Beach Blast at Old Key West & Saratoga Springs Resorts

Continuing their recent string of fun celebrations, Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort will be holding a Beach Blast on Saturday, June 21st. Included in this will be fun activities and the night will be capped off as usual with a movie suited to the theme.

Old Key West

From 2:00 – 6:00pm guests can visit Community Hall to decorate a foam picture frame magnet. Once they’ve created their frame, guests can take a picture in the beach prop area.

The Splish-Splash Pool Bash will be held at the main thee pool with fun and games from 1:00 – 4:00pm.

At 4:00pm guests can color a beach ball.

If you’re looking for a snack, at 4:30pm you can make your own ice cream sundae.

More snacks are served at 7:30pm with s’mores.

The evening will end with the Movie Under the Stars, which will be Teen Beach Movie.

Saratoga Springs

The High Rock Spring Pool will have the same activities as Old Key West with the picture frame design at Community Hall.

Paddock Pool has the Splish-Splash Pool Bash from 1:00 – 3:00pm and color a beach ball at 3:00pm.

At 3:30pm guests can make their own beach bag, followed by making their own sunglasses at 4:00pm.

Taking Kids to WWE NXT At Full Sail University

Going to a WWE NXT taping at Full Sail University is a great and affordable way for families who love the WWE to see some of the future talent and some of their favorite WWE Superstars and Divas that visit each taping.

But since there are several episodes recorded at each WWE NXT event, here are some of my best tips for taking Kids to WWE NXT.

1. Introduce them to the Superstars and Divas of WWE NXT.

You can find episodes of WWE NXT on the WWE Network, and since episode is less than an hour it is easy for everyone to sit through!

2. Follow WWE NXT on Facebook and Twitter.

Following WWE NXT on Facebook and Twitter will get the heads up on show dates, details, and even special events!

3. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the Full Sail Live Venue.

The Full Sail Live Venue has two categories of seating for WWE NXT, General Admission and Gold Circle. For general admission you will be seated on bleachers, and for Gold Circle seating you will be on folded chairs around the ring and ramp.

Gold Circle sells out extremely fast, but there is no need to worry because the General Admission Seats are all great!

4. WWE Superstars and Diva visits to WWE NXT.

What is really awesome is that at each WWE NXT taping at Full Sail University, WWE Superstars and Divas will have matches.

The WWE Superstars and Divas are announced prior to the event, so watch for information so you can find out when your child’s favorite wrestler will be visiting.

5. Come prepared for a long taping with some of their favorite things.

When you attend a WWE NXT taping, be prepared for an outing that will last around 4 hours! You can bring your own beverages (sodas in cans and if you bring screw top bottles the caps must be removed) and snacks into the venue or you can purchase them there at a very reasonable rate.

Also the Full Sail Live venue has free WiFi, so in case of emergency break out the WWE App or Minecraft!!!

6. Before the WWE NXT tapings

Doors open for WWE NXT Tapings at 5:45 for a 6:30 show, and there are several places to eat around the Full Sail Live Venue or there are various local Food Trucks there for you to try.

Make sure that you follow WWE NXT on Facebook and Twitter, because there will sometimes be opportunities to meet and greet with your favore WWE Superstars and Divas.

Parking at Full Sail can sometimes be difficult, so make sure you arrive on the earlier side so you won’t stress about parking.

A bonus tip is that the WWE NXT tapings have grown to include Live Events that are taped at Full Sail University which are a lot of fun! The last Live Event was Takeover and it was amazing!

Move Live On Tour with Derek and Julianne Hough

This past weekend I had the opportunity to see the new show, Move Live On Tour, featuring Derek and Julianne Hough of Dancing With The Stars fame. If you are at all a fan of DWTS or Derek or Julianne, I highly recommend catching this show in the next five weeks as they finish up their tour.

I have been a fan of dance my whole life, taking ballet and ballroom lessons when I was younger, and even some basic tap and jazz while at a seven week summer camp. Having watched Dancing With The Stars ever since its sophomore season, I didn’t hesitate for a second when my mom invited me to join her and my grandma to go see Move Live On Tour in Sarasota.

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you may have noticed I have a slight obsession with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, my favorite pro dancer on DWTS. Derek is a very close second favorite, and in my opinion, the best choreographer the show has seen and one of the best period. Julianne left the show a few seasons ago to pursue a singing and acting career, but has reappeared to perform a few times and she has also shown up as a guest judge recently.

Move Live On Tour was everything I wanted it to be, but I went in without any specific expectations. It was only as I was sitting there in the moment that I would think to myself that I’d love to see a Paso Doble or a Jive or a Quickstep. Again, having been a fan of dance and the Dancing With The Stars show, I quickly recognized the Ballroom and Latin dance elements as they were being performed. Move Live On Tour though was so much more than just a dance exhibition.

The show program describes the tour as follows: “Superstar siblings Julianne and Derek Hough star in their own all-new dance production, MOVE LIVE ON TOUR, a complete stage production with sets, costumes and a cast of talented dancers, with the Houghs headlining in solo, duet and group performances in styles ranging from ballroom and tap to salsa and hip-hop and everything in between.”

During the show, we were treated to singing from both Derek and Julianne including classics like Wilson Pickett’s Mustang Sally and Anything You Can Do from Annie Get Your Gun. The dance numbers were ranging in numerous styles, using mostly popular music like John Legend’s All Of Me and Happy by Pharrell, and even brought in audience participation and including the performers coming into the aisles during the show.

As much as I love Dancing With The Stars for what it is, it is incredible to see almost two hours chock full of performances just from the professional dancers. In addition to Derek and Julianne, there were about ten other dancers who performed with them in a variety of numbers. The brother and sister duo worked the mic quite a bit to pump up and interact with the audience.

Move Live On Tour was a very humorous show and made me love these very talented dancers even more than I already did. I was even lucky enough to catch Derek mid-show while he was cruising the audience to get a selfie. 🙂 If you enjoy Broadway style music and dance numbers, contemporary dance or more traditional Ballroom or Latin styles, this show is for you.

It was honestly one of the best performances of any kind I’ve ever been to as far as being entertained from start to finish. Check out the video below to get a taste of the type of show you’d be in for if you are lucky enough to catch one of the remaining performances.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley will be opening July 8, 2014!!!

The Today Show has been broadcasting live all morning from Diagon Alley, and posting great video and pictures on Twitter!

For the next few days the Universal Orlando Resort is hosting a Media Event, and if you haven’t been following along you should!!! The # to follow is #DiagonAlleyPreview.

Diagon Alley is home to two great attractions, new merchandise locations, and new restaurants.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is a multi-dimensional 3-D family thrill ride that is protected by a fire-breathing Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon.

Enter Gringotts bank beneath the massive fire-breathing dragon at the far end of Diagon Alley. Inside Gringotts you’ll walk through the bank’s grand marble lobby and see goblins hard at work. Then, get ready to take a journey through cavernous passageways that lead deep underground as you climb aboard Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.

This new, multi-dimensional 3D thrill ride puts you right in the middle of the action as you face the bank’s stringent security measures while navigating the perilous underground vaults. You’ll encounter Harry, Ron, and Hermione along the way, but you’ll have to evade the wrath of malicious villains Voldemort™ and Bellatrix as well as trolls and other creatures who stand between you and a safe return to Diagon Alley.

The Hogwarts Express will take guests between the two parks of the Universal Orlando Resort (admission to both parks is required to ride on the Hogwarts Express) in a way that you had never imagined.

Mirroring the terror that befell the residents of the West Georgia Correctional Facility, now overrun by savage walkers, the experience will send guests fleeing from the fallen prison into unknown territory as they once again stage a desperate battle for survival against flesh-eating walkers and ruthless humans.

“The Walking Dead” is based on the graphic novel written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The series tells the story of the months and years after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by sheriff Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. “The Walking Dead” is the number-one show on television for adults 18-49. AMC’s “The Walking Dead” returns for Season 5 this October.

Universal Orlando’s maze will be the largest maze ever created at Halloween Horror Nights. It is literally double the experience and will feature more scareactors in one single haunted house than ever before. Guests will encounter iconic scenes from Season 4 of the hit show – beginning at the prison, fans will enter the cell block where the infection began, escape into the massive Big Spot location with a crashed helicopter ripping through its ceiling and journey to the dilapidated country club overrun with walkers. These and other incredibly immersive environments culminate to the maze’s finale taking you to the End of the Line – Terminus. This year’s maze will be an entirely new experience, featuring never-before–seen walkers and brand new scares.

SeaWorld Camps Spots Still Open

Summer of Shell At The Nick Hotel

The Summer of Shell at the Nick Hotel, featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), is making the summer of 2014 one to remember!

During the Summer of Shell, which kicked off on Memorial Day Weekend, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael and Donatello will spread “turtle power” throughout the resort with special parties, a new dinner show, themed guest suites, and more.

“The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are incredibly popular with kids of all ages and we are thrilled that they are taking over the Nick Hotel for our ‘Summer of Shell’,” said Tony Aslanian, director of sales and marketing for Nickelodeon Suites Resort. “We can’t wait to unveil everything from our new poolside and Studio Nick shows to our TMNT-themed suites. A new high-energy and fun ‘Turtle Power’ poolside show has debuted that happens at the Lagoon Pool that’s full of dancing, fun, and TMNT goodness.

Also at the pool will be special glow parties, games for the whole family, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle encounters, and “dive in” movies.

Coming soon to the Summer of Shell, are two more additions that will be great for TMNT fans!

In July, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed Laser Maze will be debuting.

Then later in the summer on August 9^th, A Guinness World Record “Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” event will be happening which we’ll be brining you more information about later!

New Harambe Theatre

The new Harambe Theatre is open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and the theatre and the area around it are a beautiful new addition to the park!

Harambe Theatre, which is home to the newly reopened Festival of the Lion King Show, looks identical to it’s former layout, but boasts some improvements for this incredibly popular show.

While you cannot notice them, the major changes backstage are what makes this new Harambe Theatre so great. Now attached to the venue are rehearsal spaces and enhanced backstage areas which make the show run better from a back-of-house perspective.

You can find the new Harambe Theatre just over the bridge in Africa and to your left at the newly renovated Dawa Bar outside of the Tusker House Restaurant.

‘The Prime location of the new Harambe Theatre brings a new energy to the show and as well as the area around the area,’ says Reed Jones with Walt Disney Entertainment.

Theming is the name of the game in this new section of Harambe!

There are signs at the Dawa Bar that let you know that you have arrived at the Harambe Theatre.

Along the walls of this area are advertisements for local businesses and entertainment in Harambe.

My favorite spot in this new area, is the Festival of the Lion King marque which has a metal ‘quilt’ featuring a certain Lion we all love and some fun advertisements.

Once inside the queue for the Festival of the Lion King, you can find the wares of local craftsmen as you walk to your seats.

Also, located just before the Harambe Theatre is a new retail location where you can buy some of the new Festival of the Lion King merchandise.

New restrooms have also been built that have one of my other favorite pieces of theming!

Stroller Parking outside of the Harambe Theatre is much better than what it was at the former location in Camp Minnie Mickey!

There are plenty of spaces for strollers that are located near the exit of the Theatre, so there is less confusion and people crossing paths.

While I absolutely love this new area, I can only hope that they turn back on the geysers on Discovery River! I think it would bring a really fun kinetic to the waterway.

The new Harambe Theatre is also home to Harambe Nights this summer!

LEGOLAND Florida plays host for a second consecutive year to Cartoon Network’s MOVE IT MOVEMENT Tour on August 9^th & 10^th. The summertime traveling event targets youth 6-14 and their parents, presented in partnership with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition and in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. The 19-market tour will end at LEGOLAND Florida, giving guests new sport-themed activities only available during this exciting two-day event. The MOVE IT MOVEMENT Tour is included with park admission.

Orlando City SC announced today that season tickets are now on sale to the general public for the Club’s inaugural Major League Soccer (MLS) season in 2015.

In celebration of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which also kicks-off today, all season tickets purchased prior to the end of the tournament on July 15 will feature a one-time only 30 to 35 percent reduction on single match ticket prices.

Tickets can be purchased by calling an Orlando City season ticket representative at 855-ORL-CITY or by visiting www.2015tix.com.

“As a heartfelt thanks to all our fans for helping us reach Major League Soccer, we wanted to provide special discounted pricing during the World Cup,” said Orlando City President Phil Rawlins. “Next season will be a historic season for Orlando City in Major League Soccer and we can’t wait for our fans to experience all the excitement.”

Starting at $16 per match, the 2015 season ticket packages include 20 matches, consisting of 17 MLS Regular Season games and three additional fixtures (e.g., international friendlies, U.S. Open Cut, etc.). All 2015 Season Ticket Members will receive priority right to purchase 2016 Season Tickets for the new downtown MLS stadium.

In addition, all 2015 Season Ticket Members will be able to be relocated to similar seating in the new stadium in 2016.

Set to open prior to the beginning of the 2016 MLS season, Orlando City’s downtown soccer stadium will hold approximately 19,500 seats. Renderings were released for first time earlier this week and can be viewed via:www.OrlandoCitySC.com.

For Orlando City’s 2015 season in MLS, the Lions will utilize the lower-bowl of the newly reconstructed Orlando Citrus Bowl, creating a comparable environment and seating capacity to what Season Ticket Members will experience at City’s permanent home in 2016.
