Ihu’s Breakaway Falls Challenge Nights at Aquatica Orlando

Aquatica Orlando is celebrating Ihu’s Breakaway Falls first birthday with select Ihu’s Breakaway Falls Challenge Nights: May 8, 15, and 22.

Challenge your friends to drop during Ihu’s Challenge Nights and experience Ihu’s Breakaway Falls the tallest, steepest, longest and only multi-drop tower slides of its kind in the southern United States. The best way to take the challenge and experience Ihu’s Breakaway Falls is during select Challenge Nights.

Ihu’s Breakaway Falls Challenge Nights is a separate ticketed event at Aquatica Orlando that will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on May 8, 15, and 22. However from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, only certain attractions will be operating, including Ihu’s Breakaway Falls, Omaka Rocka, Whanau Way, and both wave pools.

Tickets for Ihu’s Breakaway Falls Challenge Night are $25 plus tax, and include admission, parking, and a picnic meal at Aquatica Orlando’s Banana Beach Restaurant.

Ihu’s Breakaway Falls – Aquatica

Ihu’s Breakaway Falls at Aquatica is open and asking guests if they are #BreakawayBrave!

At nearly 80 feet tall, Ihu’s Breakaway Falls is Orlando’s tallest, steepest and only multi-drop tower slide of its kind.  Offering four unique slide paths, you’ll step into one of three “breakaway boxes” and watch each other fall one-by-one or test your bravery on a fourth open slide for a different but just as thrilling experience.

We had the opportunity to drop by Ihu’s Breakaway Falls before it opened, and while I chickened out Kelly and Dave had an absolute blast on the slides.

There are three Breakaway Box slides and one open slide on Ihu’s 80ft Tower.

Drop more than three stories and slide for 420 feet, the longest of the four slides, on the orange slide. 

The green slide path has the shortest drop, but it’s still a 28-foot fall – that’s the same as four seven-foot tall basketball players!

Fall from the blue slide if you’re looking for the steepest slide with a breakaway box.

While the purple slide isn’t a true drop slide, it is by no means a “chicken slide”. In fact, this open-aired slide is the steepest of all four slides. 

And once you are in your breakaway box the anticipation truly begins! All three boxes face each other, and each has their own countdown and heartbeat  so you have no idea when you or the other riders will drop at 20-24 feet per second down the slide.

Dave tried all three breakaway box slides, and couldn’t get back up the stairs fast enough to try them again! His favorite slide was the orange slide, which is the longest of the three slides, and his best piece of advice is to keep your arms and legs crossed as you stay more streamline and go faster.

Kelly was crazier, and in addition to the breakaway slides she gave the purple open slide a try. She warns not to be fooled one bit by the purple side!!!

Guests brave enough to take the challenge must be at least 48″ (1.22 m) tall. Jewelry, life vests, cotton shirts or sports / non-swimwear shorts, and footwear of any kind may not be worn on this slide. Cameras of any kind are also not permitted. All loose items must be left with a non-rider. Guests must be able to maintain proper riding position. Maximum rider weight is 300 lbs (136 kg), and is for single riders only.

The Final Slide Section Installed at Ihu’s Breakaway Falls

The final slide section was installed today at Aquatica Orlando’s newest attraction, Ihu’s Breakaway Falls. More than 200 sections are bolted together to make Orlando’s tallest, steepest and only multi-drop tower slide of its kind.  Ihu’s Breakaway Falls opens May 9.

Ihu’s Breakaway Falls is the only high-speed water thrill slide in the world that propels guests through four, 360-degree spirals.
