CityWalk was really the ‘Epicenter of Awesome’ this week as they opened with limited operations.
It was so great to once again see people roaming CityWalk, but I will caution you that I expect the area to be busy this weekend so there a few things you can do to cut down on your waits!
Download the Official Universal Orlando Resort App – Be ready to make those Cashless purchases and make sure to link your Universal Orlando Resort Pass for discounts!
Plan to arrive early: They are limiting the number of guests they are allowing in the CityWalk area, and there can be a back up at the parking plaza as self-parking is free.
Be prepared – Have that mask on and ready as you approach the temperature check so security can pass you as quickly as possible.
Be patient – Mind those 6ft social distancing markers on the ground, relax, and make sure to enjoy your time once again at Universal’s CityWalk!!!
CityWalk at the Universal Orlando Resort is open daily from 4-10 pm, but please remember that the theme parks and resorts are still currently closed.

Dr. Phillips Center has announced that the previously scheduled performance of the FAIRWINDS Broadway in Orlando engagement of To Kill a Mockingbird, scheduled for Dr. Phillips Center will be postponed. The highly anticipated Orlando run will be part of the 21/22 season.
In addition, The Cher Show, originally scheduled for June 15 – 20, 2021 will not come to the Dr. Phillips Center as part of the 20/21 Broadway season. The show has postponed its national tour with new dates to be announced.

A phased reopening of Disney Springs will begin on May 20. Following the guidance of government and health officials, a limited number of shopping and dining experiences that are owned by third-party operating participants will begin to open during this initial phase. The rest of Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed, including theme parks and resort hotels.
As we continue to monitor conditions, and with the health of guests and Disney cast members at the forefront of our planning, we are making several operational changes. Disney Springs will begin to reopen in a way that incorporates enhanced safety measures, including increased cleaning procedures, the use of appropriate face coverings by both cast members and guests, limited-contact guest services and additional safety training for cast members.
While the announcement wasn’t full of details, there were 5 key takeaways to note.

So when it initially reopens, Disney Springs guests will not be able to shop at stores or dine at locations operated by Walt Disney World.
While not listed in this announcement, examples of these Walt Disney World operated locations include stores like World of Disney and the Co Op as well as dining locations like Jock Lindsey’s and D-Luxe Burger.
2. What we know about planning your trip to Disney Springs in the initial reopening phase…
When you think about planning your trip to Disney Springs in this phase, it is important to note that there will be limitations on capacity, parking, and operating hours.

While no specifics were given in this initial announcement about any of these three important details, it will be important to watch for these details to make planning easier.
3. What will be different when Disney Springs begins reopening…
Disney Springs did note in their announcement that they would be making several operational changes that would include enhanced safety measures including increased cleaning procedures, limited-contact Guest Services, and additional safety training for Cast Members

We will apply learnings and ideas from leaders in the health and travel industries, and we’re also talking to our unions as we prepare for some Cast Members to return to work.
Safety is ALWAYS at the forefront of operations at the Walt Disney World Resort, and I am beyond confident that they are going above and beyond to ensure the safety of guests and Cast Members.
4. What will guests need to have to visit Disney Springs…
Included in the many safety measures that Disney Springs is taking is, “…the use of appropriate face coverings by both Cast Members and Guests…”

This isn’t meant to spark debate…just know that you will need to wear a face covering to visit Disney Springs in this phase of reopening.

Country Thunder Music Festivals has had to make the difficult decision to postpone its first event of the 2020 season due to the uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The final decision came down following Friday afternoon’s announcement from Osceola County officials which bans mass gatherings of over 250 people. The guidelines mirror those of neighboring Orange County, as well as the city of Orlando.
“We look forward to the rescheduled dates in Florida and getting back to see some of the greatest country fans in America,” says Country Thunder CEO, Troy Vollhoffer. “We have always strived for excellence when it comes to the fan experience. But there has always been an acute awareness that a great music festival begins with fan safety, and the comfort of patrons who attend our events
“We felt that pushing our dates to the fall gives us the best opportunity in making Country Thunder Florida the world-class event which fans have come to expect. Luckily for us, our artists were more than happy to oblige the schedule changes.”
Originally scheduled from March 27-29, Country Thunder Florida 2020 will now take place from October 16-18, again at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee. Headliners Eric Church, Kane Brown and Dierks Bentley have all been re-confirmed for the new dates.
All ticketing and camping options will be honored for the rescheduled dates.
Golfing is a great way to spend time outdoors while social distancing, and Walt Disney World Golf, operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, is offering players the chance to experience their four fantastic courses.

Disney’s Palm Golf Course, rated 4 stars by Golf Digest, is an 18-hole championship course that is visually stunning and challenging with 59 bunkers and 9 holes with water hazards.
Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course

Designed in classic Tour style, Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course is the longest of the Walt Disney World Resort golf courses with elevated tees, spacious greens, and wide fairways with 97 bunkers and 11 holes with water hazards.
Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, conceived by Joe Lee, is an 18-hole classic, country-club style course that has hosted the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and USGA events.
Due to the current closure of Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, players must have a confirmed tee time reservation before entering the property.
Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Club

Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course is a family-friendly, 9-hole walking course with rolling greens and exciting challenges.

If you are looking for a different spin on the game, you can also take on its 9-Hole FootGolf course that is certified by the American FootGolf League (AFGL), the governing body for the sport of FootGolf in the United States.
FootGolf combines the game of soccer with shortened length golf holes, where the fewest kicks wins the hole.
When you are ready to take your swing, players will notice that significant measures to help ensure the well-being of all who visit and work at Walt Disney World Golf have been implemented.
Most notably, the new “Park and Play” procedure allows players to make an online tee time reservation and pre-pay online. Upon arrival, each player will have a designated sanitized golf cart waiting to take them to the first tee.
Other measures to be aware of include:
Tee time intervals have been adjusted to help aid in social distancing.
Club drop off is not being offered, but the staff will be available if special assistance is required.
Rentals of clubs and shoes are not available.
Tees, pencils, and scorecards can be requested.
The courses no longer have bunker rakes, water coolers, and ball washers.
Flagsticks should not be removed, and raised cups are in use on the greens to make ball retrieval easier.
The Pro Shop is open with special social distancing and sanitizing procedures.
On course food and beverage carts are not in use, however, Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Deli (Magnolia, Palm, and Oak Trail) and Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe (Lake Buena Vista) are available during play without seating for guests.
All transactions must be completed with chip only credit cards.
All facilities have hand sanitizers.

2. The Final Episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars

I don’t know about your house, but my house is excited for the final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, “Victory and Death.”
Created by George Lucas and shepherded by Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian), the animated series first aired in 2008 and became an entry point into Star Wars for an entire generation, following fan-favorites like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padmé Amidala, while introducing major new characters like Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. Star Wars: The Clone Wars became a multiple-Emmy Award winner and a favorite among Star Wars fans.
The final season features Ahsoka Tano and Rex on their adventures that lead up to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

This week there is going to be a concept art takeover on Disney+ featuring each Star Wars film’s and series’ artwork.
From Star Wars: A New Hope to The Mandalorian, the updated art will feature pieces from celebrated artists such as the legendary Ralph McQuarrie and Academy Award-winning artist, author, and production designer, Doug Chiang. On the Disney+ home screen, the animated Star Wars brand tile, viewable on web and connected TV devices, gets upgraded with a new animation that honors the signature hyperspace jump.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Apollo 13 Mission with Virtual Watch Party
This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 13 mission – made famous for its “successful failure” by the 1995 film named for the mission, starring Tom Hanks, Kathleen Quinlan, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation want the country to come together for a virtual celebration of these brave men and their families.

The real men behind the Apollo 13 mission are astronauts James (Jim) Lovell Jr. (Commander), Fred Haise (Lunar Module Pilot) and John (Jack) Swigert Jr. (Command Module Pilot). The crew launched via a Saturn V rocket at 2:13 p.m. on April 11, 1970 from the iconic Launchpad 39A at Kennedy Space Center. Though the mission of reaching the moon, and conducting moon walks was not realized, the mission was successful in its safe return of the crew and learnings applied to future missions.
“The Apollo 13 mission has been an inspiration to generations of space explorers – and continues to inspire future space explorers today,” said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. “The crew’s story of resourcefulness and perseverance in a time of distress is especially meaningful today as we deal with this global pandemic.”

Just a few days after he performed his most daring stunt yet, walking over an active volcano, live on ABC, world-renown daredevil Nik Wallenda announced this morning that his next major event will be at LEGOLAND Florida Resort to mark the opening of the all-new Pirate Island Hotel.
In true pirate-fashion, Wallenda will “walk the plank” from inside the theme park to the new hotel to kick off the resort’s opening festivities on Thursday, April 16. LEGOLAND Florida Resort park and hotel guests are invited to take part in the fun and watch the nail-biting stunt safely from the ground.
This event will be no “walk in the park” for the Wallenda Team as they will construct a high wire longer than 500 feet for the walk. They will also work closely with LEGOLAND master model builders to craft LEGO bricks onto Wallenda’s 28-foot balance pole.
LEGOLAND and Nik Wallenda fans alike can stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram as the park releases additional details on how to watch the stunt unfold live on Thursday, April 16.

Located just 130 kid-steps from the theme park entrance, LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel will feature 150 LEGO-filled rooms (including four suites), a heated pool (complete with LEGO soft bricks to build in the pool), hundreds of LEGO models, exclusive character experiences and in-room LEGO treasure hunts. Similar to the popular LEGOLAND Hotel, each room will include two separate spaces: a kid’s sleeping area and an adult area.

The five-story hotel will house the pirate-themed Shipwreck Restaurant with family-style dining, Smuggler’s Bar for adult swashbucklers, an entertainment area with kid-friendly nightly programming and LEGO play areas. Directly outside the entrance to the hotel, a pirate shipwreck will greet guests and offer a unique photo opportunity.

“Delusions of Space Enthusiasts”
In this illustrated talk, Neil deGrasse Tyson will explore the perennial mismatch between collective expectations of where we should be in space by now and the geopolitical, cultural, and economic realities that limit it.
One of the most innovative comedians around, Elizardi Castro uses language and culture to create humor that appeals to audiences of all ages. He has written and performed eight one man shows including “Made in Puerto Rico” and most recently, “Words Cannot Explain”.
His one man show “Made in Puerto Rico” made its Off-Broadway debut in 2019 and ran for seven weeks, selling out thirty two shows! His critically acclaimed shows have been reviewed and recommended by numerous publications including the Chicago Sun-Times and the Orlando Sentinel.
His shows have also been featured on ABC’s The View; Telemundo’s Emmy-winning morning show, Un Nuevo Dia; Fox’s Good Day New York, WGN-TV, and the Univision network, among others. He recently won “Best Stand Up” at the acclaimed United Solo Festival in NYC.
Vizier Jafar dreams of obtaining the Magic Lamp. Jafar makes a plan on how to brutally take over the throne. Jasmine and Aladdin are reunited at the Palace. Jafar is furious and orders Aladdin to be cast into the abyss. The Genie comes to Aladdin’s aid and they escape together after trapping Jafar in the Magic Lamp forever. Jasmine and Aladdin are finally able to be together.
Russian Ballet Alafaya/Ballet Fedotov presents original choreography by Vadim Fedotov with original music by David Goldstein “Aladdin”. Based on the Arabian tale “One thousand and one nights”.Special guest artists, Principal Ballet dancers from Ukraine and Japan.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater grew from a now-fabled performance in March 1958 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Led by Alvin Ailey and a group of young African-American modern dancers, that performance changed forever the perception of American dance.
The Ailey company has gone on to perform for an estimated 25 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents – as well as millions more through television broadcasts, film screenings, and online platforms.
Today, the Company continues Mr. Ailey’s mission by presenting important works of the past and commissioning new ones. In all, more than 235 works by over 90 choreographers have been part of the Ailey company’s repertory.
The legendary artist, fresh off her star turn on The Masked Singer, makes her debut at the Dr. Phillips Center.

From their debut in 2011 to the present day, IL VOLO has performed over 300 concerts in 210 cities on 3 continents, mostly sold out.
The new album, 10 Years – The Best of, offers all the best of Il Volo’s repertoire, from “O Sole Mio” to “My Way” to “Grande Amore.” The tracklist is comprised both by songs recorded in the studio and by new live recordings such as the June show in Matera, Italy which was filmed and will be broadcast later this year.
Il Volo: Ten Years will make its premiere on PBS stations nationwide beginning November 30.
America’s favorite dance show is going back on tour this winter with “Dancing with the Stars – Live Tour 2020.” Kate Flannery will be joining the show to wow live audiences across the country by performing fan-favorite routines from this past season.
The all-new production will feature fan-favorite professional dancers wowing audiences with every type of dance style as seen on ABC’s hit show Dancing with the Stars. The show continues its legacy of performing showstopping routines alongside new numbers choreographed just for the live show ranging from the time-honored dances of the Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Salsa, Tango – and everything in between. In the longest and most expansive North American tour to date, audiences will have the opportunity to experience the excitement, glamour and glitz they see in the ballroom every Monday night live in their hometowns.
