Star Wars Weekends 2014: May 16 – 18, 2014

Star Wars Weekends

The first Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios begins tomorrow, and with so many great things happening during this special event I thought I would summarize what you will find going on!

Admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is required for Star Wars Weekends, and availability is limited for some events so get to your destination early! Also listen for updates throughout the day as events may be cancelled at any time!

Star Wars Weekends: May 16 – 18, 2014

Scheduled Celebrity Appearances

A highlight of Star Wars Weekends is having the chance to get an autograph from an actual Star Wars Celebrity around Echo Lake! Be warned though, this is not something everyone will be able to do so make sure you choose your celebrity wisely and get there extremely early!

Disney FASTPASS Ticket Required
An extremely limited number of FASTPASS tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis at the main entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, to the right of the turnstiles. Based on demand, distribution may begin prior to Park opening. Please note: You must have a FASTPASS ticket to receive an autograph.

To receive a FASTPASS ticket:

  • Join the line of the celebrity you would most like to meet. You may not save a place in line for other party members.
  • While in line, you will receive a wristband. Your wristband along with your theme park ticket or pass will entitle you to receive one autograph FASTPASS ticket. Only one autograph FASTPASS ticket will be distributed per Guest. Each Guest must be present to receive a FASTPASS ticket. You may not get FASTPASS tickets for other members of your party.

After receiving your FASTPASS ticket, continue to wear your wristband. You will need to be wearing your wristband to get an autograph.

Your FASTPASS ticket will have a designated autograph return time. Until that time, you may enjoy other Star Wars Weekends activities. At your designated time, proceed to the Celebrity Autograph Location at Echo Lake to show your wristband and present your FASTPASS ticket.

Once FASTPASS tickets for visiting celebrities are distributed, we may distribute a limited number of “stand-by” tickets with a return time. “Stand-by” tickets do not guarantee you an autograph.

Please note: Receiving a FASTPASS ticket for an autograph at Star Wars Weekend will not restrict you from reserving access with FastPass+ for additional attractions, entertainment and more at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Pick Six: Watching The Festival Of Fantasy Parade

The Festival of Fantasy Parade debuted at the Magic Kingdom earlier this Spring, and it has been a hit!

Festival of Fantasy Anna Elsa Olaf

The parade features a new (and crazy catchy song) with amazing costumes and floats that is a celebration of Fantasyland and its many inhabitants.

Festival of Fantasy

The garden of Disney Princesses float leads off the Festival of Fantasy Parade starring Cinderella, Belle, Tiana, and Elsa & Anna (and of course Olaf). The float has sections that spin so that everyone can catch a glimpse of their favorite Disney Princess. You will also notice that the original song is mixed with each character’s song. It is a great touch!

Festival of Fantasy

Next Flynn Rider and Rapunzel from Tangled swing on the streets in search of the “best day ever”. The performers on this float are amazing, and I get tired just looking at them!

Festival of Fantasy

Then we go under-the-sea with a jubilee starring Ariel, Sebastian, and an enchanted ocean ensemble from The Little Mermaid atop a sparkling music box. This is the shortest and smallest portion of the Festival of Fantasy Parade. It is really cute, but I wish there was a little bit more to the float.

Festival of Fantasy

Peter and Wendy from Peter Pan come soaring through the sky aboard a pirate galleon perched on a sparkly rainbow pursued by Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and Tick-Tock the Crocodile. The Lost Boys are really what make this section of the Festival of Fantasy Parade so great for me! They have great interaction with the crowd and their choreography is perfect.

Festival of Fantasy

When you see the Scottish Dancers, you know that Merida from Brave accompanied by her triplet “bear” brothers are headed your way on top of a gigantic bagpipe. The bears are my favorite part of this float, because their spirit from the movie is captured so well.

Festival of Fantasy

Following Merida is Maleficent as a fire-breathing, clockwork dragon rolling down the street your jaw will absolutely drop!!! Before she arrives you will see Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather flying around as Prince Phillip uses his mighty Sword of Truth to take on Maleficents henchmen. This section is by far the most amazing part of any parade I have ever seen! You will be spellbound by the floating trio, amazing henchman costumes, fight choreography, and Maleficent herself. It is stunning to watch.

Festival of Fantasy

The Festival of Fantasy finale features high-flying fun with Mickey and Minnie in a giant hot-air balloon, plus a cavalcade of beloved Disney Characters from Pinocchio to Snow White. Make sure you take your time and look at each and every bit of the finale floats that you can, because details and characters can be found everywhere! I feel like I spot something new every time I watch the parade!

Festival of Fantasy

I couldn’t end this post without sharing some of my favorite tips about watching the Festival of Fantasy Parade!

Festival of Fantasy

Pick Six: Festival of Fantasy Parade Watching Tips

1. Look up to pick your spot!

Festival of Fantasy

A lot of the action on the Festival of Fantasy parade floats takes place above you, so make sure you look up to pick your spot to watch!

2. Best places to watch

Festival of Fantasy

I like to watch the Festival of Fantasy from the hub, so if you can try to watch the parade from the Fastpass+ area! Another great spot is right in front of Town Hall, because without a curb it makes for a more up close experience.

3. FIRE!

Festival of Fantasy

Yes the Maleficent float breathes fire, but she doesn’t do it all of the time! Make sure you listen for the musical cue of a large build up and she will also raise her head up very high.

4. Taking Pictures

Festival of Fantasy

Since a lot of the action and characters in the parade are up high, you are going to want to make sure that you are not standing in a place where the sun is in front of you.

5. Front Row

Festival of Fantasy

If you can clear your schedule and get to your parade viewing spot early I would! Being front row for Festival of Fantasy is the best!

6. CAUTION!!!

Festival of Fantasy

YOU WILL SING THE FESTIVAL OF FANTASY SONG OVER AND OVER AND OVER! It’s not as bad as ‘Boo to You’, but it’s really close!

Festival of Fantasy

The Festival of Fantasy runs daily in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. It steps off in Frontierland at 3:00 pm, but make sure to check your times guide and listen for updates in case of inclement weather.

Harry Potter And The Escape From Gringotts Details Revealed Today

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts LogoHarry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts Details, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Construction, and Today Show Sweepstakes Details

It is really imagine that the London Embankment of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley will soon welcome guests as they prepared to ride Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

Earlier today the Universal Orlando Resort revealed some photos and video that shared some details about Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts that are amazing.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

In Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts riders join Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they break into one of the most guarded places in the wizarding world, Gringotts Bank, to retrieve a magical object that will help defeat Lord Voldemort. It is going to be like jumping into the movie, and I have goosbumps just thinking about it!!!

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

During the attraction you will be able to tour Gringotts bank and pass through the marble hall where you’ll see goblins hard at work, race through a labyrinth of underground Gringotts vaults, and encounter the villainous Death Eater, Bellatrix Lestrange, as she attempts to send you to your doom

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is a multi-dimensional, multi-sensory attraction that has thrills integrated with revolutionary technology.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

The attraction utilizes 360-degree themed sets, 4K digital high-definition animation, state-of-the-art 3-D Infitec projection systems, and live special effects with appearances by beloved characters to create breathtaking moments from the Harry Potter books and films.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts will change the way you think about theme park attractions,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. “We’ve created an entirely new type of ride that propels guests into the story like never before, and guests will remember it long after their visit to Diagon Alley.”

Working closely with Stuart Craig and his production team, Universal’s Creative Team has built an attraction that looks beyond amazing.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

The things that I am most excited about seeing are the 60 foot, firebreathing Unkranian Ironbelly dragon that will sit atop Gringotts Wizarding Bank in Diagon Alley, the goblin animatronics, and coming face-to-face with He Who Must Not Be Named.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

No opening date has been set for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, but we will definitely let you know as soon as we do!!!

Until then make sure you are tuning into the the Today Show from today until May 18, 2014, because they are giving away 25 trips to be at the Grand Opening! You can find all the information you need about the contest here!

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

And if that’s not enough to keep you excited, here are a few pictures that I snapped yesterday of the London Embankment construction. The work that they are doing is gorgeous!!!

Exploring The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Sign

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the final and centerpiece attraction of New Fantasyland to open on May 28th at the Magic Kingdom, and I was almost giddy with anticipation to ride at the Walt Disney World Mine Train Event.

Not long after I moved to Orlando, construction began on New Fantasyland and having the opportunity to experience this attraction after watching it being built was amazing.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a family coaster that oozes charm with mild thrills (between Big Thunder Mountain and Barnstormer), an entertaining interactive queue, and story that not only showcases the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but next generation animatronics that are stunning.

When you first walk up to the Seven Dwarf Mine Train, the first thing that you notice is just how beautiful the queue is! The pathway is lined with trees (and fans) to help give some shade while you wait, and at night the area is lit just enough so you can see while not taking away from how a forest would feel at night.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Cottage

Hands down my absolute favorite part of the queue are the three interactive areas, which you find once you have entered the mine’s wooden tunnel.

Doc has prepared a series of mining stations for us to explore while we are waiting.

  • Jewel Sorting – Follow Doc’s instructions, etched into a nearby plank, and help match jewels by color and shape as they flow down a wooden trough—a.k.a. dozens of touch-screen video displays. Watch out for the slippery bars of soap that appear out of no where!!!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Jewel Washing

  • Jewel Washing – After the jewels are sorted, grab ahold of a musical water spigot and start cleaning. Each spigot plays its own melody—heed Doc’s tips and you may hear a collection of familiar tunes! When you are running your hands under the spigots, it helps to think of it as playing a harp rather than holding your hand under a tap.
  • The Vault – Inside the door of the mountain, enter the center of the vault to find a collection of wooden barrels overflowing with glowing stones. Turn each barrel to see the ceiling above you transformed, and get all of the barrels going at once for a really great surprise.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Signs

If you are using FastPass+ for this attraction, which is already available on My Disney Experience, you will skip all of these interactive elements and hop right in after The Vault. If it is a slower day or if you have time, I would totally suggest taking the scenic route.

Once you have made it to The Vault, you will notice that you are in the mine! Once your eyes adjust to the darkness make sure to a moment to look around, because the detail that has been lovingly poured into this attraction is amazing! The carved wood and miner’s equipment laying around is such a great touch.

Well, now we have come to the part that we have all been waiting on for many a long year…and that is the ride itself!

The first thing I noticed about the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is that loads quickly and efficiently. You can bring your bags on the ride, and there is a reasonably sized pouch if you would like to use it to stow your items.

The ride doesn’t waste any time, going right into twists and turns that really put a spotlight on the innovative mine train cars.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Front Car

The track is definitely designed with the rocking motion of the mine train cars in mind, but just because they sway doesn’t mean that this is a bumpy ride by any means. There are five cars per train, and there is a difference in where you ride. The first two cars are probably my favorite, because you can feel the sway the most and get the most visually from the track.  Cars two and three are much more mild on the rocking, but the fourth car steps it up a little. And the final car is just a lot of fun, because you are whipped all over the track while rocking at a steady pace.

In the middle of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train you head inside to the mine, where you are greeted with some stunning animatronics! Their new animated faces are amazing, and their movement is fluid and wonderful.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Animatronic

And before you know it, you are being called back to work whizzing down the most thrilling drop of the coaster before heading into some fun curves.

The ride ends with a familiar scene from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that features pieces from Snow White’s Scary Adventure. I don’t want to talk too much about the end of the ride, because it is a great cherry on top of what is already a solid ride.

If I do have a ‘Best Tip’ for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, it is that you should definitely ride it at night. On my nighttime rides I felt like the queue was more stunning, the animatronics popped more, and the views of New Fantasyland from the coaster are great!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Cottage at Dusk

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a solid attraction, with mild thrills and memorable moments. I cannot wait for everyone to take a spin!

Can’t wait for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train to open on May 28th? Check out the Miners Wanted Game, and then you can get your own Miners Handbook!

Disclaimer: I was an invited by the Walt Disney World Resort to receive a sneak peek at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as part of a media event, however all opinions and thoughts are my own.

Orlando City SC Still At The Top

Orlando City SC Secures Draw Against Rochester to Remain at the Top of the League

Defender Luke Boden provided the equalizer for the Lions midway through the second half

Orlando City SC (6-0-3, 21 points) secured a crucial 1-1 draw against the Rochester Rhinos (2-1-4, 10 points) at Sahlen Stadium on Saturday night. After going down late in the first half, Defender Luke Boden provided the equalizer midway through the second half.

Heading into the match against Rochester, Head Coach Adrian Heath had to utilize his roster with the Lions playing exactly 24 hours earlier in. Prior to the two-game road trip, the English manager expressed his unhappiness with playing back-to-back to matches but stated that securing at least four points would suffice.

After coming away with a 3-1 win in Pennsylvania last night, City lacked imagination in the first half and seemed to be playing for a draw.  Rochester would make things difficult for the Lions when they went ahead late in the first half.

Rochester took the lead in the 34th minute when J.C. Banks cut inside and whipped a ball into the box for Tyler Rosenlund, who nodded it to the back-post leaving Carl Woszczynski with no chance.

Rochester Goalkeeper John McCarthy’s first save of the night came in the 54th minute, when Sporting Kansas City loanee Mikey Lopez got onto the end of a cross from Corey Hertzog. The midfielder was unmarked at the back-post but struggled to put much on his header and McCarthy was able to make a comfortable save.

After struggling to create many clear-cut chances in the first half, Orlando looked much sharper in the opening portion of the second half and would eventually breakthrough in the 62nd minute.

Defender Luke Boden pounced on the ball after a poor clearance from the Rhinos defense and tucked away his second goal of the season.

Heath made a few attacking changes to push for a winning goal, but Boden’s finish would prove to be the final goal of the match, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

City will now return back to Orlando to begin preparing for its second round Lamar Hunt Open Cup match against Premier Development League (PDL) side Ocala Stampede on Wednesday, May 14, at Seminole Soccer Complex.

The Lions will return back to league play when they travel west to take on Arizona United SC on Saturday, May 17.

Falling For Ihu’s Breakaway Falls At Aquatica

Ihu's Breakaway Falls

Ihu’s Breakaway Falls – Aquatica

Ihu’s Breakaway Falls at Aquatica is open and asking guests if they are #BreakawayBrave!

At nearly 80 feet tall, Ihu’s Breakaway Falls is Orlando’s tallest, steepest and only multi-drop tower slide of its kind.  Offering four unique slide paths, you’ll step into one of three “breakaway boxes” and watch each other fall one-by-one or test your bravery on a fourth open slide for a different but just as thrilling experience.

Ihu's Breakaway Falls

We had the opportunity to drop by Ihu’s Breakaway Falls before it opened, and while I chickened out Kelly and Dave had an absolute blast on the slides.

There are three Breakaway Box slides and one open slide on Ihu’s 80ft Tower.

Drop more than three stories and slide for 420 feet, the longest of the four slides, on the orange slide.

The green slide path has the shortest drop, but it’s still a 28-foot fall – that’s the same as four seven-foot tall basketball players!

Fall from the blue slide if you’re looking for the steepest slide with a breakaway box.

While the purple slide isn’t a true drop slide, it is by no means a “chicken slide”. In fact, this open-aired slide is the steepest of all four slides.

And once you are in your breakaway box the anticipation truly begins! All three boxes face each other, and each has their own countdown and heartbeat  so you have no idea when you or the other riders will drop at 20-24 feet per second down the slide.

Ihu's Breakaway Falls

Dave tried all three breakaway box slides, and couldn’t get back up the stairs fast enough to try them again! His favorite slide was the orange slide, which is the longest of the three slides, and his best piece of advice is to keep your arms and legs crossed as you stay more streamline and go faster.

Ihu's Breakaway Falls

Kelly was crazier, and in addition to the breakaway slides she gave the purple open slide a try. She warns not to be fooled one bit by the purple side!!!

Ihu's Breakaway Falls

Guests brave enough to take the challenge must be at least 48″ (1.22 m) tall. Jewelry, life vests, cotton shirts or sports / non-swimwear shorts, and footwear of any kind may not be worn on this slide. Cameras of any kind are also not permitted. All loose items must be left with a non-rider. Guests must be able to maintain proper riding position. Maximum rider weight is 300 lbs (136 kg), and is for single riders only.

Ihu's Breakaway Falls

Remember that if you can find special deals for a day in the park when buy your Aquatica tickets online!

Disney Vacation Club – Membership Magic – Me Time Magic

entrance

As one of the new features of Disney Vacation Club membership magic was added earlier this year.  One of the new events was to feature the Spa discount and came with some extra benefits on certain nights.   A few months ago, I decided to try the spa.  I called member services to make my appointment, and then checked in at Saratoga on my appointment day.

One of the features for Facials was: Facial Enhancements with a choice of one of the following,

  • Bright Eyes – Reduce fine lines, relieve puffy and stressed eyes, and target dark circles and signs of fatigue as you re-energize the eye area.
  • Hydrating Lip Treatment – Gently erase dryness and fine lines during a hydrating and plumping experience sure to leave your lips looking voluptuous and youthful.
  • Hand Brightener – Turn back the hands of time with this lightening, brightening hand treatment as you naturally say goodbye to hyper pigmentation and darks spots.
  • Facial Boost – Customize your facial for specific areas of concern with one of 4 Facial Boosters, including: Firming Booster (eases the signs of aging), Anti-Blemish Booster (eases the signs of acne), Anti-Redness Booster (especially for Rosacea) and Lightening Booster (lightens pigmentation).

I chose a Facial Boost, the Anti-Blemish Booster.

It had been a long time since I had visited the Spa at Saratoga Springs,  so I noticed that initially when you arrive it reminds you of the spa from Disney Cruise line.  I was greeted and given a tour of the facility.

After changing I went into their relaxation room, which is a quiet serene area with chairs, muffins and water.
I got comfortable and then was called in by the Esthetician.

IMG_3280

We walked around the hall to the treatment room.  The Esthetician left while i changed and went into the treatment bed. Once I was ready she asked me which boost I wanted and started the facial.  Before she started the facial she used a Clarisonic to clean my face and then she did almost 3 times worth of masks and treatments. The red rose facial was my favorite since it was featured and it smelled wonderful!

After I was done, I was escorted back to the relaxation room but I couldn’t stay since Todd was waiting for me.  I went back and changed and then back to the lobby.  When I checked out I learned that you can come early for your appointment and enjoy the whirlpool and sauna and relaxation room.  I also learned that there is a day pass for about $20 for the spa so that you can go for just some relaxation.

I paid and was given a card that had a thank you since tip was already added and had product recommendations.

The only weird thing was the Red Rose products were not recommended, since they were featured I expected them to be.  I also was asked to take an additional survey for the Disney Vacation Club event.  The cast were very excited about this. After my survey I left to meet Todd and my relaxation time was over.

Overall while the cost is slightly higher than other places, I found the facial to be worth it since there were so many amenities and its a great way to take some time to relax.  The cost was $150 for the facial plus 20% tip, but as a Disney Vacation Club member I received a 15% discount and the facial boost that was complementary was valued at $25.

I hope Disney Vacation Club will continue these events, they are a great perks to membership.

Facing the Yeti at Expedition Everest Challenge 2014

On May 3rd, I ran in my fourth Expedition Everest Challenge. This race will always be special to me for a few reasons. First, it was my very first runDisney race back in 2011. My mom and I ran in a mother/daughter team and we had a blast. Of course I was hooked on races after that and have run in 11 others since then (plus I’m signed up for two more this year).

Meeting Pluto in 2011
Meeting Pluto in 2011

Also at that fateful race in 2011, I met some very special friends. I knew a bunch of people that I knew from Twitter were also running so I thought it would be a great time to meet some of them in person for the first time. One of those people is now my fiancé, Cliff! In fact, we got engaged at the Everest Challenge race last year. So, I guess you can see why this race is important to me. It’s one that I will always sign up for, even though they’ve significantly raised the price in recent years.

With Cliff back where we first met

The Expedition Everest Challenge is a night race and features a 5k course through Animal Kingdom with a few obstacles along the way. After the 5k comes the scavenger hunt where you have to make your way back through the park while solving clues given to you at certain checkpoints. You can run the race in teams of two or as an individual. My mom and I always run this together and I think we make a pretty great team!

Since this is a smaller race with an after party going into the wee hours of the morning, we like to drive ourselves to the start. We got there around 8:00PM because we always like to get to races early. Only problem with that this year is that it started raining pretty steadily. It was also a little chilly for us Floridians! So we sat in the car for a while. Once the rain let up we headed to the staging area to check our bag and hang out to people watch. There are always some pretty great costumes at this race!

When it was time to go to our corrals, we said bye to Cliff (mom and I were in H and Cliff was in E), and headed to our pens for more waiting. There were 6 minutes between corral starts so we had a lot of waiting….in the cool damp weather. The DJ and hosts did a pretty good job at keeping us moving though.

At 10;42, Corral H was off and we began the worst part of the race: running around the perimeter of the Animal Kingdom parking lot. Towards the end of this section, we hit our first obstacle: hay bales. You always have the option of running around the obstacles. Mom usually does because she injured her knee the first year.

Finally we made it to the park entrance and Mile 1! At this point we also merged with racers who had completed the 5k and were beginning the scavenger hunt portion. This was the only time we really ran into congestion because the scavenger hunt people were stopping on course to solve clues. Once we got more into the park, there were separate lanes set up for runners so it got better.

We continued through the park, past the Tree of Life and headed toward Africa. Once in Harambe, we turned right to go to Asia. Usually right after this point we head backstage, but this year we kept going through Asia and past Everest to backstage near the Nemo theater. Loved this change!

Once backstage, we soon hit our second obstacle: tires! (and mile 2!)

Running backstage is kind of a blur because there aren’t any familiar landmarks to orient myself with. About a mile later we rounded a corner and saw our final obstacle: a cargo net to crawl under.

Just after that was the finish line for the 5k and we received our first clue and a cool marker/flashlight combo!

The scavenger hunt brought us back into the park. There were 5 total clues. We had a little trouble with the first two, especially the second one. The last 3 we solved pretty quickly and we finished the hunt in about 30 minutes. I edited the pictures of the clues so you can see if you know the answers. I’ll post the answers at the end of the post. If you click on the pictures, you can see them bigger.

Once we received our awesome compass medals, we met back up with Cliff and headed back into the park for the after party!

Food was first on the agenda. Then we caught part of the awards ceremony in Dinoland where we were introduced to the yeti. We also paid a quick visit to our engagement spot!

Soon we decided we were tired and ready to head back to the hotel.

I would definitely recommend this race to anyone looking for a different runDisney experience. We always have a great time and being in Animal Kingdom at night is a treat itself. Also, each year it seems runDisney makes small changes that keep improving the experience. I will, of course, continue to run it as long as it is being offered. See you next year, Yeti!

Star Wars Galactic Dine-In Breakfast

Star Wars Galactic Dine-In

Everyday from 8 am until noon, the Sci Fi Dine-In is transformed for the Star Wars Galactic Dine-In, and for Star Wars fans this needs to be on your must do list.

I will be honest, the breakfast is a little pricey at $47.99 for adults and $29.99 for kids before tax and gratuities. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan, you will need to allot two table service credits for this experience. And the real bummer is that there are absolutely no discounts available!

However that being said we would (and hopefully will) go back to the Star Wars Galactic Dine-In, because we had a great experience with the service, food, and characters who we would normally have to spend time finding during Star Wars Weekends.

After you are called to go to your table, you first take a photo with Darth Vader and Boba Fett. What is really great is that with your meal a digital photo of your party is included with a commemorative PhotoPass card that you can only get at the Star Wars Galactic Dine-In. We also really appreciated that there were several character attendants who were able to help us take photos on our phones, and they didn’t mind when we took a little extra time for some selfies.

Star Wars Galactic Dine-In

The first thing that we noticed when we sat down was that the normal Sci Fi reel of movies had been replaced with at Star Wars loop of extended film clips, created bits with characters, a nice peek at Star Wars Weekends with James Arnold Taylor, and even a hefty chunk of the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. It was awesome!

Star Wars Galactic Dine-In

The menu has some really great, but really different options for breakfast. As you can see below there aren’t too may breakfast entrees, so I would definitely suggest trying to go a little on the later side so it can be more of a brunch than a breakfast. Also…BLUE MILK!!!!

Here is the menu…

During breakfast at the Star Wars Galactic Dine-In there are three characters meet and greet opportunities that come to your table. Jawas, Stormtroopers, and Greedo come to your table, but as you know Sci Fi is SUPER dark so taking photos requires a flash or some assistance from someone’s flashlight app.

Star Wars Galactic Dine-In

My biggest tip for these character interactions is to have fun! While I love the Stormtroopers, the Jawas are the best because you can trade with them!!!

Star Wars Galactic Dine-In

All-in-all we all had an awesome time at the Star Wars Galactic Dine-In, and we can’t wait to try dinner at The Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Hollywood and Vine this weekend!
