P.S. from Aeropostale opens at the Prime Outlets

If anybody knows me well, they know that I adore shopping. I Adore outlets and I ADORE a great deal!!! Outlet shopping is the best because you never know what you might find.

When Shelley and I were asked to come to the Grand Opening Party for P.S. for Aeropostale ( WHICH is pronounced Aero-post-ale FYI 😉 ) , I jumped at the chance.

When you walk into the store, you are immediately blown away at the bright and light and open space of a store that is packed full of kids clothes. The Displays were eye catching and the words written on the walls were adorable.

This kind of store makes me wish I was a kid/tween so I could have Owl Pajamas and  socks that had cool phrases&symbols on them!

P.S. For Aeropostale  is the sister store to Aeropostale. These clothes are geared towards the fashionable kid/tween set that are to small for Aeropostale and too big for baby clothes! They are affordable, durable and just plain ADORABLE! They carry trendy stuff, adorable pajamas, fun shoes and socks and even school uniform offerings.

Good GOLLY I wish this was in big kid sizes!

Now, since I have no little’s of my own , I headed over to the Big Kids Aeropostale where they offered us the same 20% off discount for the Opening of P.S.from Aeropostale Party! ( Thank you to Michelle and Ellen) I was able to pick up a bevy of things for a FRACTION of the regular mall prices!!!!

I picked up 2 pair of boot socks, 2 camis, a Rugby Shirt and 5 pair of knit boxer briefs for about $47.00 !!!!!!

If you are looking for a place to stock up on some goodies for school or christmas or any holiday, then PLEASE take a run over to P.S.for Aeropostale and Aeropostale at the Prime Outlets on International Drive!

Thank you to Jen for inviting us and for the ladies and gents at P.S. for Aeropostale for hosting us!!

Orlando City Announces Study Demonstrating $1.2 Billion Impact For Central Florida

ORLANDO CITY PRESENTS STUDY DEMONSTRATING $1.2B IMPACT FOR CENTRAL FLORIDA

Proposed stadium would cost $96 million and is key to entry into MLS

Orlando City Soccer - Weekly Review

Orlando City SC (OCSC) held a press conference on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Amway Center to present the Economic Impact Study the team commissioned from CS&L. The study showed that a new Major League Soccer (MLS) stadium would have a $1.2 billion economic impact on the local area. The presentation, led by OCSC President Phil Rawlins, was yet another step on the team’s journey toward an MLS franchise for Central Florida.

“We have a fantastic opportunity to bring a second major-league pro sports franchise to the city,” said Rawlins. “We need to grasp it with both hands and come together to make this work for the region.”

The report laid out the economic details on Orlando City’s goal of becoming a MLS franchise in the immediate future. The estimated cost of the new multi-purpose stadium would be $96 million. The new facility would generate new revenues of $1.2 billion over the next 30 years.

71% of the overall cost of the stadium would be spent locally in the Central Florida area, totaling $69 million. Construction of the facility would also create 890 jobs in the Orlando area.

USL teams, like Orlando, that have moved up to MLS have averaged a 325% attendance increase in their first season- making a strong statement that OCSC could draw big attendance numbers once in the MLS.

The proposed facility would also be able to host international friendly games, US National Team and NCAA Final Four soccer matches along with regional sporting events and concerts.

Flirting with Gators at Gatorland!

I am a lucky girl because I tend to get a LOT of visitors now that I live here in Florida, and I hardly ever have to brave the epic cold of New Hampshire!  My parents visit at least once a year and we always look for new and fun things to do when they do visit. While we usually have a day at Disney and we have also gone to Sea World, but this year I decided to take my parents to Gatorland! I have not been since I was a wee little mocha princess and figured my parents would get a kick out of it! Especially my father who is TOTALLY AFRAID of Alligators!

If you take a peak at the Gatorland Website this is what you see

Gatorland is so much more than just alligators at a price that doesn’t put a strain on your vacation experience!

At 110- acres, Gatorland provides affordable-priced family fun with thousands of alligators & crocodiles to see, an aviary, breeding marsh with observation tower, petting zoo, nature walk, award-winning gift shop and one-of-a-kind reptilian shows including the Gator Wrestlin’ Show, Gator Jumparoo and the Up-close Encounters Show.

Take a ride on the Gatorland Express train and then head on over to Gator Gully Splash Park where kids of all ages can enjoy a good ol’ fashion squirtfest!

Don’t miss the new rare white alligators on display for a limited engagement at Gatorland’s newest exhibit, White Gator Swamp. Featuring four of the world’s largest white leucistic alligators known to roam the planet, these giant Ivory colored reptiles are each ten to twelve feet in length and weigh over 800 pounds. Their piercing blue eyes are believed to have the ability to command good fortune to those lucky enough to make eye contact with the blue eyed beauties.

So after a great family Breakfast at Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, it was time to head down Orange Blossom Trail to Gatorland!

We were right on time for the Gator Jumparoo Show. This was a total riot! We saw Rednecks throwing raw meat at Gators trying to get them to jump out of the water… what was there not to like?

We then got to feed the HUGE Turtles a snack. I am beyond amazed that I got to feed a thousand pound turtle some carrots! Dean was one of the most gentle creatures I have ever met but BOY was he strong! In fact, the whole family got to feed him and that was a total highlight!

We went down the walking path and saw the little habitats that had small rattler snakes, cobras, and other kinds of snakes. We were sad to learn that while we walked past the Bird Aviary was closed (side note: I was NOT sad.. I HATE BIRDS, they scare the bananas out of me) so we trucked along to see the white alligators  THESE THINGS CREEP ME OUT! They are all white/yellow skinned and have bright blue eyes… totally creepy. They are from Louisiana and as far as I am concerned, they can stay there!

All over the property they have habitats housing some HUGE Gators that have come from all over the USA to live at Gatorland. With names like Toxic and their bios stating that they come from neighborhoods where they were known for eating lots of dogs, I can understand why they were housed in their own sections. These Gators are NO joke!!!!

Before we went into the Gator Trail, we stopped by the cart to buy our Gator Food (which was really hot dogs) so we could feed some gators!!!! When you start walking around the river  you see a few gators here and there, but when you feed the first one that they all come out of the woodwork. These HUGE gators move so fast for just a piece of hot dog. I don’t doubt that they are well fed, but they LOVE them some hot dogs! Watching these 8 and 9 foot gators come across the pond quite fast and seeing them snap and bite about 5 feet down, if it was even that far, for a piece of hot dog….. it was almost like being on Survivor. My dad was a tosser of the pieces and I was more of a throw down at them, because they they would react and snap at each other and make noise 🙂 So awesome!

After feeding the Gators we took the train around the property towards the Gatorland Wrestlin’ show! We were lucky to catch the last show of the day, We saw the guy pin a gator down, hold im with just his chin 10 different ways and put a gator to sleep with the slightest touch! The best part was the end of the show when they asked if anyone in the audience wanted to sit on a gator and get their picture taken! My Husband James Threw up 10 bucks for my father to do it! The same Father who is deathly afraid of gators. My Dad did the big kid thing and went down and got in line. To listen to him tell the story he “Wrassled that 35 foot gator to the ground who weighted at LEAST 4500 pounds and held him down with his brute strength” In all actuality, he knelt over a 7 foot alligator whose mouth was taped shut and smiled for a camera. I am still proud of him!

After the show ended we walked towards the exit looking at all the pools of baby gators and some of their turtle friends while still being really sad that the bird habitat had closed for the day 😉  This was a THOROUGHLY enjoyable day at Gatorland and we didn’t even take advantage of everything Gatorland had to offer. We didn’t go to the petting zoo or the bird aviary or the splash park or the Zip Line Adventure. I would recommend a day at Gatorland to ANYONE who hasn’t been! Kids and Adults both will love it! Please check out their website www.Gatorland.com to take a look at their offerings and map. They also offer all sorts of education packages and even Birthday Parties!

A BIG HUGE Thanks to my Friend Stacey who treated my family and I to a day at Gatorland! We had a blast and will TOTALLY visit again!

Titanic The Experience Ghost Tour

Titanic The Experience
7324 International Drive * Orlando Florida 32819

When Shelley and I got invited to go back to Titanic the Experience and take part in one of their new Ghost tours we JUMPED at the chance. We had such an amazing time on the first tour that we knew we wanted to go back for another experience and we of course had to drag Shalon with us.

Titanic the Experience
Titanic The Experience

The Ghost Tour is different from the Experience Tour because while you go through the rooms and learn the history of the artifacts, the guides Joe Zimmer and Jac LeDoux delve a bit more into the folk lore of the pieces. The word of mouth rumors about premonitions and deaths that happened prior and things of that nature. They also talked about experiences that the guides themselves have had while working there. Before Titanic got their remodel they were housed over on the other side of International Drive in an area called The Mercado which has since been tore down. The Mercado was a very old set of buildings that was turned into shopping and dining and entertainment area. It has since been torn down but the guides all have memories and experiences to share.

Titanic The Experience
In this room the chain on the wall definitely was moving as we were told about the odd incidents that have happened in Titanic The Experience.

So much of the Ghost Tour is a personal experience. You still get the boarding pass of an actual Titanic passenger but this time the stories they tell about the people have a much more superstitious feel to them then the regular tour.  It is all about how you feel when you look at the artifacts and if you feel as though there is a presence around you. We were told about a young girl named Katie who was one of the resident spirits in the exhibit. She likes to move artifacts and play around with the Tour Guides. And they also like to play with her. She has a doll that has been found all over the tour rooms and exhibit. She has been known to move mirrors and small items as such. Some of the guides will not play with her but some of them have just as much fun as they can with it. Hiding her doll in tall or obscure places, taunting her with toys and food and even asking her to move things for them to see if she will do it. It is a well known fact that she will play along with certain tour guides but not all of them.

Titanic The Experience
The recreation of the boiler room of the Titanic was super creepy, especially the speaking tube!

While we were on our tour, we were lucky enough to have some Paranormal Experts with us experiencing the exhibit. One of them had a meter of sorts that read magnetic activity and when we were in certain rooms it would be going crazy and all the lights would be blowing up. One of the guides took a group of us back to the telegraph room and that is where they decided to try and talk to the spirits. Asking yes or no questions to the spirits green on the meter meaning yes and red on the meter meaning no. While I totally am a believer in spirits, I totally understand people who aren’t. Seeing the meter respond and feeling the chill in the air in spots and seeing artifacts that were enclosed in cases or units move, totally blew my mind. This isn’t magic, this isn’t a 3 cent show. This is the type of thing that really gets you to thinking and believing.

Titanic The Experience
Did you make it?

Titanic was a real event. With real people and real emotions. Seeing and hearing the stories and watching how the tour guides react totally make this a one of a kind experience. Seeing the other people on the tour react is another aspect of this tour.

 Titanic The Experience

Epcot Food and Wine Festival 2012 – Snack And Sip On This, Skip That

Epcot Food and Wine Festival 2012 – Snack And Sip On This, Skip That

Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Every year at Food and Wine festival at Epcot there are a few booths that are either the same as previous years or things that are always available in the parks. While these items are yummy, they can be skipped if you are a on a time crunch while sipping and strolling around the park. I figured I would let you in on a few of these items!

Canada:

Cheddar Cheese Soup: I know people go BANANAS for this soup and it is a top seller but this is both something you can get at Food and Wine, to go service AND table service at Le Cellier any time of the year. The line is ALWAYS super long and usually a bit of a wait.

My Advice: Skip This

Ice Wine: I am a HUGE FAN of Ice Wine. I had it for the first time many years ago at Food and Wine Festival. I make this a priority stop every year! The grapes for Ice Wine are only picked once a year, within a few hours from a special harvest of frozen to the vine grapes! It is a sweet dessert wine that is always such a treat no matter when you drink it!!!

My Advice: Sip on This

Greece:

Assorted Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt Cups: I feel silly putting this on the list but I have to let you know! Seriously, head to Publix and pick your own flavors and enjoy them for breakfast! I am a huge Greek Yogurt fan but, who needs to wait in line and bay 3.00 for yogurt… lol. I would sing a different song if they had fresh made Greek Yogurt however.

My Advice: Skip This

Italy

Ravioli di Formaggio All’emiliana (Baked Cheese Ravioli) : This is always a top seller and there is always a long line to sample this. After Food and Wine 2 years ago, Epcot set up an Italy booth just on the outside of the country where you could purchase this dish year round since it was such a popular and huge hit. This portion for Food and Wine is a bit smaller then the regular season portion so it isn’t really worth the bang for your buck!

My Advice: Skip This

Morocco

Kefta Pocket: This is an item that they do sell in Tangerine Cafe but this is a smaller portion at a much smaller price without the sides. The Seasoned beef is always flavorful and it is put in a Pita Pocket! One of my favorite choices for lunch so this is the perfect size if you want to try something new!

My Advice: Snack on This

Poland

Kielbasa & Potato Pirogi with Caramelized Onions: My husband and I are HUGE Pirogi fans.. we eat them at least twice a month. I am convinced that the Pirogi that they serve are the same ones we buy at Walmart. They tend to be over boiled and very floppy, served with a small slice of boiled kielbasa, a mickey head squirt of sour cream and a few floppy onions on top. Save your self the time, make them at home!

My Advice: Skip This

Singapore

Singapore Sling: This is a concoction of Gin, Fresh Pineapple Juice, Cherry Juice and Soda Water. If you are ready for a strong and sweet beverage then grab this! Our recommendation is to ask for a cup of ice and pour your beverage over the ice to cut down on the strength.

My Advice: Sip On This

These are just some of my notes. Please feel free to sip and snack and skip what you want. I am lucky enough to get to go to Food and Wine multiple times each year so I can be a bit picky when ti comes to what I want to spend my money on each year. Please Keep on the look out for some of our Favorites and some of our Not so Favorites in the coming weeks! Make sure you follow us around on Twitter to see what new Favorites we may have!!!

Beth went to the preview of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival yesterday, and here are some of the pictures that she tweeted!

And now here are some Quick Bites to keep in mind as you are going around the Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Now these Quick Bites are extremely honest, and we have also included links to our friends over at The Disney Food Blog since they have AMAZING coverage of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival for a different perspective and beautiful pictures!

Argentina

* Beef Empanada – I tried this last year, but didn’t like it.  It was the only thing that I actually threw out.
* Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Purée – I loved this.  It was one of my favorite   things at the festival.

Australia

* Shrimp on the Barbie with Pepper Berry Citrus Glaze – This is always good, but I’m not sure it is worth the cost.  I would love to try to make it at home.
*Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies – Yum!  I don’t recall the potato crunchies in previous years, but I can’t wait to try them.

Belgium

* Steamed Mussels in Hoegaarden Beer Broth and Baguette – This is a festival favorite.  I’ve always enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
* Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream – So good! People wait in the long lines for this dish alone!
* Guylian Belgian Chocolate Seashell Truffles – Last year this was only 2 truffles per package.  It wasn’t an expensive item and the prices were probably on par with high-end chocolate like Godiva, but I don’t think I’d spend my money on it.
* Hoegaarden – My personal favorite beer in Belgium (though not my favorite of all Belgian beers).
* Leffe Brune – This is a new one beer this year.
* Godiva Chocolate Liqueur Iced Coffee – Always delicious, but a very small serving.

Brewer’s Collection

* Altenmünster Oktoberfest – This is also available in the Germany marketplace and in the WS pavillion.
* Altenmünster Dunkel – This beer was so popular last year that it sold out with more than 2 weeks left in the festival.

Canada
* Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup – This is always a top seller, but I personally don’t care for it.
* Chicken Chipotle Sausage with Sweet Corn Polenta and “Minus 8″ Onion Jam – I loved this last year.  Officially, it doesn’t have a pairing, but I would recommend Niege (apple ice wine) with it.

** Neige Bubble – This actually won’t be at the festival because of a tornado at the orchard.**

Caribbean Islands

* Ropa Vieja with Cilantro Rice – A good dish to try.  I actually preferred it to the one served at Columbia Restaurant in Celebration

Cheese

* Cheese Fondue with Sourdough Bread – I love cheese, but I didn’t really like this one last year.
* Trio of Artisan Cheeses: Beecher’s Flagship Reserve Cheddar, La Bonne Vie Goat Brie and Rogue River Creamery Echo Mountain Blue Cheese – These are new cheeses in this selection this year.

*Sterling Vintner’s Collection Meritage – this was only okay.  I don’t think I’d spend the money on it.

Desserts & Champagne
* Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial – served on the rocks

Florida

* Florida Orange Grove Hurricane Class 5, Florida White Sangria – If you like sweeter wines, this is a must try!

France

*  Créme Brûlée au Chocolat au Lait – I always have to have this once!

Germany

* Apple Strudel with Karamel-Vanilla Sauce – this was delicious.  Ask for extra caramel!

* Selbach-Oster Estate Spätlese
* JH Selbach Riesling QbA Red Label – this was good, but I prefer the spatlese

Greece

* Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey – delicious!  I can’t wait to have it again!

Hawaii

* Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise – This was delicious! It is a top seller!

Hops & Barley

* Linda Bean’s® Perfect Maine Lobster Roll® – being a native New Englander, I was skeptical about this dish, but it turns about be delicious.  Save your snack credits for this!
* Pumpkin Mousse with Craisins and Orange Sauce – the spices on this were delicious.  Just like pumpkin pudding.

* Angry Orchard Cider – OMG. This is delicious. I must have more of it!

Ireland

* Lobster and Seafood Fisherman’s Pie
* Kerrygold® Cheese Selection: Aged-Irish Cheddar, Dubliner and Cashel Blue with Apple Chutney and Brown Bread
* Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Bailey’s Ganache

* All three foods are delicious. I think the cheese plate is one of the best values of the festival.

* Bunratty Potcheene Chilled Irish Coffee – new this year, and I am excited to try it with the lava cake.

Italy

* Ravioli di Formaggio All’emiliana (Baked Cheese Ravioli, Creamy Beef Bolognese, Parmesan, Mozzarella) – popular, but I don’t really like it.
* Cannoli al Cioccolato (Chocolate-Covered Cannoli filled with Ricotta, Chocolate, Candied Fruit) – drooling just thinking about this!

Mexico

* Crispy Shrimp Taco with Chipotle Lime Mayo and Cabbage Served on a Flour Tortilla – I loved this last year!

Morocco

* Kefta Pocket (Ground Seasoned Beef in a Pita Pocket) – Good and a great size if you would like to try it without paying full price in Tangerine Cafe.

New Zealand

* Seared Sea Scallop with Kumara Red Curry Puree and Apple Radish Salad – Delicious!  A good sized scallop for the price.

* Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc – This wine really didn’t stick out to me. You may want to skip it…

Poland,
* Kielbasa & Potato Pierogie with Caramelized Onions and Sour Cream – meh.  Go buy Mrs. T’s and Hillshire Farms and make it at home.

Scandinavia

* Rice Pudding with Driscoll’s® Only The Finest Berries™ – good, but I prefer the rice cream inside Kringla Bakery

Singapore

* Beef Rendang with Jasmine Rice – delicious and spicy

* Singapore Sling – get a cup of ice from a counter service location before you order this.  It is very strong!  Pour it over the ice.

South Africa

* Seared Filet of Beef with Smashed Sweet Potatoes and Braai Sauce – this was delicious! I may try it without the sauce next time.

South Korea
* Bohae Black Raspberry Wine-Bokbunjajoo – if this is the same wine as last year, I’d say skip it.  It tasted like cough medicine.

Terra

** Note that the wines served in Terra are not vegan**

* Paul Dolan Pinot Nior – This is delicious!

Night of Joy – Celebrating 30 Years of Inspirational Music at Walt Disney World in 2012

Night of Joy – Celebrating 30 Years of Inspirational Music in 2012

Night of Joy has been held once a year for the past 30 years, and during this event Walt Disney World hosts a Christian Music Festival for 2 nights called Night of Joy.

Shalon and I were most fortinate this past weekend to be invited to the Night of Joy event, we got to the opportunity to meet some of the Amazing talent and see some GREAT concerts!

Here are some of our favorite highlights from the Night of Joy weekend!

We had SUCH an amazing weekend at Night of Joy. We got up close and personal with some artists, we got an amazing should out from the Z88.3 team on the air, and we heard some music that was killer!!!!

We ran from stage to stage to stage all over the Magic Kingdom. We waited in the rain with hundreds of fans waiting to see some of their favorite bands perform. The moment that stands out the most to me, was seeing Chris Tomlin do an acoustic set in front of the castle with everyone singing along in the rain.

It was also a weekend of great fellowship. At the media dinner before the event began, we were able to sit with and get to know Royal Tailor. It was their first Night of Joy, and we were excited to support them with their fans, who sang along to every word.

Lecrae absolutely DRUM the energy level up on the Castle Stage. His energy and message was really amazing! I have never heard that much bass in the Magic Kingdom!

And we loved when Third Day turned everyone there into backup singers and dancers.

Our You Tube has Videos of each concert we went to! Please head on over and check those out

Our Facebook page has ALL of our pictures from the whole weekend so please take a peek.

Thank you to everyone who followed along with our tweets this past weekend and ReTweeted our pictures! It means the world to us that you enjoy what we were doing!

Thank you Especially to Taurin and Blake of Royal Tailor for having dinner with us! Next time you come to our play ground we owe you a non fancy dinner of Corn Dog Nuggets at Caseys! But we wont ever forget the reconstructed Meat Balls!

On Friday The Orlando City Soccer Club ended their amazing season in a loss to the Wilmington Hammerheads 4-3 in the first game of the USL Pro Semi Final.

At the Orlando City Soccer game the Citrus Bowl was rocking with intense energy! The Lions played their hearts out and left it all out on the field, The Iron Lion Firm cheered their faces off not letting their support waiver even more a minute, and the fans stood and cheered for almost the entire game. Orlando City Soccer Club Plays Their First Playoff Game of the Season August 31st!

Orlando City Soccer Club Plays Their First Playoff Game of the Season August 31st!

Orlando City Soccer Club
Orlando City Soccer Club

OK Everyone! Grab your favorite Purple and Red Outfit and head to the Citrus Bowl on Friday, August 31st, night because those AMAZING boys over at Orlando City Soccer Club are playing their first play off game of the season! The Lions will be facing the Wilmington Hammerheads in the play off opener! Kick off is at 7:30pm

From The Desk of the Orlando City Soccer Club Lions:

Orlando City did not play this past weekend because the Lions earned a first-round-bye when they won the 2012 USL PRO Regular Season championship.  The Hammerheads qualified for the postseason with a win on the final day of the regular season, and followed that up with a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Richmond Kickers on Saturday.

Historically, the Lions are 2-1-2 against Wilmington, and hold a 1-1-1 record against the Hammerheads in three meetings this season.  Wilmington was the only USL PRO team to beat City all season, but that win came in Wilmington.  In two Citrus Bowl clashes, Orlando defeated the Hammerheads 4-2 in the 2012 home opener on April 15, and drew 1-1 on July 25.

Ahead of Friday’s match, Orlando City is holding several events to raise awareness of the Lions’ push for a second-consecutive USL PRO championship.  The highlight of the week is on Wednesday when City players and staff will be joined by Mayor Dyer in from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in front of City Hall for a Playoff Pep Rally.

Before Friday’s match, United World Soccer will be hosting a tailgate party at the Citrus Bowl.  Free beer for those 21 and up as well as prizes and giveaways are sure to get the crowd fired up for Friday’s match.  The tailgate party begins at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets for Friday’s match are on sale now and start at just $15.  For more information, call 855-ORL-CITY or email tickets@orlandocitysoccer.com.  Tickets can also be purchased at the Amway Center Box Office, on www.ticketmaster.com, or at the Citrus Bowl on Friday.

I know for a fact that Shelley, Shalon and I will be there in all of our Purple and Red glory in support of the Orlando City Soccer Club, so if you plan on stopping by PLEASE Tweet one of us and let us know! We love cheering for The Lions! You will be able to find us hanging with the Iron Lion Firm in section 121, because they know how to cheer! Be sure to follow On The Go on Twitter while we live tweet from the event and send out some pictures! Good Luck Guys!
