Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts 2021

Today Walt Disney World announced that A Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts will take place from January 8 to February 22, 2021!

The Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts offers fun for the whole family, and here is a sketch of what you can expect when the event debuts in January:

You can’t celebrate what’s to come without looking back at how it all started!

The dining, shopping, and entertainment district Disney Springs was still called Downtown Disney in 2005 when the authentic Irish pub, owned and operated by Irish partners John Cooke and Paul Nolan, opened its doors offering a lively mix of authentic Irish entertainment, contemporary Irish cuisine, and a warm interior of aged walnut and mahogany woods from old Irish bars and churches was built in Ireland and shipped to Orlando.

Now situated at The Landing at Disney Springs and having garnered multiple dining and entertainment awards through the years, Raglan Road features daily choreographed Irish stage shows by talented bands and an award-winning step-dance troupe. A dining destination for travelers and locals, Raglan Road last month earned Orlando magazine’s 2020 Reader’s Choice first-place Dining Award for Best Live Music Entertainment. The pub’s popular annual Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival and its Labor Day weekend boutique Irish music festival, the Great Irish Hooley, have welcomed many thousands of festival-goers each year.

Initially featuring lunch, dinner, and late-night pub grub, Raglan Road in 2013 introduced its Rollicking Raglan Brunch on Sundays, eventually expanding to Saturdays, as well. The popular weekend brunch last month also earned an Orlando magazine Reader’s Choice 2^nd place Dining Award for Best Brunch.

A Traveler’s Choice award winner for consecutive years, Raglan Road in 2020 also earned the exclusive honor of placing in the top 10 percent of restaurants worldwide thanks to travelers’ reviews and ratings.

In addition to the pub’s modern Irish cuisine, the menu features a wide selection of craft beers and ales, hand-crafted cocktails, Irish coffee drinks, plus wine and bubbly, too. The Raglan Road children’s menu offers options for every young palate.

Raglan Road closed in mid-March due to pandemic-related restaurant shutdowns and reopened in June after incorporating a long list of safety measures throughout the restaurant. Guests can book socially-distanced tables for dinner and for the Rollicking Raglan Weekend Brunch. Drop-in guests may find distanced seating at one of the pub’s bars, in one of three dining rooms, or on the patio, but reservations are highly recommended.

Currently, Raglan Road also features live entertainment nightly including a suite of shows featuring Irish bands and dancers. Guests also can enjoy shows beginning at noon during the weekend Rollicking Raglan Brunch. Dinner is served from 4-11 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday Brunch is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The pub’s Shop for Ireland boutique is open daily and packed with everything from cookbooks and kitchen wares to a wide selection of apparel, jewelry, flat caps, ball caps, and foodstuffs. Cooke’s of Dublin, the Irish quick-service restaurant adjacent to the pub, offers traditional favorites like Dublin-style fish & chips, burgers, and savory pies to carry out, eat in or devour at an outside table from noon to 10 p.m.

Mennello Museum Hosts Votes for Women Exhibit

As the 100th year of the 19th amendment providing voting rights for women and the 59^th Presidential Election approaches, the Mennello Museum is hosting Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence.

The crusade for women’s suffrage is one of the longest reform movements in American history. Between 1832 and 1920, women citizens organized for the right to vote, agitating first in their states or territories and then, simultaneously, through petitioning for a federal amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery. This project received support from the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative.

The Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative, Because of Her Story, is one of the country’s most ambitious undertakings to research, collect, document, display, and share the compelling story of women. It will deepen our understanding of women’s contributions to the nation and the world. More information about the initiative is available at womenshistory.si.edu.

The poster exhibition addresses women’s political activism, explores the racism that challenged universal suffrage, and documents the ratification of the 19th Amendment which prohibits the government from denying U.S. citizens the right to vote on the basis of sex. It also touches upon the suffrage movement’s relevance to current conversations on voting and voting rights across America.

The in-person, free exhibition of posters is featured on the Mennello Museum’s front porch beginning now through election day, November 3.

Visit them during museum hours, Tuesdays – Sundays, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (weather permitting).

Then visitors can continue their stroll through history and meet voting-rights heroes, as our neighbors at the Orlando Repertory theater present Eric Coble’s “Vote?,” a fully-produced online play streamed directly to you, now through November 8. Stream Eric Coble’s “Vote?” here.

Festival of Trees Celebration Returns for the Holidays

The Festival of Trees is back for its 34th year at the Orlando Museum of Art to bring joy to Central Florida with advanced tickets available now.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 12-29, with the exception of Mondays and Thanksgiving Day.

During this time, the Orlando Museum of Art will be transformed into a holiday wonderland filled with stunning décor and holiday cheer. This year’s theme is “Joy to the World—Celebrating a Season of Joy,” selected by the Council of 101 to focus on adding a little joy during the holiday season.

But while the fun will be what Central Floridians have come to expect from the beloved event, the Council of 101 has scaled down the event this year and made some changes to ensure a safe a fun event for all.

Tickets will be managed through reserved admissions due to limited capacity. Advanced ticket purchases are strongly encouraged. Onsite visitors will be asked to strictly adhere to social distancing guidelines. For those who can’t make it out, organizers have enhanced the virtual experiences, offering online tours of the festival, virtual events, and even the opportunity to purchase a tree online.

“The Festival of Trees is a truly a favorite tradition here in Central Florida. It’s what really makes it feel like the holidays for so many people,” said Jill Toole, president of the Council of 101. “While some things will be different this year, we’re proud we could still bring the holiday spirit to our community, perhaps when we need it most.”

Onsite or online, guests can experience the decorated halls of the museum and enjoy more than 25 decked-out trees, exceptional gingerbread houses, pop up vendors, elegant Entertaining by Design table settings, performances by talented local entertainers, and special drawings throughout the event. Not to be missed are the Santa sightings on the weekend, and children can make their Christmas requests by writing letters.

The first weekend of the festival kicks off with Ugly Sweater Day on November 14, with dignitaries and special ambassador appearances anticipated for this fun-filled theme event.

The Council of 101 events, including the Festival of Trees, have raised over $12 million for the Orlando Museum of Art’s educational programs. Festival of Trees benefits lifelong learning programs at the Orlando Museum of Art. Reaching deep into the community, these programs support many people from different walks of life, age, and income groups.

Central Florida Zoo’s Zoo Boo Bash 2020

There are typically some pretty WILD sights at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, but this October, it’s going to be downright spooky during Zoo Boo Bash!

Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls of all kinds will gear up to celebrate Halloween safely at the fan-favorite Zoo Boo Bash, presented by Orlando Health.

This year, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on select dates, Oct. 17-18 and Oct. 24-25. Zoo Boo Bash is the perfect way for children and families to safely show off those Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat while enjoying the fun of the Zoo.

The Zoo will have plenty of not-so-scary decorations and activities, including trick-or-treat stations in a designated area to ensure social distancing. Costumes are encouraged for all guests and face masks or coverings are required for guests over the age of 13—an easy requirement for many costumes!

Dino Ferri, CEO of the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, said they are thrilled to be able to host the event this year.

“At Central Florida Zoo, we’ve always prided ourselves on creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for families,” Ferri said. “With the help of our ongoing partner Orlando Health, we have implemented necessary precautions to hold our wildly popular Halloween event while protecting the health and safety of our guests.”

There will be enhanced safety measures at this year’s event, including limited capacity and date-specific, timed entry. Timed tickets will also be required for trick-or-treating. Annual passholder blackout dates apply; however, tickets to the event are $5 per person named on the passcard.

“Zoo Boo Bash has become an annual tradition for so many families throughout Central Florida and we’re proud to be the presenting sponsor once again,” said Shawn Molsberger, president, Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital. “The pandemic has changed how we interact but we want our community to know there are ways to come together safely to have a little fun.”

Aloma Bowl Hosts Halloween Trunk or Treat

Put on your spookiest costume and head to Aloma Bowl this Halloween for an afternoon full of themed drinks for both big and little monsters, delicious food, contests and prizes. If you’re looking for a fun and safe way to kick off your trick-or-treating this year, Aloma Bowl is the place to be!

Aloma Bowl is hosting a trunk-or-treat on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1 to 3 p.m. Cars will be decked out with decorations, full of tasty treats and lined up for your trick-or-treating pleasure.

Trunk or Treat Car Show at The Promenade at Sunset Walk

The Promenade at Sunset Walk hosts hundreds of Classic to Modern Cars and Trucks from all eras, and on October 11th they’re hosting a Special Trunk or Treat Car Show.

During this special event, drivers are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and bring wrapped candy to hand out to all the little ghouls and goblins walking the streets of The Promenade.

Orlando Science Center Pompeii Exhibit Update

The Orlando Science Center announced today that Pompeii: The Immortal City will now premiere on October 26, 2020.

This blockbuster exhibition features over 100 authentic artifacts and experiences that will plunge visitors into the heart of the ancient city. Orlando Science Center is one of only three locations in the nation to host Pompeii: The Immortal City and is the last stop on its US tour, which concludes on January 24, 2021.

The exhibition’s stay in Orlando is funded in part by Orange County Government and its tourism partners through the Arts & Cultural Affairs Blockbuster Program. It was developed and produced by TEMPORA in collaboration with Civita and Filmmaster based on the scientific research of Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli and Museo Galileo Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza, Firenze and distributed by Exhibits Development Group.

“Pompeii is the perfect exhibit for these times,” said JoAnn Newman, President and CEO of Orlando Science Center. “The artifacts encourage quiet contemplation while timed entry limits capacity and offers people ample time, and distance, to examine displays and better understand the magnificence and ultimate tragedy of this remarkable place.”

Spectacular immersive moments will allow visitors to experience the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius and its destructive path through the city. In just 24 hours, Pompeii was buried, and perfectly preserved, by volcanic ash in 79 AD. Displays of artwork, jewelry, statues, architecture, multimedia experiences and recreations of mechanical devices, allow visitors to discover this first-century Roman town and its many technological achievements.

General admission tickets will be $26 for adults and $18 for youth (advance booking fees and parking fees apply) and include access to Pompeii: The Immortal City plus Orlando Science Center exhibits and experiences.

The 74-year tradition of Fireworks on the 4th of July will continue in 2020 in a different way due to the Corona Virus pandemic, with a “Salute to Salute July 4th, 2020”.

There will be a brief pyrotechnic display launched from a to be disclosed location at 10:00 PM Saturday July 4th. Many Area residents and visitors will be able to see – and hear – the Salute to Salute July 4th from their homes and backyards. St. Cloud area community members will be encouraged to look and listen from their doorsteps or backyard for the Salute to Salute July 4th at 10:00 pm Saturday July 4th.

The short pyrotechnic display will be launched from a to be announced location. Area residents will learn which direction to look shortly before 10:00 pm Saturday July 4th via area media outlets and St. Cloud Fireworks Social Media.

Due to current COVID-19 social distancing requirements, the City of Winter Park invites the community to enjoy a virtual presentation of its annual 4th of July Celebration. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s 43rd annual Fireworks at the Fountain will be held virtually this year. News 6 will present a pre-recorded compilation of the brightest and biggest fireworks from the past several years at Lake Eola.

Before the fireworks show, News 6 will honor our heroes in the community. The fireworks portion begins at 9.

The Orlando Crayola Experience has Reopened

The Orlando Crayola Experience at Florida Mall is once again welcoming guests to get creative!

The attraction has implemented several new protocols aligned with state and local requirements, guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, and industry recommendations that are designed to promote cleanliness, social distancing, and reduced physical contact.

Some key things that you will notice on your next visit to Orlando’s Crayola Experience include:

Limits to the number of guests in the attraction, theater show, and retail store.
Entry screenings and temperature checks on team members (employees) prior to entering the building for work each day and requiring those who don’t feel well to go home.
Required face coverings for team members while in public areas.
Enhanced and increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces – such as tabletops, countertops, stools, computer screens, doors, handrails, trash containers, water fountains, and restrooms throughout the attraction, café and retail store.

Additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the attraction.
Acrylic barriers around registers and guest relations.
Signage and ground markers in high-traffic areas to remind guests to maintain proper distancing when in line or navigating through the attraction and retail store.
Temporary modification to certain activities and food service areas to promote physical distancing and cleanliness.
All payments must now be made with cashless transactions. Self-service payment terminals at registers in both the attraction and retail store accept major credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay.
Touchless e-ticketing for general admission tickets purchased at a cashier or kiosk on site.
Extending annual pass and ticket expiration dates.
Offering a new ticketing option for unlimited visits through the end of the year.

To promote cleanliness, social distancing, and reduced physical contact, the Orlando Crayola Experience has made the following modifications:

The Color Playground and Toddler Town climber is closed until further notice.
Crayons have been removed from tables and the Colossal Caddy, and chalk from the Scribble Square area; instead supplies are included in each guest bag received upon admission.
Theater show seating is limited to 25 percent capacity.
The number of available stations on some attractions has been reduced.
Character appearances are suspended until further notice.

Morse Museum Reopening July 8

The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art will reopen to the public on Wednesday, July 8. Public Museum and Museum Shop hours, however, have been temporarily restricted to 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. At this time, the Morse will remain closed on Sundays. The Museum has been temporarily closed since March due to the coronavirus. New guidelines for visiting the Museum have been implemented to ensure a safe reopening.

To reduce direct personal contact, and to maintain recommended physical distancing, the Morse Museum has developed an appointment system for visitors to reserve a time slot prior to their visit.

All those planning to visit the Museum are asked to make an appointment in advance of their visit. The last available appointment is at 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Beginning July 8, appointments may be made by visiting morsemuseum.org/plan-your-visit or by calling (407) 644-1429 during operating hours.

For the safety of both visitors and staff, the Morse has instituted new guidelines:

If you feel at all unwell, please postpone your visit and contact the Museum to arrange a new appointment time.
Please wear a face covering during your visit. Masks are available at the Visitor Services desk.
Please do not touch anything in the Museum except the object guides available in each gallery.
Please maintain a social distance of at least six feet (preferably ten feet) from others throughout your visit.
Please sanitize your hands at the sanitizing stations in the lobby and just before leaving the galleries to enter the Museum Shop.

The Morse has created these guidelines to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible and to comply with local and state health recommendations.

For all those who would like to continue to visit the Museum virtually from home, the Morse offers many opportunities. The Morse Museum’s website includes online activities, videos, and an audio tour.

Please note that all on-site lectures, music presentations, art demonstrations, and other in-person programs as well as social events are canceled or postponed until further notice.

The Morse Museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by American designer and artist Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933), including the chapel interior he designed for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago and art and architectural objects from Tiffany’s celebrated Long Island home, Laurelton Hall. The Museum’s holdings also include American art pottery, late 19th- and early 20th-century American paintings, graphics, and decorative art.

Located at 445 N. Park Avenue, the Museum is owned and operated by the Charles Hosmer Morse Foundation and receives additional support from the Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation. It receives no public funds.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Announces Opening Date

Leadership at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex announced that the visitor complex will reopen to guests effective Thursday, May, 28, 2020 with reduced admission, attendance limits, and some attractions unavailable.

During the initial reopening phase, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will begin new measures and procedures in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendations.

To reinforce guests’ health and safety:

A limited number of attractions and services will be available during this initial, reopening phase.
All guests will undergo a temperature screening upon arrival.
The Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour will not be available due to social distancing guidelines.
Face coverings will be required for employees and guests. Face coverings will be available for purchase at the front entrance.
New physical-distancing measures will be in place.
All guests are required to have a timed ticket, including annual passholders.
Advance ticket purchases are strongly encouraged to ensure entry due to limited capacity.
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will continue the comprehensive and extensive availability of hand sanitizer throughout the park, as well as the increased routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces in the workplace and at workstations, countertops, doorknobs, and ticket counters.

These precautions are temporary and are subject to change at any time based on the recommendations of the CDC, State of Florida, and Brevard County. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex management continues to work closely with local, state, and federal experts to ensure that we are up to date on the situation as it evolves.

Guests will also be able to purchase a space expert-led walking tour through Heroes & Legends featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, the Rocket Garden, Nature and Technology, Journey to Mars: Explorers Wanted, NASA Now, Space Shuttle Atlantis^®, Astronaut Training Experience^®. This tour, which will be limited to small groups, costs $49.99 and includes admission and a boxed lunch.

During the initial reopening, a limited-time “Explore Today, Explore Tomorrow” package, which will include daily admission, parking and a complimentary ticket to return to the visitor complex in 2021, will be $29.99 for adults and $24.99 for children.

The operating hours will be 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Leadership will continue to assess the situation and make adjustments to the availability of exhibits, tours, and experiences as deemed safe and appropriate. To help protect against the spread of COVID-19 and help ensure guest and employee safety, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has taken and will continue to take action to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus based on the guidance of the CDC. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.

SEA LIFE & Madame Tussauds Now Open

SEA LIFE Orlando Madame Tussauds Orlando ICON Park Reopen May 2020

SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium and Madame Tussauds Orlando at ICON Park have officially reopened to guests for an enjoyable escape.

A range of new health and safety measures have been introduced in line with government advice and the requirements of local health authorities.

Safety measures such as social distancing signage, contactless payment, and enhanced cleaning will be clearly visible to guests from the moment they arrive.

Interactive experiences including touch tanks at SEA LIFE Aquarium and photo props at Madame Tussauds have been temporarily removed.

Capacity will also be restricted to no more than 25 percent of permitted occupancy.

“The health of our guests, staff, and sea animals is of utmost importance. We are taking proactive steps to provide visitors with a safe, comfortable environment,” said General Manager of SEA LIFE Orlando and Madame Tussauds Orlando James Paulding. “We will continue to adapt our operations to adhere with health and safety guidelines while offering guests the chance to create magical memories.”

As part of the reopening, SEA LIFE Orlando and Madame Tussauds Orlando will honor the tireless work of local medical professionals by providing complimentary tickets to healthcare heroes.

For every guest who shares a photo of their visit and tags the attraction in a social media post during their visit, both locations will donate one ticket to a local healthcare worker from a health care partner to be announced soon.

For a limited time, guests who are the “First To Play” will get a specially discounted ticket that includes free digital downloads. Entry to both SEA LIFE Orlando and Madame Tussauds is now available for $30 per adult and $25 per child. Single attraction tickets are discounted to $20 per adult and $15 per child and also include free digital downloads.

Families are encouraged to visit the SEA LIFE ORLANDO website and Madame Tussauds Orlando website to purchase tickets and review safety protocols ahead of their visit.

Dr. Phillips Center Updates Orlando 20/21 Season

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts UPDATES TO THE 20/21 FAIRWINDS BROADWAY IN ORLANDO SEASON ANNOUNCED

Dr. Phillips Center has announced that the previously scheduled performance of the FAIRWINDS Broadway in Orlando engagement of To Kill a Mockingbird, scheduled for Dr. Phillips Center will be postponed. The highly anticipated Orlando run will be part of the 21/22 season.

In addition, The Cher Show, originally scheduled for June 15 – 20, 2021 will not come to the Dr. Phillips Center as part of the 20/21 Broadway season. The show has postponed its national tour with new dates to be announced.

Jesus Christ Superstar will appear as part of the 20/21 season at Dr. Phillips Center on June 15–20, 2021.
