ORLANDO, FLORIDA [April 26, 2013] – SBS Entertainment (SBSE), the division of concerts and events of (SBS) Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc., is pleased to announce Carlos Vives Como Le Gusta a Mi Pueblo tour.  After an absence of almost eight years, Vives launches his tour on July 6, including eight North American cities and the Caribbean.  Vives performs at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida on July 12.  Tickets go on sale Tuesday, April 30 at 10 a.m.

With more than 14 million albums sold and 18 Grammy® and Latin Grammy® nominations, Vives was the first Colombian to win a gramophone from the American Recording Academy.   Since returning to the studio in 2012, Vives topped the Billboard charts at number one with his two singles Volví a Nacer” and “Como Le Gusta a Tu Cuerpo.”

“It’s an honor for SBS Entertainment to present Carlos Vives’ tour, the iconic Colombian artist that achieved international recognition with Colombian music and the “Vallenato” (traditional genre). In honor of his mother country, Colombia, Vives will perform his concerts during July, the month of Columbian Independence,” affirmed Lucas Piña, Senior Vice President of SBS Entertainment.

Vives has been involved in the arts for more than three decades, studying at the National School of Dramatic Art and playing various roles at the Candelaria Theater, Colombia’s first independent theater.  In 1984, he graduated with a post-graduate degree in communications and television production.

In 1993, Vives released his album “Clásicos de la Provincia” in which he fused Vallenato with rock, pop and other Caribbean and Colombian ethnic rhythms.  The style of Vallenato has been a huge success in Colombia and many other Latin countries.  “Clásicos de la Provincia” won the Billboard Latin Music award for Best Album.  His follow-up album, “La Tierra del Olvido” further showcased his desire to fuse rock, funk and pop with traditional Colombian genres. His subsequent releases, “Tengo Fe” (1997), “El Amor de Mi Tierra” (1999), “Déjame Entrar” (2001) and “El Rock de Mi Pueblo” (2004), were all commercially successful and well received by critics. In 2002, Vives won his first Latin Grammy® with “Déjame Entrar” for Best ContemporaryTropical Latin Album.  He earned another Latin Grammy® for Best Contemporary Tropical Latin Album with “El Rock de mi Pueblo.”  In 2009, his album “Pombo Musical” awarded him his fourth Latin Grammy® for Best Latin Children’s Album.
