Island H2O Live! Water Park At Margaritaville Resort Orlando

Margaritaville Resort Orlando Announces Island H2O Live! Water Park

Margaritaville Resort Orlando Announces Island H2O Live! Water Park Details

Island H2O Live! water park set to bring chills and thrills to Central Florida in Spring 2019

I don’t know about you, but I am STOKED for the opening of the Margaritaville Resort Orlando in Spring 2019!

And as I’ve been driving by the site, I can’t help but notice the HUGE water park area that is taking shape next to 192 in Kissimmee.

Today I was excited to learn that Central Florida’s newest and most immersive water park will be called Island H2O Live!, and will be opening with the Margaritaville Resort Orlando in Spring 2019.

Island H2O Live! will unleash the power of pure play and enthusiasm with nine different thrill rides, a lazy river, a wave pool, a kids’ area, and a river raft ride for the whole family. Designed to enable guests to customize their experience and share it with the world, the park uses a new RFID wristband system that will enable guests to personalize the music and lighting they experience on select rides, making every time very unique.

The park, owned by Horizon Waterpark, LLC and developed in collaboration with Encore Capital Management and Innovative Attraction Management, will change the way people think about water parks.

Island H2O Live Park Map Rendering
Margaritaville Resort Orlando

“Water parks are known for exhilarating rides and attractions, but Island H2O Live! will let guests be playful in interactive ways that have never been seen before,” said Albo Antenucci Jr., Executive in Charge, Horizon Waterpark, LLC. “These incredible opportunities for engagement will be what Island H2O Live! is all about.”

BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY

The wristband system at Island H2O Live! is called Vantage and is the latest offering from water slide manufacturer WhiteWater West.

The Vantage system works through an app that guests download either before or when they arrive. Once they arrive at the park, guests sync the app to their wristbands and the fun begins, as a scanner on certain slides will read their wristband and automatically play songs and lighting effects from the previously established selections.

On some slides, the technology will enable cameras to snap pictures and video and share the content directly to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or other social media sites. Guests can also use their creativity and personal style to produce their own slide experience by choosing music playlists, lighting preferences and tagging their social media handles for easy sharing.

Another high-tech feature: “Be Live” invites guests to sing karaoke or star in other audio/visual experiences with clips from these sessions shared through the app.
The gamified app also allows guests to earn loyalty points with every ride. Guests can win prizes such as free food and beverage items, skip-the-line passes, and more.

“These features speak to the ‘Live’ part of our name,” Albo Antenucci Jr. “Customization offers guests the creative space to develop their own adventures, to be in the moment, but then capture those moments and share them in real-time.”

PERSONALIZED PARADISE

The experience at Island H2O Live! will be all about creating your own, unique, customized experience. For those looking to soak in the island vibe, listen to music, and have some chill with their thrill, tropically-inspired havens will abound with hammocks, cabanas and soft sand beaches around every turn and adult-only areas will offer cocktails only steps from your beach chair.

To keep the fun going. Island H20 Live! is within walking distance or a short trolley ride to Margaritaville Orlando Resort hotel and cottages, and Sunset Walk, the resort’s retail, dining and entertainment district featuring everything from Studio Movie Grill, to Rock & Brews, BurgerFi, Capone’s, Ford’s Garage, GameTime, Sketchers and more.

AFFORDABLE FUN

Island H20 Live! admission will offer the most fun you can have in the water at a great value. Please visit IslandH2OLive.com for specific ticket pricing or to book tickets call 407-910-1401.

Gatorland Opens New Off-Road Adventure

Gatorland has just completed their largest expansion since the park’s opening in 1949, and it features a brand new (and super fun) off-road adventure that  Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure ride and Gator Joe’s Adventure Outpost.

For the Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure, guest climb aboard one of three, 12-foot-high custom-made, off-road monster vehicles for a 15-minute rugged and hilarious adventure like no other theme park ride anywhere. This exciting ride is chocked full of wacky new Gatorland characters, singing tour guides, swampy adventure, and, of course, lots of alligators.  Each vehicle is specially branded and named after iconic real alligators and crocodiles at Gatorland, including Bonecrusher, Cannibal Jake, and Swamp Ghost.

' Gator Gatorland Bonecrusher on hill 2
Gatorland

Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure’s story line is a journey into the world of Gator Gardens, a fictional rival park that takes over a swamp buggy business from a new Gatorland character named Swampy Sal. Tour guides take riders off-road for a very different adventure of unexpected twists and turns, including an alligator graveyard and a plunge through a pond of hungry alligators.  A comedic plot played out between monster vehicle drivers and on-board personal guides is played out in the wild search for Swampy Sal.

“This is great entertainment and loads of fun,” said Gatorland President & CEO Mark McHugh.  “Our new ride is a perfect addition to all our featured adventure activities throughout the park.  The fact is, there’s not another ride like this anywhere.  We showcase beautiful Florida swamps, piney woods, and alligators with a rough, bouncy ride featuring our very own style of country humor.  This is a great ride.”

Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure vehicles depart from the brand new Gator Joe’s Adventure Outpost building, home base for all of Gatorland’s add-on adventures such as Screamin’ Gator Zip Line, Gator Night Shine, Adventure Hour, Trainer For The Day and more.  It also serves as a second gift shop for the park, selling Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure exclusive merchandise, snacks and beverages.

' Gator Gatorland guests look at Graveyard
Gatorland

Gator Joe’s Adventure Outpost is named after Ernest “Gator Joe” Brown, who was hired by Owen Godwin Sr., Gatorland’s founder, to work at the park.  Brown was known all over Central Florida, especially throughout Kissimmee and Osceola County, as Gator Joe because of his great love and expertise with alligators.  Gator Joe raised thousands and thousands of baby gators at Gatorland.  He had a special knack for getting them to eat and grown quickly.  When he hollered “GATOR! GATOR BOY!” across the lakes, every gator would swim as fast as they could to meet him.  Gator Joe worked at Gatorland from 1958 until shortly before he passed away in 2013. For almost 60 years, Gator Joe and his family’s influence on Gatorland has run long and deep, with some of his family still working at Gatorland today.

Cost for adults and children to ride Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure is $10, in addition to park admission.  Minimum height of 36 inches is required to ride.   Tickets can be purchased at the park admission gate or at Gator Joe’s Adventure Outpost.

Take A Sneak Peek Inside of ICE! At The Gaylord Palms

Disclosure: I was invited by the Gaylord Palms Resort to preview ICE!, but all opinions are my own.

2017 ICE at the Gaylord Palms Preview Image

ICE! at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee has become a staple of the holiday season of events in Orlando, and this year they are celebrating their 15th Season with ‘Christmas Around the World’ with more entertainment and holiday activities than ever.

“We’re excited to offer this theme in Central Florida, a destination welcoming millions from around the world every year,” said Johann Krieger, General Manager for Gaylord Palms Resort. “This year’s ICE! theme also inspired our creative team to add new activities and live shows that celebrate cultures and highlight diversity during this special time of year.”

The festivities begin on November 21st, and I had the opportunity to step into the tent to see how the work was progressing.

The artisans from Harbin, China, home of the world’s largest ice and snow sculpture festival, travel more than 6,000 miles to hand-carve more than two million pounds of colorful ice into larger-than-life sculptures.

httpv://youtu.be/FKLGAb6TQ3U

The ‘Christmas Around the World’ theme for ICE! celebrates the world’s diverse holiday traditions, representing United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany and more. So when guests enter the nine-degree attraction this year, they will discover holiday scenes from various nations and two-story ice slides surrounded by sculptures and international tidings, all before ending with a trip to the North Pole to experience Santa’s toy workshop. The ICE! experience ends with the Frostbite Factory live ice carving showcase and the traditional Nativity created with crystal clear ice.

It was amazing to see them at work and to see the attraction take shape!

I’ll be bringing you more from ICE! at the Gaylord Palms Resort next week, and you can find additional information and to book packages or tickets by visiting ChristmasAtGaylordPalms.com.

The Alfond Inn At Rollins Hosts Tesla Test Drive Event

Have you ever wanted to test drive a Tesla? (I know I have!)  Well this weekend you can get your chance as The Alfond Inn at Rollins in Winter Park hosts an exclusive Tesla Test Drive Event.

The Alfond Inn at Rollins Winter Park Tesla Test Drive Event June 2 2017

The Alfond Inn at Rollins in Winter Park will be connecting itself to the growing Destination Charging Network of Tesla, celebrating  the advent of sustainable energy with an exclusive test drive event featuring the award-winning Model S and Model X vehicles from the recognized American Electric Vehicles company.

The event will be on Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The specialized vehicles will be parked at the hotel for viewing and test drives, with tours also of The Alfond Inn’s featured charging location.

Tesla’s electric battery vehicles are gasoline independent, emit no pollution and have a range of up to 265 miles.  The Tesla Model X is the safest, quickest, most capable sport utility vehicle in history while the Model S, Tesla’s flagship premium sedan, is the most exhilarating car on the road, capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in as little as 2.5 seconds.

Alfond Inn hotel guest Jonathan Eisenberg drives his Tesla vehicle from Boca Raton, Fla. to Winter Park for work each month.  “I’ve been doing this for the last 6 months, soon after the delivery of my car.  It’s a huge bonus that the hotel is close to my company’s Winter Park office and has a charging station which enables me to drive rather than fly,” Eisenberg explained.  “And I don’t have to rent a regular car which would be a lot more expensive.  The hotel is amazing and I would only stay at a hotel with a charging station.”

The Tesla team will be on hand at The Alfond Inn June 2, 3, and 4 to answer any questions and schedule test drives.

For more Tesla information, contact Tesla Orlando by calling (407) 998-2060, and for more information on The Alfond Inn, go to www.thealfondinn.com.

iFLY Orlando Reopening With VIP Party This Summer

As one of Orlando’s most popular non-theme park attractions for nearly two decades, iFLY Orlando Indoor Skydiving announces the opening of a brand new, state-of-the-art facility featuring dual wind tunnels.

And to celebrate iFLY Orlando will host a unique simultaneous closing ceremony and VIP opening party at the new location on Tuesday, June 13th, 2017.
iFLY Orlando Rendering May 2017

Two all-glass flight chambers will stand side-by-side in the sleek, ultra-modern facility, ready to deliver the dream of flight to double the number of flyers each year. The tunnels are part of a building design with amenities to easily handle groups and parties of 150 or more.  iFLY also offers Science, Technology and Math (S.T.E.M) field trips along with other programs for kids.  The new facility will feature an open singlestory floorplan that will allow passersby easy viewing of the flight experience.

“We are making this significant investment in Orlando because it’s where iFLY started and where we continue to have an enormous and loyal fan base,” said Matt Ryan, iFLY President& COO. “Our goal is to deliver the dream of flight to everyone and by relocating to a new, expansive location we will be able to deliver this dream to even more people in the future.

The new facility, in close proximity to the Orange County Convention Center, will replace the original wind tunnel located on the south side of I-Drive, and the current wind tunnel located on the south side of I-Drive has been relocated to this new site at 8969 International Drive, next to WonderWorks, and is now open.

To prepare for their flight experience, customers complete a training class guided by one of iFLY’s flight and safety instructors. They then are equipped with flight gear, including goggles, helmet and flight suit, and enter the flight chamber by leaning forward into a smooth cushion of air, with a flight instructor at their side.

All flight packages include training, flight gear, and flight time with an International Bodyflight Association (IBA) certified instructor. The IBA established the gold standard for training and safety standards for indoor skydiving instructors. All iFLYinstructors meet or exceed IBA standards.

“Our new location is right in the middle of the exciting I-Drivecorridor and much more accessible to visitors in the area,” Matt Ryan said. “Our decision to relocate on I-Drive is indicative ofthe excitement we have about the Orlando tourism market and economic development in the area.”

About the NEW iFLY Orlando:  iFLY’s new Orlando facility is the company’s first to feature two recirculating vertical wind tunnels in the same facility. The two wind tunnels  sit side-by-side in the facility and each features a 12-foot diameter flight chamber with wind flow powered by two quiet and clean running electric motors. All instructors at iFLY Orlando are IBAcertified as the best-trained and safest instructors in the sport of indoor skydiving.
