Fall at Walt Disney World brings fun celebrations, festive decorations, and mostly delicious Fall Treats, and the Disney Parks Blog shared the Foodie Guide to Fall Treats that includes something for everyone. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort Debuts Foodie Staycations

UPDATED: The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has extended its new Sip, Savor and Stay series to a seventh weekend by offering a second Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition taking place on Friday, Oct. 30, 5:30pm – 8:00pm.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotel has created a resort exclusive series of weekly food and drink themed events this fall called Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays: A New Twist on the Food & Wine Classic Experience.

Starting September 19^th, every Saturday evening from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm through October 24, a different culinary experience will take place exclusively for guests staying on the new Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays overnight package.

Each themed event will feature an intimate atmosphere with a limited capacity implemented with the latest in responsible food delivery safety measures and social distancing procedures to create an entertaining, unforgettable, mouthwatering experience.

Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays Details

The Sip, Savor and Stay Saturday events are created by the resort’s award-winning food and beverage team and are inspired by elements of the popular Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic elements like the Champagne Lounge, barbecue favorites, and Oktoberfest.

The Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays weekend event lineup is as follows:

September 19: Bubbles Lounge

A lounge experience showcasing the finest in sparkling beverages with perfectly paired small bites to complete the experience. Taste the base varietals of traditional Champagne along with various sparkling wine styles from around the world.

September 26: Beer Garden

A celebration of hops with a variety of ales, lagers, and pilsners served alongside pub favorites.

October 3: Italian Wines & Bites

A delicious trip for guests’ taste buds across the Atlantic showcasing top Italian wines varietals from across the country’s famed regions from Sicily to Tuscany to Piedmont.

October 10: Smokin’ D’s Bourbon, Beer, & BBQ

A selection of BBQ favorites handcrafted by the resort’s executive chef Dan Herman along with the best in bourbon and beer samplings. Smokin’ D’s menu items are annual favorites at Food & Wine Classic and only offered at the resort select times each year.

October 17: Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition (5:30-8:00pm)

A new Food & Wine Classic experience, this event features fan favorites from the well-known Swan & Dolphin Food & Wine Classic in a more intimate setting.

October 24: Oktoberfest Biergarten

An Oktoberfest party with German-themed music and tastings alongside a full selection of brews.

A one-night Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays package offers guests a chance to celebrate the culinary arts all weekend long.

In addition to exclusive access to the Saturday evening event, guests can enjoy a different specialty themed pop-up food truck each Saturday by the resort pool (available to all resort guests and not included in the package), as well as convenient, walkable access to the Taste of Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, just 1,000-steps away.

Tickets are available exclusively as a resort package. Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays one-night packages start at $295 and include access for two adults. The October 17 Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition experience, which will feature extended hours and expanded offerings, will start at $395 for a one-night package. Events are limited to those 21 and older.

Safety

All Sip, Savor and Stay Saturdays events will be indoors and limited to 100 participants, except for the Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition experience which will be limited to 200 participants in a larger space.

Among the protocols that will be implemented for each event are:

Temperature check at the entrance for all attendees,
Plexiglass walls for all food service,
All cast members wearing PPE,
Each group will receive their own socially distanced reserved table,
Touchless menus, and
Clearly marked social distancing signage.

Magical Dining Begins Next Week

UPDATE: Visit Orlando Magical Dining has been extended until October 31st!!!!

I am really excited to share that Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining starts next week with an absolutely amazing charity!

If you aren’t familiar with it, Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining offer diners to experience fine dining in Orlando at a great value with a $35 three-course, prix-fixe menu supporting local businesses and helping to feed others in need.

This year Magical Dining will run August 28 through October 4 with new additions that encourage dining with confidence.

Participating restaurants are going above and beyond with new safety measures; new takeout and delivery meal options for in-home dining; and the website now designates venues that also offer open-air and outdoor dining.

The OrlandoMagicalDining.com website is now live for diners to review menus of participating restaurants, make reservations, and see options for outdoor seating, takeout, and delivery.

“Visit Orlando originally started this program 15 years ago to support local restaurants during the off-season, and this year is literally the most significant and longest off-season these businesses have ever faced,” said George Aguel, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. “Supporting this program is a positive benefit for all – residents get to enjoy fine dining at a value, local businesses can put employees to work, and Central Florida residents in need will receive meals through this year’s charity recipient, Feed the Need.”

Recognizing the significant impact of the pandemic on the local economy, this year’s charity provides food for local residents in need. The beneficiary, Feed the Need Florida, is feeding those who are struggling to access food during the COVID-19 crisis.

Since the program launched in late March, over 1 million meals have been served, and funds raised through Magical Dining will help feed thousands more. The effort is led by Orlando nonprofit 4Roots, plus public and private partners, to support Florida farmers, preserve and create jobs, and prepare nutritious meals to be served throughout Central Florida.

“We are honored to be a beneficiary of this year’s Magical Dining program,” said John Rivers, Founder & CEO, 4Roots & 4 Rivers Restaurants. “Although the COVID-19 crisis has shined a light on our efforts to feed those in need, the beautiful families and children we’re feeding today were hungry before COVID-19, and they’ll be hungry after COVID-19. We pray that others will join us in this cause, come beside us, and help make it happen.”

Due to limited seating capacity at participating restaurants, diners are strongly encouraged to make reservations in advance to ensure securing their preferred dates and times.

Ole Red Battle of the Bands Coming Soon

Today Ole Red Orlando has announced a new weekly competition series that will entertain guests with some of the best up-and-coming country music talent from around the nation and provide local and regional artists opportunities to showcase their talents on a national stage as the performances will be live-streamed across each venue.

Ole Red Battle of the Bands begins on Wednesday, August 19th, and will take place across all Ole Red locations, giving fans in Orlando; Nashville and Gatlinburg, Tenn.; and Blake Shelton’s hometown of Tishomingo, Okla., virtual experiences of visiting each Ole Red location in one night. Fans can vote for their favorites and the winning band will take home bragging rights and a cash prize.

The program will be hosted every Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Bands will play two songs, including one original and one cover, and guests will receive a special offer just for participating in the voting process.

A Taste of Epcot to Debut at the Park

A Taste of Epcot International Food and Wine Festival 2020

One of the best times of year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort is the annual EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, and Imagineers have cooked up a creative and modified festival experience that will be the longest festival yet – A Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!

This new take on the foodie festival will debut July 15 and continue through the fall, offering over 20 signature global marketplaces like Hawaii, Hops & Barley, and Islands of the Caribbean, spaced out around the park.

The Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival combines the floral fun of Flower & Garden with the global goodies of the annual Food & Wine Festival.

If you didn’t get to see the park’s newest topiary, Remy, in the France pavilion, or to purchase any Flower & Garden merchandise, this is your chance!

For scavenger hunt fans, Remy’s Ratatouille Hide and Squeak scavenger hunt returns to take guests on an adventure to find their favorite ’Tiny Chef’.

While we don’t have information about the Food & Wine merchandise yet, we are sure to share the information as the products join the fun later on after the festival begins.

While popular musical acts during the “Eat to the Beat Concert Series” often pack the house, they will not be a part of the Take of Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in an effort to accommodate proper physical distancing.

However, there will be plenty of music to enjoy at America Gardens Theatre with local EPCOT entertainment such as Mariachi Cobre, the JAMMitors and more.

It’s going to be awesome to see these fan favorites perform throughout the day, giving audiences more options to enjoy them.

The 17,289-square-foot venue includes two levels with state-of-the-art acoustics and lighting for a concert-quality music experience, as well as indoor and outdoor private event areas and three bars. The venue features a large stage and concert-level production and sound capabilities, along with a video wall and additional LED screens.

Programming will include curated concert line-ups, showcases for up-and-coming talent, and live music throughout the week.

A made-from-scratch, Shelton-inspired menu will feature Ole Red signature items, specialty cocktails, an extensive selection of beer and wine, and Orlando-only specialties.

With its scheduled open date of April 14 delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant will open with strict adherence to CDC and local health department safety guidelines.

The venue will operate with physical distancing by positioning tables at least six feet apart. Every guest in the restaurant will have a seat at a table, and only groups of six or less will be seated together. There will be no standing in the restaurant, and dance floors will be closed to ensure physical distancing. Food and drink menus, plates, silverware, and condiments will be single-use and disposable.

Staff will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and receive temperature checks before shifts. Cleaning protocols and precautions have been elevated above the recommended requirements with proactive sanitary and disinfectant measures. The bathrooms have been renovated with hands-free soap, paper towels, and faucets. Hand sanitizer stations throughout the building will be available for guests to use as needed.

City Works Announces Reopening

City Works Eatery & Pour House at Disney Springs announced it will reopen Wednesday, June 10.

City Works is located next door to the NBA Experience and is Disney Springs’ premier sports restaurant and bar with its high-definition TVs; 90 local, regional, and global craft beers on tap; and a menu offering brilliant twists on American classics.

With a video wall that features a 168-inch, high-definition video screen complemented by four 110-inch and 12 65-inch screens, City Works is the perfect place to watch sports as professional leagues begin to announce their returns.

City Works Queso Dip - Reopening June 10 — Queso Dip

To celebrate its reopening, City Works is “gettin’ cheesy” with new menu items as part of its limited menu featuring:

Queso Dip that offers hot chorizo and pepper jack cheese to give it a subtle kick.
Rigatoni with goat cheese to make it creamy and delicious. Gluten-free pasta is also available.
Smoked Cheddar Mac is an adult version of classic mac and cheese, enhanced with bacon lardons and smoked cheddar cheese.
Their Tex Mex Mac is topped with crispy tortilla strips, providing a crunch to balance the creaminess of the dish.

City Works Rigatoni - Reopening June 2020 — City Works Rigatoni

In addition to the new menu items, City Works is constructing a new canopy over its outdoor dining area that will soon be available for guests who prefer dining outside.

City Works offers 30-40% of its draft beer taps dedicated to local breweries and eight wines on draft. Guests can enjoy Happy Hour specials, including $2 off well drinks, local craft beers, glasses of wine, and $7 bar bites Monday through Thursday 3-6 p.m.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Rock and Roll Brunch will return on weekends soon.

City Works will implement a number of safety measures upon reopening. This includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all team members and increased cleaning protocols and precautions, including scheduled sanitizing of all shared surfaces evey 30 minutes, required hand washing every 20-30 minutes and seating following social distancing guidelines. City Works has created a Shift Safety Manager position to ensure these protocols are being followed. Hand sanitizer stations also will be located throughout the restaurant for guests.

Palo Chocolate Soufflé at Home

At Palo, Disney Cruise Line’s signature restaurant named after the colorful poles that line the canals of Venice, dining is taken to a new level that will have you believing in culinary magic.

While the menu features some amazing modern Italian dishes, you absolutely cannot pass on ordering Palo’s iconic chocolate soufflé, prepared fresh-to-order, and served piping hot with luscious vanilla bean and chocolate sauces.

I am really excited to share with you how to make this dessert that is sure to light up any evening.

Palo Chocolate Soufflé (Serves 6)

Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter, plus more for greasing the soufflé cups
6 tablespoons sugar, plus more for dusting the soufflé cups
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons Dutch-processed cocoa
2 ounces (2/3 cup) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, melted
4 eggs, separated
Vanilla Sauce (recipe follows)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Set a full kettle of water on to boil.
Butter six 4-ounce soufflé cups and coat with sugar; set aside.
Bring the milk to a boil in a small saucepan. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cocoa to the butter and beat with a whisk to a smooth, paste-like consistency. Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute.
Slowly add the hot milk, whisking until smooth, then blend in melted chocolate. Let cool for 5 minutes, then stir in egg yolks.
Beat egg whites in a separate bowl until frothy. Slowly add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff, glossy peaks form. Stir a heaping spoonful of egg whites into the chocolate, then fold in the remaining whites just until combined.
Pour the batter into prepared soufflé cups. Place cups in a large baking dish and add enough boiling water to reach halfway the sides of the soufflé cups.
Bake for 20 minutes. Serve immediately, with warm vanilla sauce.

Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups heavy cream
1/4 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
3 tablespoons sugar
2 small egg yolks

Directions

Bring cream and vanilla bean to a low boil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Combine sugar and egg yolks.
Add 2 spoonfuls of boiling cream to egg mixture and stir well, then pour back into the remaining cream and continue to cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 3 to 4 minutes.

On the Go in the Parks: Universal Orlando’s CityWalk

Let’s Start over at the Universal Orlando Resort for the reopening of CityWalk!

CityWalk was really the ‘Epicenter of Awesome’ this week as they opened with limited operations.

It was so great to once again see people roaming CityWalk, but I will caution you that I expect the area to be busy this weekend so there a few things you can do to cut down on your waits!

Download the Official Universal Orlando Resort App – Be ready to make those Cashless purchases and make sure to link your Universal Orlando Resort Pass for discounts!
Plan to arrive early: They are limiting the number of guests they are allowing in the CityWalk area, and there can be a back up at the parking plaza as self-parking is free.
Be prepared – Have that mask on and ready as you approach the temperature check so security can pass you as quickly as possible.
Be patient – Mind those 6ft social distancing markers on the ground, relax, and make sure to enjoy your time once again at Universal’s CityWalk!!!

CityWalk at the Universal Orlando Resort is open daily from 4-10 pm, but please remember that the theme parks and resorts are still currently closed.

Disney Springs Reopening: More Restaurants Opening Soon

You know it is going to be a great day when we can start it off by sharing additional openings coming soon to Disney Springs!!!

The Patina Restaurant group announced that four of the Disney Springs dining locations that they operate will open on May 22nd with a new “Dine Safe” program.

The dining locations that will be resuming their operations with limited menus for lunch and/or dinner service include:

Vivoli il Gelato – Open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Morimoto Asia (Main Dining Room Dinner Service) – Open from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Morimoto Asia Street Food (Outdoor Dining Lunch & Dinner Service) – Open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Pizza Ponte (Indoor/Outdoor Dining Lunch & Dinner Service) – Open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Please keep in mind that the operating hours listed are tentative and could change.

Now, let’s take a look at their new “Dine Safe” program that is being implemented across all of their locations.

Disney Springs Patina Group Dine Safe Program May 2020

The “Dine Safe: Commitment to Care” program is a comprehensive set of reengineered operating procedures to minimize contact risk and bolster hygiene protocol that meet or exceed the best-practice guidelines recommended by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“These heightened sanitation standards will help us manufacture a dining environment that keeps guests and our team members as safe as possible,” said Kyle Collins, Director of Marketing for Patina in Florida. “The health, wellbeing, and peace of mind of our guests, team members, and the community remain our highest priorities.”

The key components of the Dine Safe program include:

The Dining Room and Guest Experience:

To enhance health and safety measures, guests will be required to wear face coverings at all times except while eating and drinking.
Ensuring current social distancing procedures are upheld via the redesign of table layouts for seating guests as directed by local and state regulators and in compliance with the CDC.
Enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols, including hourly disinfecting as needed for all high-touch surfaces.
Multiple hand-sanitizing stations strategically placed throughout our facilities.
Controlled access to the facility to carefully monitor incoming and outgoing patrons and employees through clearly designated entrances and exits.
Using single-use menus to limit contact.

Team Member Safety Measures:

Undergo a health check when they report to work.
Sanitize their hands when they report to work and are required to wash and sanitize their hands every 20 minutes throughout the shift.
Wear masks while on duty.
Undergo a comprehensive “Dine Safe” Training Program.
