Amway Center to Open as an Early Voting Location

Amway Center Early Voting Center 2020

The City of Orlando and the Orlando Magic joined the NBA, its players, and coaches in efforts to increase access to voting and have announced the Amway Center will open as an early voting location.

This is a collaborative effort between the City of Orlando, Orlando Magic, Orange County, and Orange County Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles. Early voting at Amway Center will run October 19 – November 1, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on the north side of Amway Center at the Church Street entrance inside the Disney Atrium.

“As a community, it is so important that we work together to ensure that every eligible voter is able to have their voice heard by making voting accessible and safe,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “The City of Orlando is proud to partner with the Orlando Magic and the Orange County Supervisor of Elections to transform our Amway Center into an early voting site.”

All registered voters from Orange County may cast their ballot at the Amway Center location, which is one of 20 early voting locations within Orange County.

Drive-up ballot boxes will also be available along Church Street in front of the arena for those who prefer to hand-deliver their vote-by-mail ballot.

Additionally, on National Voter Registration Day, September 22, Amway Center will be open for voter registration which will also take place inside the Disney Atrium from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The deadline to register to vote is October 5 and people can visit for more information.

“In these unprecedented times, we’re grateful for the opportunity to utilize Amway Center as an early voting location,” said Orlando Venues Chief Venues Officer Allen Johnson. “It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to serve the community for this important purpose.”

The NBA recently announced that its teams, players and coaches immediately established a social justice coalition, with representatives from players, coaches, and team governors. The coalition will focus on a broad range of issues, including increasing access to voting, promoting civic engagement and advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform

ORLANDO, Fla. – NOVEMBER 9, 2012 – With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey is again collecting food to help stock Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida (SHFBCF)’s pantry shelves. During this difficult economy and as the holidays approach, the agency’s need for food donations continues to increase.

For one day only, Thursday, November 15 between 7-9 a.m., Ringling Bros. is again offering Central Florida consumers the opportunity to support their community and donate non-perishable, unexpired food items in exchange for ticket vouchers to Built To Amaze!, the all-new 143rd Edition of The Greatest Show On Earth®. A donation of 10 food items entitles each consumer to one ticket voucher, with a limit of four vouchers (40 food items donated) per household. Vouchers can be redeemed at the Amway Center box office for the Thursday, January 10, 7:30 p.m. opening night performance. Ticket vouchers are available to those who donate on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. Free ticket vouchers apply to opening night, promenade level only.

Ringling Bros. and SHFBCF are making it easy with drive-through service! No need to find a parking space or carry heavy grocery bags – consumers can even stay in their PJ’s! They can simply drive to the Blue Lot at the Amway Center (located off Hughey Ave, parallel to I-4, just past Hughey and Church), stay in their cars, and volunteers will meet them and exchange ticket vouchers for donations, right through car windows.

Consumers can return to the Amway Center box office between Nov. 16 (when tickets go on sale to the general public) and January 12 to redeem vouchers for tickets. The Amway Center box office is located on Church Street. Short-term (15 minutes) parking is available in front of the box office on Church Street except during events. The Amway Center box office does not take ticket orders over the phone. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and three (3) hours prior to any event.

Ringling Bros. has raised more than 10,000 pounds of food for SHFBCF since 2009. Hundreds of Central Floridians have participated — from dads in gym shorts to moms in PJs to young professionals on their way to work. “This format works very well for us to collect a significant amount of donations in just two hours,” said Sasha Hausman, development manager for SHFBCF. “We are again encouraging members of our community to participate, and grateful to Feld Entertainment for their partnership.”

SHFBCF secures and distributes food and grocery products to approximately 500 agencies that feed the hungry throughout Central Florida. SHFBCF accepts nonperishable food donations including boxed cereal, stuffing, canned meat, fruit, cranberry sauce, gravy and vegetables. The agency’s most needed items include nonfat dry milk, peanut butter, baby food, and canned tuna, meat, vegetables and fruit.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® is proud to present Built To Amaze! at Amway Center January 10-13. Drama, surprise and wonder build the excitement so BIG that it could only be The Greatest Show On Earth®. Tickets for Thursday and Friday performances are: $85 (Circus Celebrity), $65 (Front Row), $35 (VIP), $27, $22 and $15. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday performances are: $100 (Circus Celebrity), $70 (Front Row), $40 (VIP), $27, $22 and $15. Ticketmaster service charges and facility fees not included. All seats are reserved, and tickets go on sale November 16 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are available at or, at any Ticketmaster outlet, by calling 800-745-3000, or at the Amway Center box office (phone: 407-440-7900). For group ticket sales and information, call 866-248-8740.

About Amway Center

The Orlando Magic served as the developer of the Amway Center, which hosts major national events, concerts and family shows. Opened in the fall of 2010, the facility is owned and operated by the City of Orlando on behalf of the Central Florida community. The Amway Center was designed to reflect the character of the community, meet the goals of the users and build on the legacy of sports and entertainment in Orlando. The building’s exterior features a modern blend of glass and metal materials, along with ever-changing graphics via a monumental wall along one facade. A 180-foot tall tower serves as a beacon amid the downtown skyline. At 875,000 square feet, the new arena is almost triple the size of the old Amway Arena (367,000 square feet). The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified building features a sustainable, environmentally-friendly design and unmatched technology, featuring 1,100 digital monitors, the tallest high-definition video board in an NBA venue and multiple premium amenities available to all patrons in the building. Awarded 2012 Sports Facility of the Year by Sports Business Journal. For more information about the Amway Center, visit,Follow us for more updates: Facebooktwitteryoutubetumblrinstagram

Join Us On The Amway Center Fan Tour!

As most people know I am a Twitter fiend, says the girl with 103,880 tweets! Twitter is my drug of choice! I am forever tweeting about lots of things that usually aren’t important but a lot of time those silly things have paid off!

The Amway Center here in Orlando is home to the Orlando Magic, The Orlando Predators and my person favorite the Orlando Solar Bears. They are a huge concert and sporting venue. Beautiful new facility that replaced the old Amway Arena a few years ago. They were running a Twitter and Facebook ReTweet/RePost contest for all their followers for a chance at a behind the scenes tour of the facility! Well, I was one of the lucky ten winners!!! So this past Wednesday me and my favorite +1  Shelley Caran took a trip to see this beautiful facility!

Do you see that 46 foot Jumbo tron???? Yeah Buddy! It is the Biggest in the USA!!!! We learned so much about the facility and what goes into making it from a basketball court, to a hockey arena, into a concert venue and into a Circus Tent!!!! We also learned that the Amway Center is the FIRST NBA facility to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design new construction certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The arena uses 20% less energy and 40% less water than arenas of similar size.

Amway Center “green” features include:

  • Preferred parking for hybrids and other energy-efficient vehicles
  • High-efficiency heating and cooling systems
  • Ultra-low-flow toilets
  • A reflective and insulated roof that reduces cooling costs
  • High-tech monitoring systems that shut off the lights when a room is empty
  • Bicycle racks, showers and changing rooms for workers who bike to work
  • Systems to treat storm runoff before it can pollute nearby lakes
  • Recycling bins for fans and concertgoers
  • Additionally, many of the points toward LEED certification for the Amway Center were earned during construction. For example, of the facility’s building materials, 15 percent are recycled and 20 percent come from local sources. About 83 percent of the wood, concrete and steel construction waste has been recycled rather than sent to a landfill.
This is ONE beautiful facility! They took us on a tour of everything, we got to meet Stuff (Orlando Magic Mascot) and Shades (Orlando Hockey Mascot), we got treated to an amazing dessert spread and they even did a few giveaways and of course, me being Princess Luck won a Orlando Magic Jersey! We also got a swag bag at the end that included tickets to an Orlando Predators game and an Orlando Predators shirt to wear! They treated us like royalty! Big Huge Shout out to Jen at the Amway Center who was the young lady who set up our tour and is the face behind their twitter account! I can not wait to go to a Preds game and I am SO SO SO SO SO SO SO Excited for the upcoming Hockey Season! See you all on the glass!!
