Grammy®, Latin Grammy and multiple Billboard Music award-winner Enrique Iglesias is one of the most successful Latin music and pop crossover artists of all-time, with over 100 million albums sold worldwide, and an astounding 24 number one Hot Latin Songs  – the most, by far, in the history of the chart.  His ability to craft captivating global hits transcends genres and languages as Enrique has also notched 13 number one tracks on the Billboard Dance Charts (the most of any male artist), and multiple hits atop the Hot 100, as well.  Likewise, Enrique’s new album “Sex and Love” has added to his tally of seven number one titles on the “Top Latin Albums” chart. This new release has already resulted in five more consecutive number one singles, including the propulsive and seductively confessional smash “I’m a Freak,” which once again pairs Enrique with his tour partner Pitbull. The track is a fan favorite follow-up to their 2012 collaboration “I Like It” from Enrique’s previous multi-platinum and chart-topping album “Euphoria”.

This year he was also selected along with Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte to perform the official anthem “We Are One (Ole Ola)” at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Pitbull is also a burgeoning business entrepreneur with Voli, his own line of premium, light vodkas, a partnership with Sheets, the dissolvable energy strip, as well as premier fragrances for men and women simply titled Pitbull. These ventures along with major sponsorship deals with blue-chip brands like Bud Light, Dr. Pepper, Kodak, and Dodge, plus a television production deal announced with Endemol North America, and a strategic partnership with Playboy Enterprises that was unveiled in the music video for his new global smash hit “Wild Wild Love” featuring G.R.L. clearly define Pitbull as Mr. Worldwide.

Described as the leading next-generation Latin-urban star “bringing dembow back to the international dance floor,” J Balvin’s recently released first album, “La Familia,” debuted at number one in his native Colombia and quickly went multi-platinum. The record and its first two singles have also been a steady, growing presence in the Top 10 of iTunes U.S. Latin sales and on Latin radio playlists across the country as well.  In fact, this month has seen Balvin’s new single “6 am quickly ascend to number one on Billboard’s “Tropical Airplay” chart while racking up nearly five million YouTube views in just over a week. Additional fans also discovered the charismatic performer through his recent collaboration with Robin Thicke and Pharrell on the Latin American version of “Blurred Lines.”  With a strong fan base also developing across Europe – where he was just named Best International Artist of the Year at Romania’s ZU Awards – Balvin already boasts a social media following of over 10 million fans.

Top Ten Tips for attending Food Truck Nights!

YumYum food truck

YumYum

If you have never eaten from a local Food Truck before, specifically one in Orlando, then you are missing out! There are many amazing gourmet trucks to be found, from BBQ, to Sushi, to burgers, to dessert trucks, there are many options for you to try! The best way to be able to try a range of all they offer is to attend a food truck night. A lot of local communities have organized monthly food truck events now, or there are food truck bazaars that travel around major locations around central Florida bringing a huge selection of trucks to your local Malls or Downtown areas.

Sweet City Gelato

Sweet City Gelato

My husband and I love to go round to the food truck events, so I thought for those of you who haven’t done that before, that I would compile a list of tips for attending a food truck night. I could think of many, but I will keep it to just 10 so it can hopefully help start you off, in descending order…

Tip Number 10:

Look up ahead of time where your nearest Food Truck event will be. A quick search online will lead you to many sites that will list where they are and when.

Tip Number 9:

Come Hungry! Sounds silly but you will find so many dishes you will want to try, from all different trucks, so bring your hunger and prepare to be amazed at what you will find.

Melissa's Chicken & Waffles

Melissa’s Chicken & Waffles

Tip Number 8:

Bring chairs and/or tables. This is something you may not think would be useful, but these events can take place among lake sides, parking lots, downtown areas, and many do not have any seats available. Bringing chairs, or even blankets, mean you can hang out more and relax while you try your selections. This is especially helpful if you have children or elderly friends or family members who would prefer the comfort of a chair and table.

Tip Number 7:

Bring friends or family! If you come in groups, it means everyone can maximize their options as you can split dishes and get to try things that normally you wouldn’t get to if you were only choosing one item.

Korean BBQ Box Korean BBQ Box Truck

Korean BBQ Taco Box

Tip Number 6:

Bring an umbrella in the car or in your bag with you. Many food truck nights take place during the summer months in which we have our torrential downpours in the afternoons/early evenings. Most of these nights the trucks continue come rain or shine, so don’t let the rain put you off!

Tip Number 5:

Bring cash or cards. The majority of the trucks accept cash and credit cards now, so no need to stop at the ATM if you don’t have cash, just bring a major credit card and you’ll be good to go! Many will even email the receipt directly to you, and you can even add gratuity to these also.

Kona Dog

Kona Dog

Tip Number 4:

Don’t stop at the first truck you see, its true that you will most likely find options at every truck you like the sound of, but walk around all the trucks first and see what they have. You will be surprised how many options there are, and for many diets too!

Tip Number 3:

Do you own a dog? Bring them with you! Not only may your dog love to socialize with the others there, but there are sometimes dog specialty food trucks also, featuring organic treats and refreshments for your best friend!

Fork In The Road

Fork In The Road

Tip Number 2:

Arrive early to avoid lines! Many food truck nights can get very busy, especially ones close to downtown areas where people can walk by on their way home from work. Getting there at the beginning of the night is always best if you can, the later it gets the longer the lines get, and since most of the items are cooked fresh for you, there may be a long wait if you arrive later on.

Tip Number 1:

Social media! Many, if not all, of the food trucks use social media to get the word out about not only which locations they will be in, but also what new menu items they will feature and any special offers going on. Its also a great way to keep in touch with your favorite truck, or to ask any questions ahead of time. They tend to monitor them closely so don’t expect a long wait to hear back from them, whether its Twitter, Facebook or emailing, they will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. If you look at the trucks, many will have decals and wraps stating how to contact them online.

Lakeside at Berkshire Park

Now all that is left for you to do is start looking up where your local food truck event is. Whether it’s in Orlando, Chicago or L.A, there are many out there to find, you will not be disappointed! Good luck and remember….arrive hungry!

Fun Toon Lagoon Shirts

Universal’s Islands of Adventure Toon Lagoon is full of interactive spots, and as I was strolling the shops of Comic Book Lane I found some really fun Toon Lagoon shirts!

I love Toon Lagoon so much, because it takes me back to when I was a little girl who scooped up the funny pages before my Papa could get to them on Sunday mornings!

These shirts can be found in the Toon Extra shop, and while they are a little tongue-in-cheek and even a tad bit racy they cracked me up.

All of the shirts are made of 100% cotton and are really thick shirts that are a nice quality!

Also at $21.95, I felt like they were a good value for theme park shirts.

What do you think?

Orlando City SC Continues Run

Orlando City SC Defeats OKC Energy FC 2-1, Continues Undefeated Run

Dennis Chin and Kevin Molino score, City remains in first place in USL PRO

Continuing its winning ways, Orlando City SC (4-0-2, 14 points) defeated expansion side OKC Energy FC (2-3-0, 6 points) 2-1 at Pribil Stadium on Saturday night. The victory puts City in control of first place in USL PRO, three points clear of LA Galaxy II.

Saturday night’s match marked Oklahoma City Energy FC’s inaugural home game, featuring a sell-out crowd. Despite the match being the first ever between the two sides, both Orlando and OKC share a connection, as the Energy is coached by former Sporting Kansas City Captain Jimmy Nielsen, who included former Orlando City players Jon Kempin and Kevin Ellis in the line-up.

City, on the other hand, was without two of its key players due to Rob Valentino suffering an injury earlier this week against FC Dallas and Darwin Ceren heading back to Orlando for personal matters.

As a result, the first 15 minutes featured a more direct approach from City, rather than their usual possession-oriented style, and OKC was arguably the better side.

Energy FC Midfielder Peabo Doue got in behind on two separate occasions, but a well-timed challenge from 18-year-old Defender Tyler Turner and a key save from veteran Miguel Gallardo kept the scoreline level.

The Lions’ first quality chance wouldn’t occur until the 23rd minute when the club’s first MLS signing employed a bit of trickery to skip past OKC center-halves Gareth Evans and Mark Howard. The Trinidadian International then played a crafty ball to Chin who had his final effort saved by Kempin.

But, just one minute later Chin would redeem himself by finding the back of the net from a deep ball played by Yordany Alvarez.

After an initial save from Kempin, the striker pounced on the rebound and tucked away his second goal of the season.

With the early goal secured, City took control of the game and created a flurry of  close chances in the final minutes of the first half.

The elements played a part in the match as both teams had to adjust to the windy conditions on hand.

City played with the wind in the first half but was forced to play against strong gusts in the second 45, making it difficult for the Lions to have any sort of aerial play.

Nevertheless, City would find their groove in the second half and attack relentlessly. In the 56th minute, Molino scored his fourth goal of the season after intercepting a poor back pass from Mark Howard.

The finish puts Molino’s tally to four in as many games, with the midfielder leading the team in goals so far this season. In his three previous seasons with City, Molino has never scored more than two goals in each campaign.

Deep into stoppage time, OKC scored their first-ever home goal when substitute Stephen Perry was able to get on the scoresheet.

The Lions will now return back to Orlando and prepare for their home leg of the I-4 Derby, presented by United World Soccer. The match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

About Dan + Shay

Ten Times Crazier Tour

Nashville newcomers Dan + Shay became the most added new duo of 2013 at country radio with their breakout debut hit “19 You + Me.” Already Top 20 on the charts after only 13 weeks, the track was written by the pair along with Nashville songwriter Danny Orton.

The nostalgic feel-good single is the first track from their forthcoming album, due out later this year on Warner Bros. Records. Made up of Dan Smyers, a Pittsburgh, PA native and Shay Mooney, originally of Natural Dam, AR, the two realized they had a special musical connection after meeting at a party at Smyers’ house, in his tented out living room only one year ago. What started as a late night jam session among new friends, led to daily writing sessions that resulted in songs which quickly caught the attention of publishers, label heads and radio programmers.

Written entirely by Smyers and Mooney, and co-produced by Smyers, Scott Hendricks and Orton, the duo are putting the finishing touches on the yet to be titled debut album. Dan + Shay are excited to bring their infectious original sound to fans on the upcoming Blake Shelton tour. The Many Roles of Sterling Holloway

Sterling Holloway
Sterling Holloway

Being the procrastinator that I am, I usually wait to write my posts until hours before they are published. Don’t get me wrong, there are cases in which I do plenty of research and plan things out days or weeks in advance, but those are outnumbered by the fly by the seat of my pants posts. I hope this isn’t necessarily evident in my writing, but I digress.

So, as I finished editing other posts I realized I didn’t have anything for myself. Needing background noise, I scrolled through the Disney Family Movies channel on demand and noticed they added the Jungle Book. I hadn’t seen it in a year or so and could listen to Louis Prima sing the phone book, so I started it.

Moments into the movie divine inspiration struck! I heard the unmistakable voice of Sterling Holloway. For many Disney fans, he is best known for his voice talents as that lovable stuffed with fluff Winnie the Pooh. I’m sure some are familiar with some of his other roles, but I thought I’d take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of his best known Disney voices.

The first role Sterling Holloway provided for Disney was that of the Messenger Stork in Dumbo in 1941. He delivers the cutest little baby elephant ever born to Mrs. Jumbo from the clouds above. His first role is short and sweet, but this is the one that started a forty plus year career with the Walt Disney Company.

Next up for the Georgia native was a bit more prominent role in the next Disney animated feature film. Sterling Holloway provided the adult voice of Flower in 1942’s Bambi. The most precious skunk you’ll ever encounter, Flower is one of Bambi’s best friends who also often pals around with Thumper.

During the war years, Walt made use of Sterling Holloway in several of his package films and shorts. Most notably, Sterling voiced Professor Holloway (the narrator) in The Three Caballeros. He also provided narration for Mickey and the Beanstalk, Peter and the Wolf, Lambert the Sheepish Lion and several other segments into the early 1950s like Susie the Little Blue Coupe. Walt liked Holloway so much he even used him in his crossover to television primarily in episodes of Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color.

The 1951 classic Alice in Wonderland featured Sterling Holloway in one of his most recognizable roles as the Cheshire Cat. This trickster is an enigma wrapped up in a riddle surrounded by mystery. He likes to lead Alice astray on her adventures in Wonderland and has a tendency to vanish into thin air.

By far, Sterling Holloway’s most notable role for Disney was as Winnie the Pooh fro 1966 to 1974. He voiced the best friend of Christopher Robin in three shorts: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too. These were repackaged and rereleased in 1977 as The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It is often difficult to hear Holloway’s voice in other roles and not to picture Pooh since they are so inextricably linked.

1967’s The Jungle Book brought Sterling Holloway his only villainous voice role for Disney (to my knowledge) in that of Kaa the snake. His hypnotic lullaby “Trust In Me” almost does poor Mowgli in, but Bagheera’s interruption saves the day. The boy is later truly hooked by the girl serenading him from the Man Village.

Roquefort in The Aristocats was one of Sterling Holloway’s last voice roles for Disney. In this 1970 film he plays a cute mouse who is the neighbor of Marie, Berlioz, Toulouse and Duchess. He lives in harmony with these cats, but seems to be afraid of most all other felines. Despite his fear, he plays an integral role is saving the kidnapped kittens.

Have you seen some or all of these roles voiced by Sterling Holloway? Which is your favorite? I have to go with Pooh, with the Cheshire Cat as a close second. Hope you enjoyed! Leave a message in the comments with your thoughts.
