Boyhood Opens At The Enzian Friday

boyhood

Boyhood – Opens Friday 8/1

“A masterpiece of American moviemaking. A moving and memorable 12-year epic of family life that isn’t quite like anything else in the history of cinema.”
– Andrew O’Hehir, SALON

Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater’s BOYHOOD is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (a breakthrough performance by Ellar Coltrane), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. Starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason’s parents and newcomer Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha, BOYHOOD charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before. Snapshots of adolescence from road trips and family dinners to birthdays and graduations and all the moments in between become transcendent, set to a soundtrack spanning the years from Coldplay’s Yellow to Arcade Fire’s Deep Blue. BOYHOOD is both a nostalgic time capsule of the recent past and an ode to growing up and parenting.

unnamed (1)

FRIDAY, JULY 25 AT 11:59PM
SATURDAY, JULY 26 AT 11:59PM

“WILLOW CREEK isn’t a joke. It’s not a satire. It’s an actual found footage horror movie that centers on Bigfoot… and it’s actually scary.” – Devin Faraci, BADASS DIGEST

A young couple find themselves face-to-face with a terrifying evil when they venture into the heart of Bigfoot country in WILLOW CREEK, director Bobcat Goldthwait’s (God Bless America, World’s Greatest Dad) unique spin on the horror genre.

Looking to make a splash with his research videos into the existence of Bigfoot, Jim (Bryce Johnson, Pretty Little Liars) and his girlfriend Kelly take a camping trip to the mountains surrounding Willow Creek, California, a small town where infamous footage of the supposed Sasquatch was filmed. Before long the headstrong couple are lost in the woods and discover that someone – or something – is stalking them. With each passing night bringing unknowable danger, the two must use all of their cunning to try to make it out of the forest alive.

Play Misty for Me

TUESDAY AT 9:30PM

Clint Eastwood made his directorial debut with this contemporary thriller about psychotic obsession. Eastwood also takes the lead in the starring role as Dave Garver, a popular radio disc jockey who repeatedly receives on-air phone requests from a sexy female fan to “play Misty for me.” When the woman, Evelyn Draper (Jessica Walter), orchestrates a rendezvous with Dave at his favorite nightspot, the two begin a torrid affair. But when Dave decides to end the relationship, Evelyn’s obsession turns to violence. Soon everything and everyone in Dave’s life becomes a target for Evelyn’s increasingly deadly campaign of terror. Beautifully photographed on location in Eastwood’s hometown of Carmel, California, PLAY MISTY FOR ME continues to be considered one of the great modern-day thrillers.

Le Chef At The Enzian Through Thursday

unnamed

“Ceaselessly charming! It gets sweeter and more delicious by the frame.”
– Jeffrey Lyons, LYONS DEN RADIO

Winner!
Audience Award for Best International Feature,
2014 Florida Film Festival

Toss together a veteran three-star chef, a new CEO who wants him out, a molecular gastronomist whom the CEO wants in, and an incredibly talented and obsessive young chef. Throw in a dash of Japanese high farce. Sauté with the flawless charm and great timing of French comedy and voila! LE CHEF. Jacky is a young chef who keeps getting fired from his jobs at ordinary restaurants where he expects extraordinary gastronomes. Béatrice is Jacky’s very pregnant girlfriend. Alexandre Lagarde (played by the fabulous Jean Reno, Leon the Professional) is a three-star living legend past his prime. Sweating his contract (that depends on his three stars), Chef Lagarde pits his wits against a new CEO who wants his traditional French cuisine replaced by molecular gastronomy. Sacré bleu! Jacky has been reduced to washing windows at a nursing home when the two meet and begin a brilliant collaboration. French, funny, food, love, LE CHEF has it all.

Ballet on the Big Screen:
SLEEPING BEAUTY

SATURDAY AT 11AM

Described by Rudolf Nureyev as the “ballet of ballets,” “Sleeping Beauty” remains one of the jewels in the heritage of dance. In its splendid fantasy, dream and reality overlap, and the forces of Good and Evil battle for the fate of two innocents. Rudolf Nureyev restaged the work in 1989 for the Paris Opera Ballet, devising a choreography of dazzling academic virtuosity. Alternating between lavish ensembles and pas de deux “Sleeping Beauty” includes the famous Rose Adagio, one of the most challenging sequences in all of ballet. With sumptuous sets and costumes by Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino, this production of “Sleeping Beauty” is one of the most outstandingly accomplished masterpieces in the classical repertoire.
