and build is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Sami Zayn is electric in the ring with a vast repertoire of moves, likeable personality, and strong will to perform to the next level even when he has outdone himself in a match.

You can never count Sami Zayn out, because you don’t know where he will strike from next as he is as fast and deliberate on the ground and accurate when he is jumping from the post.

Tyler Breeze, the self-proclaimed King of Selfies, who’s gimmick has a tendency to overshadow his aggressive and athletic feats in the ring is a great match for Sami Zayn.

WWE NXT Takeover Tyler Breeze

Tyler Breeze, again not a big guy, thrives in matches that are fast paced however when he can slow down and grapple his athleticism shines through.

In a battle of these two fan favorites, we all win! Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze are two great competitors who have a knack for drawing audiences into their matches, so this match is sure to have people chanting and screaming the whole time. I can’t wait!

Adam Rose vs. Camacho

NXT Takeover Rose Camacho
Photo: WWE

Camacho may have skipped out on his last match with Adam Rose, but the Exotic Express is chugging along and heading right towards him!

Camacho has stumbled a little since parting from Hunico, but his rage and aggression play to his advantage as they are in stark contrast to Adam Rose. He’s a solid wrestler, but he needs to own his anger and let that propel his confidence in the ring. I hope that the crowd really gets involved during this match, as it helps him move the match along with a new fire.

Adam Rose brings back a sense of fun that has been noticeably absent from the WWE for quite some time, but the difference is that he can back up his act with solid performances instead of slapstick.

WWE NXT Takeover Adam Rose

Adam Rose comes to the ring with an infectious entrance and charismatic personality, but once the bell rings he isn’t there to party he is there to win. Adam Rose is an extremely strong and solid wrestler who performs with intensity and aggression.

I think that Adam Rose is going to execute a solid match to ‘Choo Choo’ right over Camacho to help solidify his role of being more than a party animal and gimmick.

If you were lucky enough to grab a ticket to NXT Takeover, there are a few things that you may want to keep in mind.

Tips for Attending NXT Takeover at Full Sail University

WWE NXT Takeover Full Sail Gobo

  • Arrive at the Full Sail Live Venue early!!! There will be a lot of traffic going in and out of the Full Sail Live Venue with more television equipment and stages than usual, so you can expect parking to take a bit longer. I like to drive down to the end of the rows to find a space, because you can usually score a closer spot that way.
  • There will be a ‘Block Party’ outside of the Full Sail Live Venue, so the normal entrance off of University Park Drive (Near McDonalds and Ale House) will be closed so you will want to use the entrance off of 436 (South Semoran Blvd) near Winghouse and Chili’s. There will be signage to help direct you on how to enter the area to park.
  • NXT Takeover Preshow is held outside of the Full Sail Live Venue on campus, and if you aren’t close to the stage you don’t have to worry because there is a huge screen and sound system so you won’t miss a thing!

WWE NXT Takeover Stage 2

  • At the ‘Block Party’ surrounding the Preshow Stage, you will be able to find WWE & NXT merchandise, food, and other offerings from vendors.
  • Make sure you know what you can and cannot bring with you into the facility, because you will have to go through bag check. If you are bringing in a poster, they are going to take a look at it to make sure it isn’t obscene. You are allowed to bring in outside food and drink, however if your drink has a screw top you will be asked to throw away the cap.

WWE NXT Takeover Shelley and Dave

  • The Picture and Video Policy at NXT is strictly enforced by ushers. Photos of the event are permitted, but video is prohibited. If you are caught taking video, you will have to delete it and will be asked to leave. It’s no joke, so don’t even try!

Full Sail University Partners With Hard Rock International For PINKTOBER

Full Sail University Partners with Hard Rock International in Support of PINKTOBER
Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Seminole Hard Rock Pinktober

Full Sail University has partnered with Hard Rock International in support of Hard Rock’s PINKTOBER campaign for breast cancer awareness. Nine female students from Full Sail’s game art and computer animation degree programs created a breast cancer awareness themed mixed media art piece that will be on display at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal CityWalk in Orlando, Fla., throughout the month of October. The art piece will be auctioned online for charity at a later date.

httpV://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB-M0G-dt0k&feature=youtu.be

Hard Rock’s PINKTOBER program encourages guests around the world to support breast cancer awareness by attending live music performances and pink-themed events at Hard Rock locations across the globe. Fans can visit their local Hard Rock and rock out for the cause with concerts and special events to benefit local breast cancer charities such as Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation and other breast cancer research and awareness organizations.

“We are excited to partner with Full Sail University to support PINKTOBER and breast cancer awareness in such a unique way,” said Jeff Jones, Marketing and Promotions Manager, Hard Rock Cafe and Hard Rock Live Orlando. “This partnership gives students the opportunity to have their artwork — inspired by such a great cause — featured at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal CityWalk for thousands of people to see throughout the month.”

Through the university’s project-based arts initiative known as The Art of Full Sail, nine female students collaborated over two days utilizing mixed media including paint, acrylic marker and a stylized guitar pick mosaic to produce the art piece. The entire process was documented on video and provides insight into the concept and creation of the one-of-a-kind artwork that was unveiled at Hard Rock’s annual PINKTOBER event featuring rock icon Bret Michaels at the Hard Rock Hotel on Sept. 26. Full Sail Recording Arts graduate Blake James composed and mixed the soundtrack for the video, which can be seen here:

“As a university community, Full Sail is proud to partner with Hard Rock on this incredible project in support of breast cancer awareness month and Hard Rock’s PINKTOBER initiatives,” said Garry Jones, President of Full Sail University. “We are honored and humbled that our students were selected to participate in this opportunity, allowing them to utilize their talents to have a positive impact in the fight against breast cancer.”

Tips To Know: Attending A NXT TAPING

Coming up on July 11th at Full Sail University, WWE NXT returns for what is shaping up to be yet another great night of wrestling featuring many of your favorite NXT superstars as well as appearances by WWE Superstars Dolph Ziggler and the current WWE Diva’s Champion, AJ Lee.

WWE NXT

I have had some amazing experiences attending NXTmyself, however, in this post I wanted to take the time to give both first timers and other NXT fans some tips and hints about attending future NXT events.

WWE NXT

One tip that I cannot stress enough is to buy your tickets for the event early. Tickets typically go on sale on the NXT ticketing website the day after the last NXT taping at Full Sail University has taken place and the best seats will often sell out quickly. However, if you are lucky enough to be at the Full Sail taping, tickets for the next NXT event go on sale directly after the show, giving you a bit of a jump start over those not in attendance. Seats are available for as little as $10 which enables you to access GA bleacher seating around the Full Sail Live arena. If you want to sit ringside, for $5 more you can purchase what is known as Gold Circle seating which brings you even closer to the action.

WWE NXT
John Cena at WWE NXT

Another tip is to arrive early to the events. If you purchased tickets via will call, the line typically begins to form a few hours before to get into the arena so you want to make sure you grab your tickets early enough to get a good spot in line. In past events, we have made a point of arriving not later than 4:30pm as doors typically open around 5:45 pm with the show itself starting at 6:30 pm. By arriving early, not only will you not have to worry about rushing to find seats but also you’ll avoid any last-minute traffic coming into the event.

WWE NXT

One last tip I have when attending NXT tapings is to make sure you follow WWE NXT on Twitter and Instagram as they constantly keep you up to date with any promotions, pre-sale codes and contests that may be going on during the show. Currently, NXT is holding an Instagram contest where if you dress up as your favorite NXT or WWE Superstar/Diva and then post a photo to Instagram with the name of the superstar, your twitter handle and the hashtag #NXTInstaSLAM you could win an exclusive meet-and-greet with a WWE Superstar before the 7/11 NXT TV Taping at Full Sail University. Entries must be submitted by 7/10 at 11:59 pm EST so be sure to enter as soon as possible!

Attending WWE NXT At Full Sail University

The last WWE Live event has come and gone at the Amway Center and suddenly you find yourself craving even more of the non-stop action that only professional wrestling can provide. Why wait another year for the next WWE Live event to return to Orlando when all the action is closer than you think?

Back in 2012, the WWE and Full Sail University in Winter Park entered a partnership that would bring the WWE’s developmental program WWE NXT to Full Sail’s campus for live tapings on select Thursday nights.

WWE NXT

Recently I was able to attend one of these tapings and being a big wrestling fan myself, I was interested to see what kind of experience the WWE could bring to a considerably smaller venue as compared to that of a large arena. Needless to say I was more than impressed!

Walking into the Full Sail Live Venue, one of the first things I noticed was how close all of the seats were to the in-ring action. With a capacity of 500, no seat was a bad seat.  In fact, the seats were so close that you could actually hear the wrestlers interacting with the crowd, something that is often missed when attending live events.

WWE NXT

Another pleasant surprise was the fact that at many of these tapings the WWE will often showcase some of your favorite WWE Superstars such as Alberto Del Rio, CM Punk, Damien Sandow, and even Chris Jericho. On the night I went we had an extremely surprise visit from none other than the WWE Champion himself, John Cena.

One last thing I really loved about attending the WWE NXT taping was how excited the fans were to be there. Even though NXT is the company’s proving ground for future talent, the crowd was still loud as ever. This was great not only for the wrestlers as they often feed of the energy of the crowd, but it also made for a very fun night as well.

If you would like to attend a future WWE NXT event, make sure to visit their website and follow NXT on Twitter (@WWENXT) for updates on upcoming tapings at Full Sail University.

Tickets sell for as low as $10 and if you would like to sit ringside you can purchase Gold Circle tickets for $15. All ticket sales go towards a WWE sponsored Full Sail scholarship fund which the organization has already been fortunate enough to have donated two $10,000 scholarships to some extremely hard working students.

The next phase of the WWE NXT and Full Sail Partnership kicks off this summer with the opening of the WWE Performance Center! We are really excited about it opening!
