Jurassic Park 3D In Theaters Now

Today is the day – Jurassic Park 3D is in theaters!

JP3D_TSR1SHT_RGB_1101_1

And guess what…when I got a chance to see Jurassic Park 3D a couple of weeks in advance of the release, it was my FIRST time ever seeing Jurassic Park!

I was terrified and jumped around in my seat more times than I care to EVER admit. Seeing the t-rex torture those poor kids in that car made me freak out. Omg, I’m getting panicky just thinking about it…moving on…

2422_TP_00104R

Jurassic Park is definitely one of the biggest movies that has ever been released and as hard as it is to believe, it’s celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year.

Another first for me was this was the first movie I’ve seen that’s been made into 3D. And it worked!

Steven Spielberg and his team did a great job remastering Jurassic Park into a 3D IMAX movie.

Universal Pictures will release Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking classic JURASSIC PARK in 3D on April 5, 2013. With his remastering of the epic into a state-of-the-art 3D format, Spielberg introduces the three-time Academy Award®-winning blockbuster to a new generation of moviegoers and allows longtime fans to experience the world he envisioned in a way that was unimaginable during the film’s original release.

Starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Samuel L. Jackson and Richard Attenborough, the film based on the novel by Michael Crichton is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R. Molen.

(The story from the Jurassic Park website)

Make sure to follow the movie’s Twitter stream to see fans reactions and join the 3+ million fans on Facebook!

Oh, want some wallpapers, Twitter backgrounds or Twitter icons? Go here.

Are you excited for this re-release? I bet it’s truly amazing in IMAX…though those t-rex scenes would probably make run out of the theater screaming!

Disney Film Project Podcast Review

Disney Film Project Podcast
Disney Film Project Podcast

Films, for those who aren’t aware, are some of my favorite things in the entire world. My affinity for almost all things Disney mostly stems from my love of Disney movies. From there it grew to parks, music, tv shows, and beyond, but for me, it all comes back to the big screen. Imagine my excitement when a little over two years ago I learned that friends of mine were putting together a podcast revolving around reviewing and critiquing Disney films! I have to admit that I was a tad jealous that I wasn’t involved in the podcast, but that soon dissipated.

The Disney Film Project, from whence the Podcast was born, started as the brainchild of owner and proprietor, Ryan Kilpatrick. He began the project with this as his goal: “This is my attempt to view all the Disney films, both shorts and features. Read along to see what I learn as I embark on this voyage, and see what I discover as we watch the true genius of Walt Disney.” Ryan would often conduct what he called tweetwatches in a FriendFeed chat room where he would live tweet a movie and a bunch of us would all press play and watch along at the same time. We would jump in to the chat with questions and comments in awe of Ryan’s often exhaustive research regarding the film we were watching.

Eventually, the project grew into what quickly became one of my favorite podcasts, the Disney Film Project Podcast. Ryan recruited a fantastic crew of film buffs to be his co-hosts in Briana Alessio, Todd Perlmutter and our very own Cheryl Perlmutter as the glue that holds them all together as the show producer. From the very first episode on Beauty and the Beast back in January of 2011 up to this weeks episode 117 featuring Mulan, it has been entertaining along the entire way.

Disney Film Project Podcast hosts
Disney Film Project Podcast hosts

The podcast typically focuses on one film per episode, whether live action, animated feature, direct to video sequel or even Disney Channel Original Movies. Occasionally there are episodes that cover a theme like Halloween specials or multiple films in one, but for the most part on average a good hour or so is devoted to a single film. Each week it is apparent the effort that goes in to this podcast from the hosts of the show and their amazing research skills (always try to find a Star Wars connection).

I am one of those crazy completionists, so I diligently watch each film a few days prior to listening to the upcoming episode so it is fresh in my mind. This has been an interesting task as some of the films have been downright awful (I’m talking to you Condorman, Inspector Gadget, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 1 & 2 (and I’m sure eventually 3) and Hunchback of Notre Dame II), but even in the movies that are laborious to watch, the podcast episodes still shine. Sometimes it is even more enjoyable to hear a film completely torn apart. Along with those notoriously not good films you of course encounter the gems of classics like Mary Poppins, Darby O’Gill and the Little People (with my personal favorite, Sean Connery!!!), Cinderella, and fan favorites like the Avengers.

One of my favorite things about the Disney Film Project Podcast is that I always learn something new, whether it is a film I’ve never seen before, or one like The Little Mermaid I’ve seen dozens of times. These four take their time and do their homework to bring something fresh and new to each episode they produce. I have been fortunate to be on two episodes of the podcast for Cinderella and Up. If you want to go back and start from the beginning, you can download the mp3s via iTunes. DFPP is also available for streaming via Stitcher radio on smartphones, through the podcast app subscription on ios devices, and also streaming directly from the Disney Film Project website.

If you are looking for a new podcast that will keep you well informed and entertained when it comes to the films of the Walt Disney Company, including subsidiaries like Pixar, Marvel and Touchstone, look no further than the Disney Film Project Podcast. Go listen to what the wonky sluices over there have cooking up on their blog with new movie reviews, for films new to Blu Ray, in theaters or on the Disney Channel. This is one podcast you should definitely give a chance if you are at all a fan of Disney films and desire to learn more or even just to see if you can guess what their ratings are and if they match yours. Head on over and check them out now!

Orlando Signs Former Goalkeeper Kelley, Gallardo Out 4-6 Weeks

Team adds familiar face as team captain out with injury

ORLANDO—Orlando City SC announced Wednesday that the team has signed former backup Goalkeeper Sean Kelley, pending USSF approval. The move comes as starting Goalkeeper and Team Captain Miguel Gallardo sustained a knee injury in training and will be out 4-6 weeks. The team begins the 2013 USL PRO season away against expansion franchise Phoenix FC on Sunday, April 7 with kickoff set for 10:30 p.m. EST.

“We hope Miguel has a speedy recovery,” said Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath. “But we are lucky to have Sean with us. He’s been with us and knows the team. It’s a great opportunity for him and it’s good to have him back.“

The Kentucky native appeared in four matches for the Lions in 2012, recording an 0.571 Goals Against Average (GAA) and two shutouts.

Kelley, along with new Sporting Kansas City loanee Jon Kempin, will have to fill in for the injured Gallardo for the beginning of the 2013 USL PRO season. Gallardo appeared in 21 games for the Lions in 2012, leading the league is GAA (.780) while recording eight clean sheets. The 2011 USL PRO Goalkeeper of the Year holds the record for clean sheets in a season with 11 in 2011.

Kickoff for the game is set for 10:30 p.m. EST as the Lions look to capture their third straight USL PRO regular season title.

The Lions begin the regular season with a head of steam after concluding the 2013 preseason, which wrapped up Saturday night as Orlando captured the I-4 Derby presented by United World Soccer against 2012 NASL Champion Tampa Bay Rowdies in St. Petersburg. Disney-Pixar Finding Dory Swimming Into Theaters November 25, 2015

Finding Dory

Ellen DeGeneres,

the Voice of the Beloved Blue Tang Fish in 2003’s “Finding Nemo,”

Shares Plans for the All-New Big-Screen Adventure – Finding Dory

When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In Finding Dory, she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, Finding Dory takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

“Finding Nemo” won the 2003 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature; the film was nominated for three additional Oscars® (Best Writing, Original Screenplay; Best Music, Original Score; Best Sound Editing). It was also nominated for a Golden Globe® Award for Best Motion Picture–Comedy or Musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute named “Finding Nemo” among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release, “Finding Nemo” was the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time. It’s currently the fourth highest grossing animated film worldwide. The film has more than 16 million Likes on Facebook, and Dory—with more than 24 million—is the most Liked individual character from a Disney or Disney•Pixar film.

DeGeneres’ distinctive comic voice has resonated with audiences from her first stand-up comedy appearances through her work today on television, in film and in the literary world. Her syndicated talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” is in its 10th season and has earned 38 Daytime Emmy® Awards. DeGeneres has won 12 People’s Choice Awards and the Teen Choice Award for Choice Comedian for three consecutive years. Additionally, her show won two Genesis Awards and a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode. For her unforgettable turn as Dory, DeGeneres was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance.

We LOVE Drip!!!

A few weeks ago when a Co-Worker of mine was talking about a new show in Orlando that involved Paint and Water and Sand and Dance, and Music I KNEW I had to find out more about this new performance art venue called Drip!

I was still curious, so I went to their website for more information and this is how they describe themselves:

DRIP is an in-your-face explosion of color and movement backed by a live rock band, all in an industrial dive bar. You may get wet … you may get messy … you WILL have an awesome time. Grab a colored beer (orange, yellow, red or blue!) or glass of wine from our bar and let us assault your senses.

Drip

I had no idea how true any of that was until the show started.

When you walk into Drip, all you see is black walls, a few tables, and a long bar but at first it seemed like it was pretty sparse space. But as you start to explore you see there is also a paint bar for anyone who is into doing some body or face painting, where each color means something and you can go as heavy or as minimal as you want! At the bar you can get colored beer, wine, and soft drinks. There is also a DJ set up at a table towards the back of the bar area. As the show was getting close to starting, there are lots of people milling around in festive colors and knee socks and body paint!

Then all of a sudden the show starts, and you don’t even realize that it is until the first cup of blue beer goes flying! I don’t want to ruin the experience, so I will only say that if you like music, beer, dance, and art, Drip is TOTALLY the place for you!

Drip

Drip is probably one of the most unique things I have done in a while, and I loved every minute of it. I loved the heavy drum and bass music, I loved the paint. I LOVED the drama and I loved the action.

As with all DRIP events, people are strongly urged to dress down (jeans, t-shirts, sneakers) as colored sand, paint, and other media fly with abandon.

I LOVED our time at Drip and plan on going back very soon! I plan on planning my outfit a bit better so I have a show memento to take with me :P.

Drip

Thank You to Mariko, Jessica and Frank with Drip for making sure that Shelley, Shalon and I had an amazing time.

This is NOT a show you want to miss! Grab some friends, grab a white tshirt, grab a baggie for your phone (GREAT TIP SHALON), and head to Drip Orlando!

MagicBands Up Close

MagicBands

Yesterday when I went into the Odyssey at Epcot to show Zoe all of the items on display from the artifacts, I got a really awesome surprise.

When we were talking to a Cast Member, we noticed that she was wearing a MagicBand and she offered to let me try it on. My Disney geek heart skipped a beat as I put it on my wrist.

MagicBand

Once I slipped on the MagicBand, which still have an unknown release date, it was really easy to see that their design is amazing!

MagicBand

The bands are made of a rubber and based off of the same design as running watches, because the texture and materials used to make the MagicBands are extremely lightweight, durable, allow air circulation, and are made to not stick to your skin.

MagicBands will be available in pink, red, orange, yellow, blue, green, and grey. However you will notice that the bands have 2 colors, and the pink area (in this instance) is made so it can be separated from the grey to better fit children and those with smaller wrists.

MagicBand

While you will receive one free MagicBand as an Annual Passholder, you will need to have the My Disney Experience app to use your band effectively.

Currently you cannot register your Annual Pass to you My Disney Experience account, but it is something to keep a watch for so you can order your engraved MagicBand.

Also, if you are an Annual Passholder you will want to make sure that you visit the Walt Disney World site, to add you RFID Annual Pass to your profile under affiliations.

MagicBand

I hope that you enjoy this closer look at the MagicBands that are coming soon to the Walt Disney World Resort!
