MATT LUZUNARIS TO LEAVE ORLANDO CITY

Striker leaves Orlando with nine goals in 18 regular season matches

Orlando City confirmed they will not be picking up the second year option on Matt Luzunaris’ contract, giving Matt the opportunity to explore his opportunities overseas.

“We’re excited that Matt has an opportunity to go out and test his playing ability in Europe,” said Head Coach, Adrian Heath. “Matt played a big part in our success last year and we wish him nothing but the very best as he continues his journey in professional soccer.”

Luzunaris played in 18 regular season matches for Orlando in 2012, scoring nine goals while notching two assists for the Lions in 934 minutes played. The Margate, Fla., native originally joined Orlando while on loan with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2011.

The forward has also made a significant impact off the pitch, helping his late-fiancé Austen Everett start the Austen Everett Foundation- a non-profit charity that strives to empower children during their fight with cancer. More information can be found at www.austeneverettfoundation.org.
