Some of you may have heard of this cute little astromech droid named BB-8 from this little indie flick called Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. I have fallen in love with BB-8 and thought I’d share some of my favorite merchandise gems I’ve found featuring this adorable new droid.
We’ve all seen the Sphero BB-8, which looks amazing by the way. There are tons of the usual merchandise offerings like pins, shirts, hats, backpacks, phone cases, MagicBands, etc. for sale in the Disney Parks and all over the internet. I’m going to share some of the more unique items I’ve come across online in particular, but not in any specific order.

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club didn’t have to look far for inspiration for its 2016 Gold Member gift, “From the Office of Walt Disney.” To celebrate the restoration of Walt Disney’s office suite on the Studios’ Burbank lot, the Walt Disney Archives worked with D23 to meticulously reproduce 23 unique pieces from Walt’s career that trace his path from America’s heartland to the world stage.
Included in the assortment are items from Walt’s early years in business such as his 1923 Laugh-O-gram Films Inc. business card and the famous 1928 “Everything OK” telegram, which Walt cryptically wired his brother Roy when he lost the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Also in the collection are the 1955 Disneyland invitational press preview pass and Walt’s notes on pages from the “EPCOT Film” script from 1966. Pieces representing animation, live action, television, and theme parks—as well as Walt’s own personal life—make up this one-of-a-kind set.
The gift comes in a “book” designed specifically to hold all the items and will be sent to all D23 Gold and Gold Family Members who join or renew from January 1 through December 31, 2016. For our final post of 2015, I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite memories from the year!
On the Go in MCO wouldn’t be what it is without the amazing group of ladies and gents that are with me on this amazing journey! I can’t thank them enough for all of their love, support, and constant dedication to making the site what it is today! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and while we may be looking back today I am looking forward to a 2016 that’s even better!
So enough super sappy stuff…let’s get on to looking back to the fun that 2015 was for all of us On the Go!
One of my favorite memories of 2015 in the parks was my August trip to Disneyland for D23 Expo and the 60th Diamond Celebration. The best moment was enjoying the awesome new Paint the Night Parade with my best friend as we both stood there in awe.
After a lot of debating with myself, I decided to pick west coast/east coast versions of my favorite parks memory over the past year. I know, it’s kind of cheating, but when a year includes a trip to Disneyland you just can’t really compare it to anything else.
West Coast: This was the year that I finally earned my coast to coast medal. It’s been my goal since I started running and the fact that we chose the year that Disneyland would be celebrating their 60th Anniversary was just perfection.
East Coast: Each year we celebrate my niece’s birthday at the Magic Kingdom. It’s been so fun watching her experiences change as she gets older. Even though she’s almost a teenager now, she still wants to get pixie dusted and turns back into a little girl when a Disney princess speaks to her during the parade. I know that’s a memory that she’ll have forever.
My 2015 favorite memories included running the Super Heroes 5K during the runDisney Avengers Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland, the last year of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights with Todd, and watching Captain EO for the last time.
My favorite moment in the parks this year was being able to have this amazing family reunion at Magic Kingdom! With family from Panama and England all coming together for the first time ever in a Disney park, then photopass caught this amazing moment! Right as the fireworks were ending we got this amazing keepsake photo that I will cherish forever! It meant so much to me to all be there but this photo was the icing on the cake! Disney is all about making memories and family and friendships, and this photo made me so happy and is my favorite 2015 parks memory!!!

The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic “The BFG” to life. Directed by Spielberg, Disney’s “The BFG” tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.

“I think it was kind of genius of Roald Dahl to be able to empower the children. It was very, very brave of him to introduce that combination of darkness and light which was so much Disney’s original signature in a lot of their earlier works like in ‘Dumbo,’ ‘Fantasia,’ ‘Snow White’ and ‘Cinderella,’ and being able to do scary, but also be redemptive at the same time and teach a lesson, an enduring lesson, to everyone, it was a wonderful thing for Dahl to have done, and it was one of the things that attracted me to want to direct this Dahl book,” says Spielberg.
The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming, and, having never met a giant before, has many questions. The BFG brings Sophie to Dream Country where he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching her all about the magic and mystery of dreams.

Having both been on their own in the world up until now, their affection for one another quickly grows. But Sophie’s presence in Giant Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome. Says Spielberg, “It’s a story about friendship, it’s a story about loyalty and protecting your friends and it’s a story that shows that even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems.” Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London to see the Queen (Penelope Wilton) and warn her of the precarious giant situation, but they must first convince the Queen and her maid, Mary (Rebecca Hall), that giants do indeed exist. Together, they come up with a plan to get rid of the giants once and for all.

Roald Dahl’s “The BFG” (Big Friendly Giant) was first published in 1982 and has been enchanting readers of all ages ever since. Dahl’s books, which also include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “James and the Giant Peach” and “Matilda,” are currently available in 58 languages and have sold over 200 million copies worldwide. Originally created as a bedtime story, “The BFG” was Dahl’s own favorite of all his stories. “It was very important for us to be loyal to the language,” says Spielberg, “and the great writer Melissa Mathison, who also wrote ‘E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial,’ wrote “The BFG.”
“The BFG” opens in U.S. theaters on July 1, 2016, the year that marks the 100th anniversary of Dahl’s birth.
AMC Sensory Friendly Films – Star Wars #TheForceAwakens
AMC has partnered with the Autism Society to create movie showings for guests and family living with Autism or other special needs where ‘you can feel free to be you’ with their AMC Sensory Friendly Films Program.
During these showings the lights will be turned up while the sound will be turned down, so you can feel free to get up and move about the theater.
Due to the overwhelming response, AMC has expanded the Sensory Friendly Film Program to four showings per month.
The second and fourth Tuesday and Saturday.
Family-friendly movies will continue to show Saturdays, starting at 10am local time
We’ve added Tuesday showings at 7pm local time that may appeal to others on the autism spectrum.
The next film to be featured in this program is Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
And what is even more amazing, is that several AMC theaters in the Orlando area are participating in the Sensory Friendly Film Program!

Artegon Marketplace Celebrates First Anniversary With #AntiOrdinary Events

Sample and savor more than 10 styles of Florida craft beers (while supplies last). The first 150 guests in attendance will enjoy their brewskis from a commemorative Artegon-embossed glass mug. The grand finale of Artegon’s Anti-Ordinary Anniversary Week Spectacular is Artegon’s Festival of Music, including all-time favorites and up-and-coming recording artists and entertainers. The entire community is invited to experience the stylings of the following recording superstars and entertainers at this free concert. The celebration kicks off at 11 a.m. with local entertainers, followed by a DJ getting everyone into the groove at 4 p.m. and headliners at 5 p.m. Sample from a variety of food trucks presented by Food Truck Crazy. JUDY TORRES
Judy Torres is known as “The Queen of Freestyle.” She scored club hits with songs such as Please Stay Tonight, Come into My Arms, Love Story, I Love You, Will You Love Me, No Reason to Cry, and chart- topping remake of Journey’s Faithfully. Torres has performed non-stop to sold out crowds since the release of her first single in 1987. In 1998, Torres joined iHeart Radio’s 103.5 FM KTU in New York as an on-air personality.
AARON CARTER
Aaron Carter came to fame very early in life at the age of seven and released his first self-titled debut album at the age of 10. He was one the biggest teenage heart throbs in the late 1990’s and in the early 2000’s. Carter’s second album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) put him on the map, selling 1.5 million copies. He is set to release new music in early 2016. In addition, Carter has recently starred in the Broadway classic Fantasticks, and competed on Dancing with the Stars.
BEFORE YOU EXIT (BYE)
This Orlando-based band consists of three brothers: Connor, 21 (vocals/guitar); Riley, 19, (lead vocals); and Toby, 17, (vocals, guitar). They caught the attention of the legendary music manager Johnny Wright, who signed the group. Wright also manages Justin Timberlake and many others. BYE was named the winners of the Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star campaign, and performed at the 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. BYE has had three hit singles on the Radio Disney charts.
ROB BASE
Part of the hip hop duo with DJ E-Z Rock, Rob Base is most famous for his hit single It Takes two. This song was a Top 40 hit and became platinum, along with their album. They were also known for beingpioneers of the crossover success that rap music would have in the popular music mainstream.
JOEY FATONE (HOST)
Best known as a member of the legendary boyband N’SYNC, Joey Fatone’s current hosting gigs include the announcer on Family Feud; Food Network’s Rewrapped; and Live Well Network’s My Family Recipe Rocks. Joey is also guest host of the live version of The Price is Right in Las Vegas.
